But in the episode when they land, 12 says that he was being chased by a dinosaur, so that idea might not work but I definitely think that it's a cool little nod to one of 12's adventures, would not be mad if they somehow made this idea work
The Doctor pulls a snickers out of his coat pocket and throws it in to the mouth of the T-Rex. It then turns into a bird and the Doctor says “You know you turn into a diva when you’re hungry…”
To me, the sonic when red is because he's in the past and blue when in the present and future, like a throwback to the opening in RTD's first run as the show runner
I think you might be right, up until Ncuti it’s always been in the clothes like different coloured bow ties or brown/blue suit but with Ncuti’s not having a general outfit the sonic would be the best option to keep that going
Maybe because the dinosaur ate the briefcase, it almost instantly vaporises like Kira Arlo from Kerblam and the doctor and Joy just fall to their deaths instead.
Since they're in a time hotel, maybe, management turns off their time room to stop a customer from perishing (thats bad PR) and they wind up in a normal hotel room.
I like the multiple costumes. 15 does repeatedly wear the long leather coat, such as in this clip. So I look at is as that being his signature costume, with changing t-shirts, and then also the one-time alternate options. I think it's a reference to his playful free personality.
First a short trip to the Jurassic period at the beginning of Space Babies, now a full-on T. rex attack in Joy to the World? I hope all this teasing means we're gonna get an whole dinosaur-focused episode next season, because I would be absolutely on board with that. We haven't had one since "Dinosaurs on a Spaceship" which was 12 years ago.
I would say he does have an official costume/silhouette and it’s his long leather coat, stripy top and trainers and that’s what he wears on all the books,CDs his action figures and I believe on the dvd - so I would say that’s his official costume regardless of the others
Villengard, war profiteering and, if Ellie is correct, a connection to the Meep. I wonder... it could be a species we've not met yet, but perhaps it's run by one of the Doctor's old enemies. Keeping a war going perpetually just for the sake of profit sounds like something Sil would do. (For those who haven't seen Vengeance on Varos or Mindwarp, Sil is a slug-like alien capitalist who was partly responsible for the Sixth Doctor's companion Peri's supposed death) Then again, if it is star seed technology, that also reminds me of the Slitheen's plan in the first episode of The Sarah Jane Adventures. And war profiteering would be a valid way to make some serious buck for them...
The screwdriver is always red in the past, blue in the future and yellow when time's all weird. It's red in the clip because they're 65 million years in the past.
The whole "time travel hotel" and one of the people involved having green skin, gives me Majenta Pryce vibes from "The Crimson Hand" (Collected Tenth Doctor Strips - Volume 3) - The whole convoluted story arc took about 232 pages - (DWM 394) Hotel Historia up to The Crimson Hand (DWM 416-420) with the universe on the brink of destruction from several external sources.
The sonic mouse gives the TRex lockjaw and there's a tense moment of them hanging onto its jaw, literally in the open mouth of a TRex. Then the doctor has to lower Joy down its throat to grab the briefcase. Just as she grabs it, the TRex starts shaking its head in rage, throwing them out and onto the balcony again, or perhaps another balcony down below.
David Tennant Doctor had different outfits, yes, only 2, but he still had different ones. Maybe they could decide on 2 full outfits and swap the bits around. That would be better than a different "fit" every episode. The first Doctor had a wardrobe change when they landed in Rome, a toga. Also the 5th Doctor had a costume in the episode with the black Dalia. I'm sure there are more, if we look closely.
Hey Ellie! Sooo I've just thought up a River Song theory for you. I believe it's widely accepted that River is The Doctor's 2nd wife, but what if she's his ONLY wife? Why did she have pictures of every known incarnation of The Doctor before Peter Capaldi? Why did she know the 10th Doctor? Wibbly, wobbly, timey whimey. What if before or after her time was over with the 12th, she barrowed the Tardis without him finding out, and coincidencely had found the 1st Doctor before he became the old chap we've come to know? What if River is Susan's grandmother? What if River took a prototype Tardis device, and traveled to meet the crew to wind up at the Library?
