Great External Eye Examinations in a Low Resource Environment

In this video we demonstrate an excellent smartphone tool for external eye examinations in both the high and low resource environments, the Eidolon Photo-Bluminator 2. These videos were taken during a recent medical mission to the Dominican Republic in June 2024 with over 40 medical students from the Universities of Alabama and South Alabama. Students from the Alabama College of Emergency Medicine were also present.

It is interesting to me all the different things you can use a phone for in medical profession now days.

Since a phone is a wonderful tool for this sort of exam, it would be nice if we could control the light level like you can on a slit lamp exam. Better yet, have the option for slit lighting like is used on a SLE or even an ophthalmoscope. Shouldn't be hard to develop for a phone. I'll give you first dibs on the patent. :)
