Man, this is more exciting than watching a real race. Specially with you narrating like this! I am working towards being a fast racer too. Love the content. Oh and 30 seconds was 🐂 💩.
no way that was worth 30s. i think if it would’ve dropped you down it would have been a less severe penalty but angus was falling away and they wanted a switcheroo.
It does look like he gave the bmw a little swipe as he got on the brake and it looked intentional (even if it wasnt). Maybe the fact that he didnt give the position after doing that made them give 30s. If the bmw didnt hit him and completely spun like he was doing it would have made sense, but even still i think (from outside perspective) it looks like at least 10s pen
It was worthy of a penalty but not 30s. That's a bit overkill. I think jaames could've left him a bit of room rather than swerved across in the braking zone. Though it was hard to tell from the angle shown in this video
Definite twitch left as you were about to apex for the chicane which unfortunately collected the BMW. I would have put it down to a racing incident as that move on the outside by the BMW was never going to play out any other way than it did. Great racing by you and morally at least, a great win!
On "the incident", I noted two things at the time. First, Angus was still a bit behind, even though alongside you. Honestly, if I were him, I would have thought about holding back there and trying to get a drive out of the end since you would have entered the chicane a bit slower offline as it were. That said, the tiny flick to left before entering the right hander was magnified by Angus guessing that you had already committed to the turn. I'll call it a draw. Angus was being overly aggressive with little hope of success and the flick is noticeable when viewed from the front.
As a realworld race commission i can say that this is not a racing incident. The McLaren made a move to the left under braking and leaves his line. I dont know why he gets 30 Seconds for it, but if its written in the regulations, you have to take it.
Great video! IMO regarding the incident, you were at fault if anything, but definitely not worth 30 seconds- that was BS! At the beginning of braking zone you were perfectly positioned giving him the outside line however for some reason right after starting to brake your car moved a bit to the left, making contact. Fair enough if you were to blame there but no way such a harsh penalty. I would’ve given you a 5 second penalty at most
The incident is pretty weird but to me, there is two possible reasons it happened: Seen from that angle, it looks as if you steered to the left while braking, pushing him off the track. That makes you at fault but 30Seconds is just insane, I would have given 5 Seconds, especially considering that the BMW got out just fine (Or at least it seemed that way) But the way your car went to the left when "steering to the left while braking" was kind of snappy, it almost feels as if the netcode processed it as the BMW touching your car first, and thats why it went to the left in a snappy way, causing the incident. To see what really was the problem, you would have to look at your steering wheel at that moment, to see if you really steered to the left under braking or not.
Hi James. Just discovered your channel and loving these long-form race videos! The incident... it definitely looks like you did a little wobble to the left and bumped him. Without the bump he'd have been alongside you at the right turn and then possibly got ahead at the left turn. But a 30-second penalty seems harsh.
Are there any tips & tricks on how to gain consistency? I struggle to complete 10 laps without an off track excursion. Great videos by the way & the ACC videos are ace!!!
Just start slow and gradually work your way up with speed. Don’t try and hotlap every lap, just jump into practice or an ai race with low ai difficulty and just drive to 70% of your ability.
I don't think it was worth a 30 sec pen personally but would suggest it was something worth giving the place up as a gesture of goodwill. To me it looks as if you move into his chosen line a bit too much but it's tight and there's clearly no bad intentions. I do have a question about your driving style though, to me it looks like you're able to load up the front axle way more than I feel comfortable with when driving on ACC (my main car is the Bentley but I am reasonably familiar with the Macca too)... Are there any free tips you can give about how you are able to achieve this?
Love the vids, great fricking driving! I think ultimately, u did turn into him just as you entered the corner, would he have actually pulled off the move through the chicane... verry difficult to say, you would have had to give him the space on the inside through the left hander sooo its possible... however... You did help him straighten out after he got back onto the track. Was it worth 30 seconds... Given the fact that it was a possibility for Angus to pass you, im going to say yes.... To conclude, you still shud have won be ause I think if u did lose the lead at that chicane, u would of gained it back... Im going to carry on binging ur races now. Cheers.
i only got into acc recently and yours and jardiers vids have really helped. unbelievable driving man, the best i have seen, cheers for all your tips and hopefully i get to meet you on track some day. obv when your lapping me. in your opinion whats the best car for a beginner to learn, stick to and drive? i think the incident was almost 50/50, a racing incident, but sometimes if you walking to a championship racing politics intervenes. you need a cool head inside and outside of the car it seems. in my eyes you were the winner here.