7:51 - he not only destroyed their factory, he also severely disrupted their algorithm in "Boom". And, quite possibly, exposed one of their dirty secrets, leading them to lose clients -- I wonder if the Anglican marines still purchased Villengard weapons after it was revealed that these weapons were being ordered to kill them by their own manufacturers' algorithms
I had to pause this at the discussion of the Sonic screwdriver. Okay it's not a sonic screwdriver, whatever. Have we already forgotten the 12 doctors Sonic sunglasses? They suited him better than a screwdriver, yes he had a screwdriver but he used those sunglasses quite often. And if we're being honest, the 12th doctor is one of my top two. So don't care about who thinks what about what the 15th doctor calls a Sonic. Sorry for all the caps and weird punctuation I'm Google voice to texting lol
I wouldn't be surprised if they actually get swallowed, but the doctor uses his screwdriver to make the dinosaur spit them back out, as like a throwback to when the star whale spat The Doctor and Amy out in The Beast Below
I saw the clip and thought “ooh, what’s this going to be about “. I loved hearing the Villaguard reference (I think I spelled that wrong, but you understand) being made . That, for me, answers who the villain will be for this Christmas special, but could they be the overarching villain throughout this next season , orchestrating situations for the Doctor that are meant to end them, but don’t really succeed with such (of course)? Such a dangerous villain could lead to some great storylines too. We’ll just need to wait and see.
Maybe they do slide into the dinosaurs mouth, and the doctor grabs the suit case from its throat. Afterall, he does have experience of triggering creatures gag reflexes to escape (beast below). One way to rescue the case!
One of the most disappointing things for me about "Boom" was the Doctor didn't really seem that bothered about doing anything about Villengard and their warmongering business model at the time. I had assumed then that it would be revisited later on (after all, the final episode was going to be called Empire of Death", which would have been a good fit..) but it wasn't. So now, I'm hoping we get a full Villengard story arc in this second season with Ncuti!
I don't know if you already know but the girl in the teaser, her name is joy. You can tell by watching the teaser on the doctor who RUclips with subtitles on
As always fantastic video, Ellie! However, I don't agree that Fifteen doesn't have the iconic look, I think this orangebrown leather coat IS his iconic look. He had it on most promos, both Xmas specials and even with different clothes beneath their style is consistent. My favourite costume still is and probably forever will be the one in Rogue but that outfit from introduction is absolutely beautiful, I only hope we will see it for longer than kilt + leather jacket combo in last year's special. Also, I'm super excited for this episode, looks fun (especially that t-rex looks great!), writing is good and intelligent and I love both actors so I really have hopes for Doctor and Joy teaming up. Btw if Rogue has connections to Villengard and Villengard keeps poppin into the picture, it surely means Rogue should also be back somehow?;) Doctor is still wearing his ring ;_; c'mon Jonathan, take a vacation on Broadway and come to UK!
As much as I like a lot of Ncuti’s outfits in Season 1, I do think the costume he wears in Church on Ruby Road and Devil’s Chord is his best and most Doctory outfit. Also it looks like he’s wearing it in Joy to the World too so maybe that will be his more usual look going forward
There's leaks that show he wears more outfits in the next season also he is wearing the one from church on Ruby Road but with a yellow top he also hade it in space babies but a blue top snd took the jacket off
I have a theory. When beep the meep said "the boss" what if the boss is a name of a time lord. cause he didn't say MY boss he said THE boss. so what if this boss is the boss of villengaurd who is also a time lord. here is another edition, what if the boss is mrs flood.
Hi Eliie, I agree whilst having the clip was great I was expecting more of the Doctor for Children in Need, especially with a Tardis being auctioned off - I was expecting Ncuti to step out! I think they escape due to a Gigantosaurus attacking the TRex - There's always a bigger monster!! Lets see what Doctor Who Day brings.
9:33 I have 2 theories, 1, the tardis might appear and open the door before getting into the mouth 2, the time door opens and they get back into the hotel or another place
Have so much more interest and faith in an overaching Villengard plot than in Mrs. Flood ngl. Be so cool if we get one or two more hint eps about it every season from Moffat :)
So I hate to be that person but I really wanted a fun doctor who segment for the children's in needs . I stopped before the clip cause I really don't want spoilers for the Christmas episode. Note I don't mean casting choices.
