We made paper from water hyacinths back when were still high school as a school project. It was very good and the paper was considerably special. One thing. Hyacinths may sometimes easily be concluded as problem to sewages but we are still to learn of it's vast uses and therefore these plants are not a menace. In all, this was a very good informative and educational presentation.
rigel tablon can you please provide us the process/procedures to convert water hyacinth into paper it would be great for developing nations like India where people still cut trees to produce papers 😢😢😓😓 it would be helpful for other developing nations to follow the steps and lead a good life . And please do the needful 🙏🏻🙏🏻
I truly appreciate the way Eichornia crassipes has been gainfully utilized in one part of India. This is a problematic invasive species found abundantly in most water bodies throughout the world. Being a water resources engineer, I have dealt with it at numerous occasions and know how problematic it is. I would like to visit the place where it is being harnessed in a beautiful fashion for the job creation as well as making multifarious products. I wonder whether indigenous people have evolved the know how/equipments on their own or some organisation has imparted the technology. A truly commendable and admirable initiative. Weeding this out from water bodies would provide additional 40,000 hectares of unused waterlogged land in Supaul,Saharsa and Purnia etc in Bihar- for large scale commercial cultivation of Makhan ( foxnut) - a water crop of stagnant water bodies. Initiative could revolutionise rural employment at no cost of raw material.Bravo indeed !
Thank you for the video.....didn't know this plant could be used in so many ways. Earlier, watched a Phillipino video where a couple of guys are using rakes to haul these plants from a plant clogged river. They feed the plants to their pigs, chickens and ducks.
Check the one in the Philippines (Pasig River, correct me if I'm wrong) cranes and boats are removing it and it looks like they are just removing a very tiny piece of it.
10 years on, how much progress has been made? Considering the labour costs involved, were you able to make products at a price that the market can afford?

Water hyacinth have beautiful mauve-colored flowers found on very appealingly-shaped floating plants in water in water bodies.These plants which were introduced into India for their lovely flowers have caused havoc by their excessive growth by causing blocks in our water ways. They grow faster than our ability to remove them. These are plants of water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipies) , The world's most problematic aquatic weeds, (TERROR OF BENGAL), They grow abundantly in eutrophic water bodies , and lead to an imbalance in the ecosystem dynamics of the water body .'PARASITIC' Soo your project was good , and video is amazing .
