Born in 1957 in northern Hungary, guitarist/composer Ferenc Snétberger was the youngest son of a family of musicians. Early on his father, a guitar player also, became his role model. Snétberger studied classical music and jazz guitar. Today he is best known for his art of improvising and his crossing of stylistic borders. His music is inspired by the Roma tradition of his home country, Brazilian music and flamenco as well as classical guitar playing and jazz. He made numerous albums as a leader, co-leader and sideman and has toured all over Europe as well as Japan, Korea, India and the United States.

Volt szerencsénk a helyszínen élvezni Művész úr elképesztő tudását, érzelemgazdag játékát. Kevés olyan ember van a jelenlegi magyar kulturális-szellemi életben, akinek helye, emberi-művészi kvalitásai ennyire megkérdőjelezhetetlenek. Jó egészséget, alkotóerőt kívánok Snétberger Ferencnek, s még sok hasonló embert ennek az ezer sebből vérző, értékvesztett magyar társadalomnak.
Szerencsénk volt ott lenni Judittal tavaly ősszel ezen a szólókoncerten. Elképesztő meglepetésként ért most ez a felvétel. Halkan patakzik a könnyem az első perctől fogva. Az 1995-ös Signature album óta hallgatom Snétberger Ferencet. Milyen bosszantóan fiatal voltam. Ő lett jobb zenész? Nem hinném; nincs fokozat; már akkor frenetikus volt. Én változtam? Lettem az, aki most, 2024-ben? Őt hallgatva? Biztosan. Az idő hömpölygő zajlása nem kikerülhető; ezen a folyón senki sem úszik keresztbe. A felvételen minden hangja puha, borostyánárnyalatú, tömény áramlat, természetes rezonancia. Semmi kanyar, semmi hordalék, semmi overflow. Letisztultság, éteri dinamika. Túláradás nélküli abszolút intimitás. Egberto Gismonti, Paco de Lucía és Manolo Sanlúcar letisztult momentumai sem érintenek meg ennyire. A jelenleg élő 8 milliárd ember közül alig páran képesek így beszélni a hangszeren.
Eszembe jut, hogy 2012-ben - egy alig negyven férőhelyes repülőgépen - utaztam Berlinbe. Viharos, tavaszi nap volt. Fészkelődtem, szorongtam (vonatozni is félek, nemhogy repülni). Egyszer csak arra lettem figyelmes, hogy - utolsó felszállóként - az előttem lévő ülésen egy ikonikus alak foglal helyet. Komótosan elhelyezi a gitártokját a csomagtartóban, leül, beköti magát, majd a mellette ülő, karmazsinvörös száriba öltözött, szantálfaillatú indiai nőnek kezd el udvarolni. Kedvem lett volna megkocogtatni a vállát, autogrammot kérni. De nem voltam ennyire bunkó. Vigyorogva bekötöttem magam, ittam egy kortyot a hátizsákomba rejtett whiskyből, hátradőltem. Mire felocsúdtam, a repülőt a Szudéták fölött cibálta a turbulencia. Liftező gyomorral reflexből a whisky után nyúltam volna, de ekkor - a két ülés közötti résen - ismét megpillantottam Snétberger Ferencet. Egyetlen karnyújtásnyira, fényéveknyire. A légcsavaros repülőt rángatták az áramlatok, autogrammot megint nem kértem. Továbbra is nyájasan, meghitten diskurált németül az indiai hölggyel. Sóhajtottam egyet, és megnyugodtam. Tudtam, hogy minden rendben van. Tudtam, hogy ez a gép nem fog lezuhanni.
Félórán belül földet értünk a Tegelen. Megvártam, amíg mindenki leszáll. Kidobtam a whiskymet az első kukába. Hívtam egy taxit, és a berlini hotelszobában az első dolgom az volt, hogy kinyitottam az ablakot, és a laptopomról csutka hangerőn beraktam a Song To The East-et. Mert Snétberger muzsikája nagy hangerőn is halk marad, de halkan is elemi energiájú és harmóniát sugárzó.
Elképesztően Köszönöm ezt a sok évet, rengeteg másodpercet, tökéletes hangot.

Can not really believe that we have not heard this excellent musician before who successfully merges a variety of styles (perhaps because I have been brought up in a classical guitar tradition). His technique serves the music which he has composed; great harmonies. We shall be listening to more of his work ;-) Thanks for sharing.

L'erreur consiste à utiliser le capteur interne alors qu'on a placé deux excellents micros hypercardioides devant qui font tres bien le travail.
l'erreur consiste en la croyance qu'en mixant les deux source on a un son meilleur et plus complexe, et ça n'est pas vrai.
pourquoi ajouté du médiocre dans du tres bon ? et pourtant c'est ce que font la majorité des guitaristes ou ingénieurs du son.
En fait c'est comme si dans la soupe on mettait un bouquet d'herbes, puis un assaisonnement de sel et de poivre , et puis en troisième un grand verre de sucre en poudre, tout en affirmant que la soupe aurait meilleur gout !!! Chacun sait que ce serait une hérésie, une erreur grossiere.
Hé bien le capteur ajouté aux deux micros devant , c'est le verre de sucre dans la soupe. et ça rend son son trop brillant et linéaire à la fois, sans subtilités, subtilités qu'on aurait eues avec les deux micros placés devant.
Donc, oui on peut améliorer les choses en enlevant cette source de captation inutile. et qui n'est destinée qu' à l'amplification et non à l'enregistrement.
Oui, mais rien ne nous que ce n'est pas un choix du musicien...
C’est probablement juste un moniteur pour lui , avec les réglages à sa portée pour qu’il soit plus à l’aise.
Y a rien de plus dramatique qu’un musicien qui s’entend mal. Le son façade est peut-être juste les deux micro exclusivement. Mais je peux me tromper

This is actually terrible music. Any music that you can play whichever note you want to in is terrible music. Disorder is never music, it is just sound.

Well, yes, I actually did follow rules when courting a lady. I knew there were certain things I can do and there are some others I can't. This is exactly what you see in Indian classical music, where a very strict regulation on the interrelationships of notes is imposed to ensure the mood is strictly regulated, no mixture of ice cream and fish. That's why Indian classical musicians look with scorn at almost any other kind of music in the world, rightly so. It's incoherent madness on some instrument. "Anything goes" is the principle.