I think it's been confirmed the sonic is both hlue and pink, which is... odd, but hey, go for it. I'm still leaning on the Doctor sticking to a more uniformed costume. I don't mind a kilt here snd there though. I don't know. Regardless of that, the clip gsbe me good vibes snd especially knowing Moffat penned this script.
i am still in the josie years but :) something to look forward to and also YES peter i loved i just wish he could of rocked out more and talked to us 4th wall more. HE finally explained the bootscrap paradox BETTER THEN even star trek deep space nine did. and YOU know some trekkies HAD TO BE PISSED
Personally, I think they escape because a suitcase gives the dinosaur a humongous belly ache and he ends up puking everything up. Actually that would be kind of fun
As they are sliding towards the T-rex, they each grab one of the chairs and toss them into the dinosaur's mouth. Though only providing a brief wedge and distraction, the Doctor cleverly uses this moment to use the blankets from the chairs to get snagged on the teeth of the dinosaur and carefully climb down below the the jaws of the dinosaur. They then proceed to climb down the tree and make it to a safer location.
So the ears were just a Children in Need reference and nothing particularly sinister. Being American, I of course had no idea. But I approve of the look. The sonic changing color: Maybe it's a mood sonic. Too Seventies? "A giant T-Rex! Need I say more?" Actually, yes. Still no feathers on the T-Rex. I'm salty. I'll get over it. I think my favorite (with no superfluous "u") would be Triceratops, maybe Stegosaurus. Both would have lived well before feathers developed. My suggestion for their escape: Just as they're about to plunge into the T-Rex's gaping gullet, the CGI animator suffers a fatal heart attack and dies. The quest could continue. Or has it been done? Top marks getting this video out with such alacrity. As soon as I saw the clip, I thought, "They're in total panic mode." You held it together like a champ. Nicely done, and thanks.
I think everyone's favourite Doctor Who character Grant Gordon comes and flies them away, while 12 in a state of post regenerative shock and visions of his far future, comes and teleports the dinosaur to London. Russell, where's my hired email?
If BBC Worldwide can get the money together, an update of Invasion of the Dinosaurs with non rubbish CGI Dinosaurs is now clearly a must! I'm still overjoyed Blakes 7 has got a CGI makeover for its effects. Joy to the World certainly looks like fun
Dumb theory that doesn't make any sense since there have been more then 2 colours and it was blue when he was in the past and ut was yellow in one episode
I think he will just speak dinosaur using the TARDIS’ translator. Imagine telling the TRex to “sit” like a dog and tossing him a random treat to reward him-a jelly baby perhaps?
I reckon they do get swallowed but the Doctor realises he's some salt left behind from Wild Blue Yonder. Just in the nick of timey-wimey he manages to sprinkle some on him and Joy making Spike the dinosaur spit them out in disgust and be inadvertently the cause of T-Rex's turning Herbivore and ultimately wiping out all dinosaurs.
hmmm, maybe......the master founded villengard?????? or some previous 'classic' enemy? Sil and/or Lord Kiv? maybe the Black Guardian has got his hands in it?
I like the way so many of these new episodes begin... then the solution, the ending, etc., drops you like a brick, and you're left going 'huh'. Tired of being let down. Bring back River Song.
@@DeinobiIt was never true. Happened coincidentally in a few episodes, people started spreading that on social media back in the day, and people just accepted it without checking and started repeating it. Plenty of episodes where the Doctor’s bow tie color choice did not correlate to future/past.
Ok, I think the old T-Rex looks much better then the new one. Side by side, when you said "Night and day", I immediately thought "Yeah, that new one looks like they got a budget cut or something". Like the new one doesn't have shading at all. How do they escape the T-Rex? EASY PEASY! Warning: SPOILERS! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! As a fan of the show, I see it coming from a mile away. The Doctor and his friend slide down towards the T-Rex's mouth and they grab onto the boards about to get eaten. The Doctor goes for his sonic but the T-Rex bangs on the platform and it slides into the Dinosaurs mouth. They hold on scared they are about to get eaten, when 15 pulls out his secret weapon! He starts crying! Yes, the tears fall into the dinosaur's mouth and, as we all know, T-Rex's hate salty food! So the T-Rex walks away deciding they aren't his food of choice. Yay go Doctor!
There are two broken bars i think that the doctor and joy grab on to those bars and joys bar breaks and the doctor catches her and then the dinosaur walks away and their saved
If this was Chibnall I would say doctor will use the sonic and dinasour will disappear. But knowing Moffat, they will probably get eaten by the dinasour, which will turn out to be something else. A robot maybe? Villengard was the ones who engineered the war, the mine and everything in that previous episode.
It makes me wonder if Steven Moffat is going to return as head producer in the not too distant future, because when he was writing during RTD's first time in charge, he was already laying things down in his scripts that came back as BIG things in the scripts he wrote when he took over as head producer...