It was the same as Hamilton and Leclerc in Monza. As an Italian of course I support the Ferrari but Leclerc was at fault just like you were here. Didn't leave enough space there and he clipped the grass on the entry
Your little twitch to the left caused the M6 to get on the grass in the braking zone...so considering his tires were gone anyway I would just have let him past and I guess you wouldn't have had any problems catching him again. So penalty yes but 30 seconds is too much, thats for sure.
Great race! You might have ever so slightly moved to the left on braking. IRL it probably wouldn't have resulted in Angus getting pushed off so much. You definitely had the pace towards the end so you could have been more conservative and given more space, you probably would have ended up ahead on that corner anyway.
Solid race, good consistency. On the incident don't call netcode, this is not iracing! I think you just over squeezed him, but 30s was too harsh, 10 maybe more appropriate. I think he's never getting past there though so not much threat. Likely you are just unlucky with it being a game so not quite the level of queues for the senses as real life to avoid contact when so close and also ACC contact over reacted a little.
On the incident I'm no expert at all but I thought rule of thumb was that if the trailing car is at least halfway alongside then the leading car should cede; if not then it's up to the trailing car to back out....or am I talking nonsense?
To be honest I don't know that much about real world GT3 penalties but 30 seconds seem pretty random. There was a bit of contact which made him spin but you didn't gain a significant advantage spinning him since he was still fairly close behind you afterwards and since you had the inside line it was fairly unlikely he would've overtaken you through this corner. Also he spun the other way around on rejoining the track all by himself which might have been avoidable and caused the second contact, pushing you off the track. All in all it's probably just a race accident especially in sim racing with the netcode having its influence as well. If you give a penalty 5 seconds is the maximum for that in my opinion.
watched incident about 10 times and coming into the corner it looks like you moved into him... but in that second incident, he had no control over the car and it could have been easily avoidable by braking... i do not believe that it is worth 30 seconds tho. i think at max it should be atleast 5 or 10 seconds
You _did_ move over, but 30 secs is too harsh me thinks. Maybe 5 seconds, or they telling you to let him go during the race would've been more apt. With all that said, I think after the contact and loss of control, Angus tries taking you out there lol
Another great video. Just moved from Xbox to PC for ACC and appreciate your vids. Any chance of doing one on fov? Your cockpit view is quite different to other streamers, seems to show a lot of headliner.
All I know is F1 racing and rules. But, a 30-sec time penalty is just insane. It really just looked like incidental contact. It just seemed that when you two got side by side the cars were just pulled together. Maybe from the dirty air of both cars so incredibly close together. But, it just looked like a racing incident nonetheless. Thats just my take.
Would have been nice if Angus came here and gave his view. To me it looks like James looks at him in the rear camera and unconsiously steer a bit left as he gets surprised of how close Angus is. It looks intentional from the outside, even if it is not. I do not think Angus planned an overtake, he just breaks later there and goes left to avoid contact, just as in earlier laps. I guess the penalty gets high as there is a certain expectation on tier one drivers. We also know how little it takes when driving on the limit. I do not know about the level, 30s, but it sounds more or less like a standard number and it would not really matter if it was only 10. I'm no race driver and do not know much about the rules of the sport but I would say that from the outside, in this particular situation, it does not look like Angus really lost any time compared to James so from a fairness POV any time penalty does not make sense really unless Angus got some permanent damage to the car. From that POV I'm with James here, he did get the 'moral victory'.
