    Late reaction as I just discovered you guys. You were talking about the tiller but I would like to point out that the 4-track is a beast. CASE brought out K Line Ag back in 2019, we brought the last four green 15.5m (51ft) Speedtiller Powerflex Mammoth units before CASE changed to red..😁
    Our units weigh in at 22 ton..

    Good comparison between the two. The ridging from the 2680 is significant. It's hard to think that was not observed in R&D, but who knows. Other than the blade size difference (22" vs. 20", which the 2680 is spec'd at as opposed to 18" like Dennis thought; and 24" is listed as standard on the 475, but it sounds like you have the 22" option), the rear gang angle is spec'd at 14 degrees on the 2680 and 17 on the 475. The front gangs are 17 on both and the spacing is the same at 10" on both. So, I guess the blade size and rear gang angle should be the only reason for the difference in the field, in theory. Regardless, good deal on being able to demo the Case and being able to do the quick switch.

    • @iversfarms
      @iversfarms  3 года назад +1

      I agree and excellent research. I’m a little worried about the rear blades being too angled on the case for not letting excess trash through but time will tell

    • @Faollord
      @Faollord 3 года назад

      The comparison was not accurate, the JD tiller didn't look like the depth was set right. Also, I dont know about case's tech playing with JD, but on a JD tractor there is automatic depth adjusting tech. Apples to apples, it should have been red on red, and green on green.

    Is the idea off the high speed disk to reduce tillage in the fall? We have never ran one and Our dealer thinks we should demo one what’s your thought on them compared to a disk ripper. Have a nice thanksgiving

    • @iversfarms
      @iversfarms  3 года назад

      We only run the rippers on stuff we think is compacted or is going to be corn on corn. We run the high speed disk in the fall(use to be turbo tills) mostly in stalks that will be planted to beans. To start breaking down the stalks, work in the fall applied fertilizer and smooth it up to make it easier to handle in the spring.
      On most we will hit it again with it in the spring but shallower or use a field cultivator or mulch finisher.
      Sometimes we will it some of our thick dirt with it twice in the fall and just plant into it in the spring.
      We also ran it in bean stubble this fall in the river bottoms so it doesn’t all wash away in a flood which is pretty common for us in the winter.
      They are good for minimum tillage that can cover ground fast and stay in front of the planter. Different tool for a different job from the ripper IMO.

      @@caliboyz8314 I promise to you, that if you go to a farm dealership and asked for info on working for a farmer as a hired hand, you'd get the work within that week. You just have to ask. Farmers rely on either family members to help, or they hire help. Most of the time around here in MT, the farmers pay for international visas for other country's workers. Around here lots of Danish, South African, and Swiss hired hands, cuz most americans don't want to work on a farm year round.

    It's cool that a real farm can actually afford to buy new equipment.. That JD 2680h is a toy meant for green paint addicts. Clearly the 475 is a way better tool but how many farmers get to demo before laying the $$$ down. I'm sure Case has the tillage and combines locked down over the green stuff. Just a pity the Quadtrac has such a crappy engine..

    • @iversfarms
      @iversfarms  3 года назад +1

      Can’t afford not to. The jd did a real good job this spring or at least I thought it did. I liked planting behind it.
      We haven’t had much issues with the quads engine. We did use to have issues with all the tier 4 exhaust stuff but that isn’t much of an issue anymore.

    • @Faollord
      @Faollord 3 года назад

      As far as demos go, JD dealers are required by JD to do so many demos a year. All ya got to do is ask your sales rep. you are also right, JD equipment can be used on any tractor, combine, etc. they were really designed to be green on green to really show off. That being said, Case does the same thing.

    • @Faollord
      @Faollord 3 года назад

      It depends on your operation. if 650 acres supports your needs (animal feed, hay, finances etc) thats perfect. Most farmers up here in Montana farm 3 to 4 thousand acres to make ends meet. I also know up here we have alot of open land, but there are some insane farmers here that do 10,000+ acres. I also know a farmer who farms 65,000 acres. his goal is to farm 100k.