Check out our breakdown of the new Joy To The World trailer here! ruclips.net/video/sbu8HFafDHc/видео.html
it would be funny and under climatic if the dinosaurs just disappears and it turns out it's the dinosaur the 12th doctor took to London in deep breath
That would be interesting.
BTW: I think the word you were looking for is anticlimactic.
I think you have called it, that sounds very Moffaty!
That would be sooooo cool
Looks more like the one from TheDinosaur Invasion…
@@jayanderson9375"The Invasion of the Unconvincing Glove Puppets", as I call a certain late Pertwee adventure
Newly regenerated 12 and Clara fly into the side of the T-Rex taking the T-Rex from 15 and Joy to 12 and Clara as thay try to take off.
I would not be upset by this at all.
Huh?
But in the episode when they land, 12 says that he was being chased by a dinosaur, so that idea might not work but I definitely think that it's a cool little nod to one of 12's adventures, would not be mad if they somehow made this idea work
not a t-rex Giganotosaurus
Wouldn't be mad for a 12 appearance
The Doctor pulls a snickers out of his coat pocket and throws it in to the mouth of the T-Rex. It then turns into a bird and the Doctor says “You know you turn into a diva when you’re hungry…”

❤ 😂
I laughed so hard at this! Sad that only bits will understand
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂 I need this to happen now
Everyone theorizing about the dinosaurs getting wiped out in this episode should probably remember what happened to Adric.
I mean River did say the Sonic would get a red setting.
Omg yeah!
But, you know, she met 12 and this screwdriver already had a red setting.
I think it was 11 that git it
maybe the time hotel has some automated safeguards built-in? if you are in mortal danger it zips you back to the hotel.
Given the nature of a *time* hotel, I suspect they have you pay in advance (and thus can ignore safeguards)
The trex could be a door to another room? Maybe the hotel is like an escape room where it isn’t just a door to leave the room
That's VERY wibbly-wobbly, good idea!
So what bad PR for Ncuti ? I'm outside the UK , what happened with Graham Norton and Deadline article ?
Apparently he unwittingly confirmed a third series...
To me, the sonic when red is because he's in the past and blue when in the present and future, like a throwback to the opening in RTD's first run as the show runner
What is the opening of rtd era that you are talking about?
I think you might be right, up until Ncuti it’s always been in the clothes like different coloured bow ties or brown/blue suit but with Ncuti’s not having a general outfit the sonic would be the best option to keep that going
Maybe because the dinosaur ate the briefcase, it almost instantly vaporises like Kira Arlo from Kerblam and the doctor and Joy just fall to their deaths instead.
Since they're in a time hotel, maybe, management turns off their time room to stop a customer from perishing (thats bad PR) and they wind up in a normal hotel room.
Im thinking this too. A customer dying on company property would be bad for business
@@director5831 Good thinking
I love 15's multiple outfits. Totally represents his Doctor's style. I like how you can look at his clothes and go "yeah, that's 15"
I agree. I love his sense of whimsy with his costumes, he has a similar sense of whimsy as the 11th doctor.
I like the multiple costumes. 15 does repeatedly wear the long leather coat, such as in this clip. So I look at is as that being his signature costume, with changing t-shirts, and then also the one-time alternate options. I think it's a reference to his playful free personality.
Also some pieces repeat, like a "normal" person. The long coat, the kilt, etc. He's got style! 😊
Surely Adric crashes nearby and that's that.
First a short trip to the Jurassic period at the beginning of Space Babies, now a full-on T. rex attack in Joy to the World? I hope all this teasing means we're gonna get an whole dinosaur-focused episode next season, because I would be absolutely on board with that. MORE DINOS PLS
He uses the sonic to cause Mr Rex to do a huge burp, that propels our heroes backwards and away from danger.
I would say he does have an official costume/silhouette and it’s his long leather coat, stripy top and trainers and that’s what he wears on all the books,CDs his action figures and I believe on the dvd - so I would say that’s his official costume regardless of the others
He wore it it in like 3 episodes ecept in one he took the jacket off but I liked the cloths in rogue
Never ignore a coincidence - unless you're busy!
I’m busy
Villengard, war profiteering and, if Ellie is correct, a connection to the Meep. I wonder... it could be a species we've not met yet, but perhaps it's run by one of the Doctor's old enemies. And war profiteering would be a valid way to make some serious buck for them...
I’d love to see Sil come back. I have a feeling Nabil Shaban and Ncuti Gatwa would play off each other well.

