I've seen Captivating the King four times. Every time I found a new detail. The King speaks with his eyes. Even his way of breathing is so intense. JJS is an amazing actor. Perfect casting, colorful custome design, photography and direction. This is a really great list of historical kdramas. I've seen almost all of them. Thanks.
I agree. I saw him in many dramas and movies. I believe him in every single role. As the King Yi In he achieved one of the most perfects Joseon's kings in a historical drama. He's perfect as a comedian, as a dancer and as a singer. There's nothing he can't do well as an artist.
I've seen 8 of these. I've watch "Moon Lovers" twice (so far) because of Lee Joon Gi and the excellent cast. But mostly for Lee Joon Gi, tee hee. King's Affection would be number 2 for me. "Our Blooming Youth" and "Secret Romantic Guesthouse" were accidentally left off of this list, LOL. But thanks for compiling it.

I watched most of them. I really loved My Dearest, Moon Lovers and Alchemy of Souls, season 1. But one of my favourits is missing from the list: The Emperor: Owner of the Mask.
Empress Ki is well written, amazing performances, gives you a look into the history that China’s Yuan dynasty and how a Korean born woman became Empress of the Yuan Dynasty
My mind for now: 12.Night Blooming Flower 11.Shine or Go Crazy 10.Hwarang 9.Moon Embracing the Sun 8.Queen Seon Dock 7.Moon Lovers 6. Kingdom of Winds 5.Wind, Clouds and the Rain 4.Emperor of the Sea 3. Six Flying Dragons 2. Deep Rooted Tree 1.Jumong Top-5 I am going to watch: The Empress Ki; My Country: The New Age; Jewel in the Palace River Where the Moon Rises; The Red Sleeve.
on your list, i am yet to watch shine or go crazy night blooming flower wind, clouds and the rain deep rooted tree Red sleeve My country , the new age. i do not think anything will surpass Empress Ki, Jumong and Six flying dragons
@@rutendorusemo4792 Deep Rooted Tree is closely connected with Six Flying Dragons (last one is like prequel) so it can give a surprise I think. By the way since that post I finished River Where the Moon Rises (and really liked it, i think it would become 8 now). And I realized now that I have forgotten then in my first list "The Princess Man" - so it would now become number 10, but I think not for long as I feel Red Sleeve will join top-8 soon.
@@rutendorusemo4792 It would be interesting to know your thoughts after watching it. I will tell my own minds after watching Empress Ki. And make and tell a new list after watching top-5 dramas i am still going to watch (adding all I will really enjoy - for now it is close to 40% I have seen).
Watched all of them except Scarlet Heart and Alchemy of Souls. Alchemy of Souls is on my watch list and it's more fantasy than historical. The Red Sleeve, My Dearest, Forbidden Marriage are all fantastic. The Tale of Nokdu was meh. I thought River Where the Moon Rises with the same actress was better.
I agree River Where the Moon Rises was so good. The 2 series you haven’t watched yet, are both brilliant. I stayed off watching Moon Lovers, wondering what all the hype was about, absolutely mesmerised, Binged. It’s all they say it is. Absolutely brilliant. Red Sleeve, the court lady was so stubborn, she frustrated me. Currently watching My Dearest, half way, brilliant acting by the male lead, but the FL only wants her issues addressed, she frustrates me as well. I may not finish it……..
@@blacksorrento4719 Where did you watch Moon Lovers? I can't find it anywhere. The Red Sleeve was rather tragic. The reason why the court lady was stubborn because she did not want to end up in the exact situation she ended up in. My Dearest was inspired by Gone with the Wind.
@@Yusheesan I did send you 2 links on where to view Moon lovers, but RUclips has taken them off, even though one of the links was 20ep of the Moon Lovers series on RUclips, why they would delete their own channel is beyond me. Anyhow I hope you manage to view the series, because it deserves all the accolades. FYI My top 5 of historical Kdramas. No particular order. 100 days My Prince: Moon Lovers: Alchemy of souls: River Where the Moon Rises: My Country-New Age

Well said! I'm also a fan of Jo Jung-suk, he's a versatile actor with musical background. I liked him the most as comedian, he's very natural.
