Props to Henning... a month of his reviews talked me into grabbing a syn-1, BMan and Plexi. Going to be using it with Torpedo Live for now. If I like I will add several other modules. Might consider the power amp and cab later.
So very helpful, I thank you for your videos. This especially, helped me to much better understand the Syn-1 than any other video. Also, loved seeing your cat in another video 😻
Hahaha Henning, the Nick Johnston sig was an excellent choice for that part! Sounds like you've really learned something from him melodically, I want more of that!
Do the effects in the SYN1 effects loop go out to the mixing board via the DI out? I was very disappointed when I found out that is not the case for the Fryette PS100 Power Station. Trying to decide between the 2 products.
On the power amp issue I think most old school designs rely on the power amp sound a lot for what we love especially the Fender Tweeds, VOX AC30, Plexi, Matchless, Victoria, Morgan the power section on these makes a huge difference not just tube choice but feedback loop, bias (fixed vs cathode), class a (single ended small tweeds) etc. On more modern amps MESA, Deizal, new Marshalls, VHT, even high power Twins sound great as long as its a nice clean power amp it makes less difference. Now you might like the VOX AC30 preamp with a huge headroom clean 6l6 power amp (some people hate the sound of el84s cathode biased) but it wont sound much like an AC30.
Were you using power amp modelling in the Torpedo C.A.B? Its the one thing that intrigues me about the Two Notes stuff, as the power amp harmonics and sag are important to my tone.
Thanks for the Suhr guitar reply Henning. Good to know about their service. Hey dude. This thing actually seems pretty interesting. it's like a tube powered 4 cable method in a way, obviously. I like the "seperate" fx loop option. You could make one HUGE daisy chain with that thing!!!!!.............don't do it......NO! DON'T DO IT!!!!!And I must say bro, your playing is sounding pretty fine sir. I guess you really don't suck. God Bless man.
@@EytschPi42 Thank you so much or replying. But that is pops and buzzers to me.I went the fx loop route; I went the amp out to line in route. All I get is the Fryette clean tone, no preamp. The module lights are on but none of the knobs make a differnce/the preamp is not engaged. As well, the module is not in bypass mode. Is there something I am missing here? I've reached out to both Synergy and Fryettee--nothing thus far. Thank you, again, for responding. I know there are a lot of demands upon your time and I cannot thank you enough for engaging me. It means the world.
To use the Older Torpedo C.A.B. as the Speaker Sim, do you still connect to the XLR D.I. out ??? the newer CAB has an XLR in I believe but the older square one (as shown in video) only has 1/4 inch ???
hey, did you get that setup? i have the syn-1 for a long time, but i will be adding a cab m+ in a few days for flexible cab simulation other than the one on the syn-1. i am still thinking about the setup. am i meant to go from the XLR Di Out or from the 1/4 inch main out into the cab m+? i would be grateful if you have the answer. cheers.
@@KramerPacer2 I have done it and many other signal flow. For awhile, I was running pedal board front into synergy 1 & 2, then into audio interface, back out on multi channels to CAB, and rack mount sim (forget the name), then back into audio interface (XAir 18).
I found it hard to hook up my synergy syn-1 to JMP-1 Preamp + Marshall Power amp El34 100/100. I did the suggested method from the manual and video and it turned up i was connecting to the FX loop of the JMP-1 preamp and it sounded thin. any suggestions that might help ?
Another thing that i didn't like, the FX loops when it's engaged even with effects turned off, it thins out the sound and i loose the lower ends, anyone having the same issue ?
What’s the deal if I want to use a vh4 module to remplace my revv distorsion with a strymon iridium pedal in my pedal chain ? Where is the out in this module ? Fx send to the strymon iridium ? Guitar >Nobel distortion >double mono fuzz > vh4 module >iridium >light game changer left > avalanche run right > strymon el capistan stereo > torpedo studio
how does it "disable" the head's pre-amp when having it connected to my own amp? by only sending the signal via the Syn1's FX out to the FX loop input of my own amp instead of to the front?
cdh79 He inserts a short video on the initial hookup. It’s called the “4 cable” method. There actually is a cable coming from the Syn-1 to your amps front input. Your guitar is plugged into the Syn-1. I wondered this myself before the very helpful video.
December, 2023: Not as many new modules as Henny mentions here have actually been added to the lineup. Still enough to cover most of the bases, though.
This is a really cool idea but personally as somebody who could probably only ever afford one of these amps the modules are still really expensive as opposed to saving up for something like a bias head or similar "all in one" modeling solution.
They sound good in this video, but trying them will make musicians decide. I hope they'll be available in most stores, the price can allow that. If I could change something right now, I'd change the colours of the modules. Now, they look the same boring black! IMO they should have some similar colour and look like the amps they represent! We know, that the first thing a product meets is the eye. These modules can be collected like pedals, and we know how important it is for a pedal to have a good look. Are more modules from other brands expected?
Anyone here using these modules with a Helix, or AxeFx? I have a Headrush and an Atomic Reactor112. I'd like to have both go into the Atomic for power, but also be able to use the Headrush for effects and for other amp and speaker simulations.
Fabulous idea and a great product but I question the price. The reason? I can buy A Kingsley Constable (plexi) and Paige DS(Dumble) pre amps both valve and handmade, for less than a Syn 1 and one module. I think the Price of the modules is ok but the syn 1 needs to come down. £500 is simply too much. The other reason I struggle with the price is If I want the Vox sound for example I can just buy an AC15 head for not that much more than a single module and that includes the right power amp. I see this product being most at home in the studio especially for high gain applications, which most of the modules appear to be.
Great video Henning I just got the SLO to add to the Metro Plex. MY GOD what a great sound. Keep up the great work hope to see you at NAMM
still happy with the slo?
@@NO-TALK-GuitarPlugin Yes I love it.

Fukin awesome, finally sum1 that I can understand when it comes to good gear, thanks Henning
Bedroom player with 5w and 1w amps. Can they go into low wattage amps or does it need a large power section.
sure... small amps will work!

Henning, can you use the XLR and the main out at the same time? So for example XLR->Mixer and Main Out -> Small Amp as on Stage Monitor?

a question... can the synergy syn 1 be connected directly to a speaker? Does it have a power amplifier inside?
How would you run the SYN 1 through a Fryette PS100?
Ahm, plug it in and play

Couldn't you run a Friedman pedal into the effects return on your amp, ostensibly making the pedal your preamp?
fine video! And many thanks for showing us reverb.com, which helped instantly. best regards, Chris
I play through an Ampeg bass head with my 7 string guitar... do they make bass amp versions?

yes it does

@@tommann876 Thanks Tom.. my explanation (while maybe a bit difficult to understand) is basically the 4-cable method.

can you make a review of mooer radar please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
tell Mooer that, they don’t seem to want to work with me!
'They're all getting paid', as you say. Apart from Marshall who they just 'stole' the Plexi & JCM800 pre amps from!
Yes. And the Fender preamps...
I used to like you.........
We all want to hear you grunt and slurp down candy. What an unfortunate personality on this one.
Bad idea to talk with your mouth full!
Would this work with a decent solid state amp?
it would work, but I am not sure how well... I think it might depend more on the speaker than on the power amp.
Jesus, that was a quick reply. Thanks!