4:10 I think it's to determine the time period. red=past blue=future like ten's suits or 11's bow tie
Or maybe it's like a mood ring now and changes on the doctors emotions
It was yellow once also its gonna be black and green in season 2 and it was pink in rouge aswell and red at the end

Moffat's been pretty Villengard obsessed all along.
Wait, how have I not seen this?! Wasn't it published on their RUclips?
Maybe this mysterious boss is finally The Minister of War the was mentioned in Series 9?

That's on a Monty Python episode, I think.

The T-Rex vomits the brief case (=possible star seed that does not agree with its stomach) back out just as the Doctor and Joy are about to slide in?
I think everyone's favourite Doctor Who character Grant Gordon comes and flies them away, while 12 in a state of post regenerative shock and visions of his far future, comes and teleports the dinosaur to London. Russell, where's my hired email?
This needs to happen
i kinda wish this doctor had been "lister" from red dwarf and you know that would be insane but oh well.
Maybe the sonic is like a mood ring and changes colour depending on how the Doctor is feeling.
My first thought was that it was some sort of mood detector. Not necessarily the mood of the doctor, but more like reading a room.
River shows up and saves them, then complains that the doctor always has to rely on her to save him
If BBC Worldwide can get the money together, an update of Invasion of the Dinosaurs with non rubbish CGI Dinosaurs is now clearly a must! I'm still overjoyed Blakes 7 has got a CGI makeover for its effects. Joy to the World certainly looks like fun
BBC Worldwide hasn’t existed for over a decade.
The dinosaur scene, right? The one where they're sliding into it's mouth.
They don't escape and get swallowed whole. Cut to credits. The end.
Maybe the sonic changes colors depending on if he's in the future or in the past?
I thought this as well, if he's in the past its red and if he's in the future it's blue
@@alittlelife8650it was blue when he wss in modern day
Dumb theory that doesn't make any sense since there have been more then 2 colours and it was blue when he was in the past and ut was yellow in one episode
@@Pat12379 dumb theory for a dumb looking sonic no one wants to pay attention to
@tracesizemore6736 or mabey you're just not very smart and don't notice very obvious things
How he escapes? He’s the doctor he survived a pit of vampire monkeys as missy said
I think he will just speak dinosaur using the TARDIS’ translator. Imagine telling the TRex to “sit” like a dog and tossing him a random treat to reward him-a jelly baby perhaps?
Great video, can't wait for Christmas day to see this.
The NX01 Enterprise accidently hits the T-Rex and the two slide onto the hull and The Doctor send The Enterprise back to its home universe.
Just a thought the hotel time travelling I wonder if a time lord could be behind it just a thought lol
Ncuti has had bad press? What did I miss?
He’d confirmed a 3rd Season On the Graham Norton Show
@ there was backlash to that? How odd.
Escape via a portal (?)- maybe.
I like the way so many of these new episodes begin... then the solution, the ending, etc., drops you like a brick, and you're left going 'huh'. Tired of being let down. Bring back River Song.
That would ruin her ending
The hotel will time shift to a different point in time
Classic dr who trope
Obviously to escape the dinosaur, the Doctor and his guest will both make like a tree and get out of there.
When you see blue or red on the doctor's outfit it depends on weather he has gone forward or backwards in time
Is that true in a general sense tho? As far as I was aware, that only applied to the colour of 11's Series 5 and 6 bowties
@@DeinobiIt was never true. Happened coincidentally in a few episodes, people started spreading that on social media back in the day, and people just accepted it without checking and started repeating it. Plenty of episodes where the Doctor’s bow tie color choice did not correlate to future/past.
@@robertholt3996 ah thanks for the correction
The 14th Doctor randomly manifests his TARDIS into the time period and they both manifest inside his Tardis - ALLONSY!!
No.
Its a bit of a stretch, but what if The Doctor presses a button on the Sonic and it expands enough to stop the T-Rex from eating them (?)
Maybe it's the same T-Rex and it recognizes the Doctor and just wants to play around with him in its mouth
Time hotel? Sounds similar to "The God Complex" episode in 2011.
Collecting dinosaurs to put on spaceship perhaps?
my favorite part was 9:18
It makes me wonder if Steven Moffat is going to return as head producer in the not too distant future, because when he was writing during RTD's first time in charge, he was already laying things down in his scripts that came back as BIG things in the scripts he wrote when he took over as head producer...
