  • Some clips of Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, UK in the 1960s. The film includes the Bathing Pool, miniature railway, Marineland Zoo, the Boating Lake and the sea front near Ross Castle. A cine film by my late Grandad, Stan Wilson.

We used to holiday at the Fitties when I was a kid in the 70s. The zoo is just as I remember it with all the cars parked on the grass at the front.

Really enjoyed watching this quality film. My own grandad, Joseph Wilson, filmed Cleethorpes in 1963. It was interesting to see in Stan's film the fountain at 05:35 as in Joseph's film I am seen playing by it when it was under construction. If anybody is interested it can be seen on a channel "Joseph Wilson - His Wonderful World of Cine". Like Stan he filmed in colour and around East Yorkshire.

Pure nostalgia. I think I just saw a video of the amusement park abandoned. Curious.

What great footage! I'm working on a music video for a song about holidays with my Dad when we were younger - Cleethorpes was one of his favourites as a kid! Is there any chance I could get permission to use this please?

We are a local community tv station for Cleethorpes currently preparing a series of documentaries about the history of events in the town and, with your permission, would like to share your grandfather's films on our youtube channel and include some clips in the documentaries. You can contact us at admin@hammondhouse.org.uk Kind regards, Ted Stanley.