Doesnt matter 10 or 30, he still 2nd. And he should be penalized like that, couse he made bmw spin on the road, and that damage your tyres a lot, so bmw could not fight for p1 anymore
Was there contact? yes. worth 30secs? No... its odd I don't see anyone mention it appears he doesn't get on the brakes at all afterwards.. in fact it looks like he grabs a tonne of throttle about midway in the grass in either an attempt to dart out in front of you or take you out. The stewards couldn't see that? I am sure they could have examined his in car to see that?
It’s really not clear who bumps into whom you are very close; still considering what happens after the chicane you are still pretty close and a 30s penalty seems really unjustified
*The Incident* So, I watched that back at 1/4 speed about 10 times, and you can see you both hit the brakes at very nearly EXACTLY the same time, and BOTH cars twitch as the weight is transferred forward. You had the preferred line, and the onus is on Angus to make a clean pass, or withdraw. If they are basing the penalty solely on that action, most stewards would award a 5 second penalty to the at fault driver, in that case, Angus. Now, as the segment proceeds, you are still in control of your car, Angus CLEARLY is not, cutting across the circuit in a dangerous and careless manner, again, making contact with you. Also a penalty worthy moment, but again, for ANGUS. The fact that you came into contact again, at worst could be called a racing incident, or at best, a second penalty for Angus. If the stewards took the time to look at the handling of both cars on the previous lap, they could have easily seen that Angus' car was poorly handling and on the edge. He knew it, and still took unnecessary chances in poor overtaking locations. Even if a steward saw things differently than I have, the maximum penalty should have been 5 seconds, and perhaps a warning. Personally, I would have appealed it. Just my point of view, and I am not a steward, but from my viewpoint, well..........
Consistency Wins Races This is Why I Practice Allot What Makes it Hard in ACC is Getting The Tire Heat Perfect Every Time You Change Something in Car Set Up Wishing You Get Faster :] Getting Faster With POB is Easier Then Driving Like A Pro I Won Many Races With Power To Weight Ratio But You Can Manage The Grip And Make Car Go Faster in Turns is GT3 The Cars Are Based On That
I don't agree with the penalty, Angus wasn't in a position to overtake and should have backed out. If you were aware of the penalty during those last few laps, how would that have affected your driving? Are you able to tune it out or would it distract?
Judging just by the footage on this video, it looks to me like you moved under braking. However, 30s seems too much, unless they have specific ruling about this being the minimum or something like this.
It's bullshit to judge this incident at all because james gave the absolute worst possible footage he could. We'd need at least a straight camera angle and a view of james' steering input. Preferable both onboards as well. Of course on his channel absolutely everybody will side with james.
The incident was not worth anything, you both where fighting there, you had the defensive line and he is a big beamer so ofc. he doesn't fit through it. I mean it was on both sides kind of dirty. either both get 30 or nobody. Whatever, amazing video and thank you for your awesome content!
Hey james that was pretty bs i must say it shouldnt be 30 seconds pen should be 5 for that you had the line and he went off i myself raced in tsrl tier 6 split 3 last week at monza on f12020 and had similar incident to you where it was final lap and it was raining towards the end and i was in 3rd but was catching my team mate on the straight were in the merc btw and thought its last lap gotta go for it so i do he moves left blocks it so i move right see the opening make the move and as am braking and turning in on the right side i give him much room as i could we make slight contact its hard to tell on the footage as we turn in and he goes wide over the chicane and he also had a pen at that point and got another one for it for going off the track i think so hes appealing that and he feels that i forced him out wide but i didnt i tried being fair and went for it but weve sent our povs to the stewards and report is due to come out today so let you know what happens but i thought it was a good move in my eyes especially in the wet when using assists and dont think i should be penalised for it what would you do james if you was the stewards with our report of course you havent seen our footage we only make slight contact but like i said he goes off the track ?of course he wasnt happy with me after it but were ok with it now and ill happily accept what ever pen i get am still new to it so learning as i go am leading the championship 4 races in and still 1st
The contact is down to you slightly moving left... but you have to expect a tiny amount of movement from any car in the braking area and I can’t work out what the plan was of the BMW driver... he put himself in a place where he had nowhere to go... without contact it would never had been an overtake... and he probably would still have lost it and hit you...He had no advantage at all by putting himself where he did... My view is racing incident, no penalty... no advantage was gained or lost in the incident.
