Discussion between Princess Diana and Emmanuels about her dresses

- Prior to a royal visit to Saudi Arabia and the Middle East, Princess Diana meets with Elisabeth and David Emmanuel to discuss potential fashion pieces for her upcoming trip. Bearing in mind Islamic sensitivities, the princess has to wear full sleeve dresses, blouses and skirts. However, she wished that the clothes could be remodelled and altered so that they would be wearable in the non-winter months.

Just what I was thinking. It made me think of how powerful an advocate against fast fashion, she might have been. If we take how she took on the landmines, I think - perhaps - she might have had similar responses to some of the tragic mass deaths in clothes factories, at least, and certainly to the lives and conditions of child workers, and their female relatives that make our clothes. She was so personally close to designers, I wonder if she might have single-handedly have been able to put some breaks on an industry that now considers a fortnight as a "micro season", exploits the poor to produce flimsy clothes, which are then advertised to woman and girls, exploiting their vulnerabilities (which Diana shared) to get them to feel inadequate unless they buy them. 🤔
@@HandmadeDarcy Thank you for this is very detailed and analytical reply, I do agree she could have had great influence in those areas. Sadly, what people do see of her landmine work are only snippets and outtakes on RUclips, and accuse her of not being 'bright enough' or 'sincere enough' to participate, which just makes me so mad. She was royalty after all, and was definitely INFLUENTIAL enough. She always wanted to use her status, royalty or otherwise, to do good.

She spent $14.000 a month in designer out fits , wearing these outfits when visiting the homeless under privileged orphanages and people struggling in hospice care .wow that’s recycling doubt it . Diana married a prince to become a somebody . Had she not married Charles she would have still been working part time living in her flat that mommy bought and living of her parents money . @@rhyfelwrDuw it wasn’t convenient for him that he was forced into a marriage he didn’t want. He tried to go along with it, but it made them both miserable. If Diana was a princess, and had been forced to marry Charles, you wouldn’t be saying the same thing.

This morning I was in front of Saint Paul and I remembered her beautiful entrance in that gorgeous tafta wedding dress...a beautiful woman and a lovely bride. Always in our hearts ❤️.
I like her humility. It's heard in her sift voice. It's seen in her simplicity and kindness towards others.
She was so adorable, shy, natural, beautiful eyes and smile.
I wasn't a fan of Diana until I watched her former chef who spoke about her and she sounded so down to earth and lovely! Apparently she would pop into the kitchens and make a cuppa for the staff and sit down chatting to them!
In this video she is so natural, getting down onto the floor to look at designs etc!
How sad she is no longer with us!
All the royals would do that though. Prince Phillip used to take the fish he caught at Balmoral and Sandringham to the kitchens and help cook it. And Charles always used to pop in with the vegetables he grew in his own gardens. It's sad only Diana gets recognition for being nice

Currently, now that he’s king, Charles has acted life an angry baby pitching angry tantrums about silly stuff. It’s shameful. Diana was warm and accessible all the time. The others aren’t that nice in public. Simple as that.
No one in that position would make a cup of tea for staff.

Just sent this to my cousin as her grandmother was a pattern cutter who worked for the Emmanuels and cut dresses for Princess Diana.

Met her in 1990, She was shy and very nervous, even when no cameras were on her. and her skin was amazing.

@@endlessjoychannel71 My family had just spilt up, and we were living in a homeless shelter in London, (West Hampstead). It was Jan 1990. And her visit was known for months beforehand. She personally came and sat with us in a separate room for a short period of time to discuss our situation.
Weeks leading up to the visit they brought sniffer dogs to the shelter to make sure it was legit for her visit. When she left, 2 little old lady's came round the corner and almost fainted at the sight of her, she walked fully across the road on her own and shook their hands. She wore a beautiful green outfit and was extremely shy, her blushing skin was very visible, You could tell she was struggling with the attention from the cameras, which had hoarded into the house, and were everywhere outside.
I was only a 14 year old lad at the time, but i remember her as clear as day. The actual road she visited was Agamemnon Rd (A tiny residential road). Got loads of pics, she signed my sisters plaster cast, and my brother and sister made the six o,clock news talking about her visit. Did i leave anything out, lol.

@@endlessjoychannel71 She was just asking about our lives, and how we were coping with being homeless. It was a weird situation, because there was a lot of commotion around that day.

Heh, me too! I thought she was not quite as pretty as I had thought. I was relieved to see the "real" Diana once they entered the sitting room. For our excuse, David's haircut is remarkably like Diana's. Men don't wear their hair like that now.

Unsurprisingly, lady Diana Spencer passed the Balmoral test with flying colours as the Prince of Wales' Parents recognised personality traits in the 18yr old that were present in them; a pity the Prince loved someone else, even then.
