I've never sewn anything in my life. I build custom cabinets for a living and I've been doing it for over 20 years. I STILL got advice I will use to get better at my work from this video.
I dig what you’ve got going on there… I’m a retired army veteran, been working with leather and Cordura for decades as well , unfortunately I never made it as far as you have, just a guy and a couple sewing machines. I totally appreciate and understand your insights into production and bombproof quality Well played sir !
John. I agree on speed when sewing multiples versus a single item. One thing, even when you have a machine with automatic features like thread trimming: use a run-off tab. Saves pulling and trimming thread. Keeping a couple at each machine really speeds up working time, and also improves quality by not potentially leaving longer thread tails
This is so bad ass! I am just scratching the surface with learning to run a sewing machine. More for personal knowledge. But thank you for the pointers and knowledge.
Awesome video. I sewed a pair of shorts when I was younger they didn’t fit. Did a sew test for a backpack manufacturer out west. Failed the test not sure why, but ask is good. Will be following this series
Loving these videos! I came from an auto upholstery background and am slowly building my business in the nylon market. These are extremely helpful and a good reminder of some of the stuff I’ve forgotten over the years when I wasn’t sewing. Definitely gonna keep an eye out for those little screw drivers!
Damn…I missed this. To be fair I was at least sewing some stuff up. Thanks for the content on constructing gear, explanation of materials and just history. Easy there boo boo..lol.
i’m just beginning with industrial sewing. so two question ls? what material is your tacticle gear made of ? and how do you design new products? do you make paper patterns, and add a seam allowance? just interested in your design process. thanks
Fucking Hilarious multiple clicks to finish this video... Every Fucking add was for other nylon gear.. RUclips some of us pay to watch SOE .. Why waste the add... Thanks John and SOE Crew for these videos...

Just starting my fourth year with my hobby sewing business, and I’m still learning new stuff all the time. Repetition is still the best teacher, IMO.

Just like everything in life. If you don’t watch it, it’ll run off the rails on ya.
I see them crazy trucker videos.

Most quality gear is made out of Cordura nylon. Design process is probably patterns as with most other fabric based items.