Clearly it was a racing incident with a small touching. You didn't gain anything from him neither did he lose anything from it. Could argue he did a unsafe rejoin 🤪
how has nobody noticed the car backfire at the same time James said backfire at 9:23
Holy fuck i just made a coment about it cause I thought I was the only one who noticed it lol
Dammit. Thought I was the first one to notice. Nicely spotted :)
Just as a famous quote from space jam: "Poetry in motion!"
damn I came here to say this
Likewise... I had to knock the video back 10s and watch again when I saw it as I did not believe my eyes!
Man, this is more exciting than watching a real race. Specially with you narrating like this! I am working towards being a fast racer too. Love the content. Oh and 30 seconds was 🐂 💩.
Really nice to see what happened in the GT3 race :D, we had lovely battles in GT4 as well :D
Alpine powaaa 😂
Miss racing you in the GT3's😞😉
Why did you use the Alpine on Oulton I heard the Alpine is horrible on kerbs
no way that was worth 30s.

@@utkarshchaurasia2233 at the same time though the bmw should not be trying to overtake there
@@rmx39 why? There is no such rule. If he had a run he is free to take advantage of it but moving in the braking zone is a big no no
@@utkarshchaurasia2233 that’s.... not how racing works. Many corners aren’t big enough for two cars.
good race james . remember its not the dog in the fight its the fight in the dog .you have a great mentality .never loose it
James having 2 videos come out in one day I've been blessed
9:23 nice timing with the word “backfire”

angus should never overtake there anyway, basically impossible to get the move done without forcing the other car off the track
as an iracer im impressed by the similarities of the track from sim to sim but great vids keep em going mate ;)
That's a harsh penalty. Never 30 secs just a racing incident

Great race!!! ACC racer here too, loved watching the video. My last league race of the season is here next saturday. This was good to watch!
My fave track in ACC! So bumpy with nasty kerbs and zero runoff. Tough track but it's so intense I love it! Old-school British tracks are so awesome 👌
I enjoyed your commentary and your anylizing each single race James Thankyou

race incident from me. same as wettel and Hamilton at canada.
On the incident I'm no expert at all but I thought rule of thumb was that if the trailing car is at least halfway alongside then the leading car should cede; if not then it's up to the trailing car to back out....or am I talking nonsense?

nice video, max 5sec for that incident in my opinion.
it will be very useful if u could dedicate one video to tyre saving in ACC, just a suggestion...
Anyone know why the dash doesn’t work ?
Great race. Could you evaluate and compare mclarens in other sims like AMS2 and RF2 to the real one or each other?
I reckon they could have had a ten second penalty if they were dead set on switching positions not a thirty

With all that said, I think after the contact and loss of control, Angus tries taking you out there lol
What are the tips to save tyres?
It did look like you came across a lot but that could just be netcode.
truth is you won.
New to this racing stuff. What's difference between gt3 and gt4. And why do they mix them in races?
Awesome race. Could you do a video about how to get into league racing with links?
Awesome video, pls more videos like this one!

Hey Chris I believe in his new series he will be covering video settings, he might go through it there so keep an eye on the channel
well done jaaaaaames that crash might have been a little error on you half comming into the braking zone which snowballed into that incident
but no way it is worth 30s though maby 5 at most
Very common race incident, definitely not worth a penalty and definitely not 30 seconds, I would say

Brilliant vid. Thanks.
It was a racing incident ıf they really want to give a penalty, 5 secs is max
You did come across to him, but it looked like a netcode. At max a 5-10 sec penalty, 30 is way way way to much.
Doesnt matter 10 or 30, he still 2nd. And he should be penalized like that, couse he made bmw spin on the road, and that damage your tyres a lot, so bmw could not fight for p1 anymore
Hi mate i use mclearn and notice it hates kerbs. Just wondered what tracks does it suit
What a great race to watch!
Hey James, i have a league race next week in the Mclaren at Oulton park, any big setups tips you have? im sitting at low to mid 1.34's
Are you changing TC/ABS constantly as you are driving? And you mention you dont do that in real life too?
But, isnt always about being the most consistent? I think consistentcy breeds quickness.
No, should have been regarded as racing incident. No action required.
The pace of the beemer on one lap round here is a joke lol
That’s big rippin
what a worldy from p1 in quali
It’s really not clear who bumps into whom you are very close; still considering what happens after the chicane you are still pretty close and a 30s penalty seems really unjustified
I'd say that incident was around 5s time loss for the bmw at most, it was maybe worth a 10s penalty if they wanted to go super harsh on you
100% racing incident
*The Incident* So, I watched that back at 1/4 speed about 10 times, and you can see you both hit the brakes at very nearly EXACTLY the same time, and BOTH cars twitch as the weight is transferred forward. Good video james😃👍
That 30 second penalty was too harsh imo, that was a racing incident or even a 5 second penalty at best
This stuff is going to replace real racing eventually.
Brilliant.
i wish it was easier to spectate events like this
are you ever going to release a video about your camera setting(fov)
How are your tyres not falling apart?
Nice vid jaaames I don't think that incident was penalty worthy but good race gg
where are the motec setup tutorials?
Great racings 😋
Amazing race💪💪💪
Judging just by the footage on this video, it looks to me like you moved under braking. However, 30s seems too much, unless they have specific ruling about this being the minimum or something like this.
It's bullshit to judge this incident at all because james gave the absolute worst possible footage he could. We'd need at least a straight camera angle and a view of james' steering input. Preferable both onboards as well. Of course on his channel absolutely everybody will side with james.
No penalty in my opinion.
Wasn't a 30 second penalty. You got screwed
The penalty should have been 5 seconds at most
30 secs is ridiculous
Very good job
Hamilton is that you in Barhrain?
The incident was not worth anything, you both where fighting there, you had the defensive line and he is a big beamer so ofc. he doesn't fit through it. I mean it was on both sides kind of dirty. either both get 30 or nobody. Whatever, amazing video and thank you for your awesome content!
There's no way you should got that penalty and definitely not 30 seconds
It was a racing incident and didn't affect the other guy or you in the end.
Hey james that was pretty bs i must say it shouldnt be 30 seconds pen should be 5 for that you had the line and he went off i myself raced in tsrl tier 6 split 3 last week at monza on f12020 and had similar incident to you where it was final lap and it was raining towards the end and i was in 3rd but was catching my team mate on the straight were in the merc btw and thought its last lap gotta go for it so i do he moves left blocks it so i move right see the opening make the move and as am braking and turning in on the right side i give him much room as i could we make slight contact its hard to tell on the footage as we turn in and he goes wide over the chicane and he also had a pen at that point and got another one for it for going off the track i think so hes appealing that and he feels that i forced him out wide but i didnt i tried being fair and went for it but weve sent our povs to the stewards and report is due to come out today so let you know what happens but i thought it was a good move in my eyes especially in the wet when using assists and dont think i should be penalised for it what would you do james if you was the stewards with our report of course you havent seen our footage we only make slight contact but like i said he goes off the track ?of course he wasnt happy with me after it but were ok with it now and ill happily accept what ever pen i get am still new to it so learning as i go am leading the championship 4 races in and still 1st
love it JAMESSSSSSSS
30 secs penalty for... nothing ?
I think the collision is just racing. If someone have to get a penalty id agree and say its you but in general this penalty is just trash tbh
Tbf you jumped the start not “got off the starting line better”
You know specsavers have re-opened right?
No hate, I know the game UI allows it sometimes but you were clearly ahead of him.
@@adamzamecnik9160 the Camara Angle is not the best here . There side by side before the Green
Could argue he did a unsafe rejoin 🤪
definitely a penalty but 5-10 seconds seems more reasonable, havent seen the british gt rule book though so would have tot ake a look to be certain
wooo new video :)
The mclaren ist fast .
Yeah 30 seconds is so extreme, he came out of the situation with the same gap to you wtf
