    Great advice, it's always better to have a little headroom as you said meaning more power to combat box or impedance rise, and it would also be advisable to take advantage of the technology out there like smart amplifiers that would play whatever power they are rated at, at 4, 2, or 1 ohm loads. Taking into consideration the individual is on par with proper electrical for their equipment.

    I’m thinking of running 1 xspowerd4800 under the hood and 1 in the trunk and a 290A alternator with (2)2/0 wires each battery gets there own 2/0 directly from the alternator or should I put 1 wire from alternator to from battery and 1 wire from front battery to rear battery with 2/0 wire and 1 500A isolater in between batteries. I’m going to be powering 2 Solo X 12s the new ones. With (2) cxa1800.1

    I have 3 Skar audio SVR 10 inch dual 2 ohm subs paired to a JP23 amp. I feel like they are under powered. I check the ohm load and it seems like the ohm load is all over the place when checked never stable. No I'm not playing them when trying to get ohm load. I wanted some close to 1.3 but its seems like they are closer to maybe 2 maybe 3. Not sure like I said. I have tested one at a time 2 measure like 2.6 the other closer to 2 ohm but when connected together they just bounce all over. and yes I got them all from you down4sound. I might just go with 2 12's next.

    What I still don't understand. Is if I'm running 6 speakers that are 200 watts rms, do I multiply the 200 by 6 and that mean I need a 1200 watt amp? Or do I still only need about a 400 watt amp? Cause seems like to me if I have one 1200 watt amp feeding them 6 speakers. Then all 6 will be getting 1200 watts. When they only can handle 200 rms and 400 max. I just can't figure it out.

  • @russellcrabtree5314

    But you underrate and if someone orders to match rms a person could overpower the subwoofers causing the motors to overheat. Don't get me wrong your amplifiers are fantastic, but maybe you should change the rms ratings to match testing.

    • @BrianWaller-qe7gr
      @BrianWaller-qe7gr 11 месяцев назад +1

      Exactly the jp33 can do 5k watts so that 3300 rms is grossly underestimated. If someone buys a jp33 and doesn’t know what they’re doing it can easily blow a lower end sub.

    A 2000w at 1ohm amp running at 800w at 4ohm will run way cooler then running a 800w rms amp at 1ohm correct ??? I'm looking at some amplifiers an see the price isn't that big of a difference between the say 1000w versus the 2000w amps. Is it worth the extra money to run a bigger amp at higher ohms an maybe not pushed to the maximum. I'm looking at the efficiency at 4ohms is normally higher then at 1ohm.

    • @BrianWaller-qe7gr
      @BrianWaller-qe7gr 11 месяцев назад +1

      Efficiency is what keeps amps cool. If an amp is highly efficient say 80%+ it will run cooler than a less power amp where the efficiency is below 70%. Efficiency is calculated based on how many watts it produces divided by the amp current draw it takes to achieve that wattage

    • @BrianWaller-qe7gr

      @@mikellewis2346 a higher power amp will inevitably have higher power even at higher impedance like 4 ohms. Just saw the dyno video of the jp23v2 rated at 800 rms at 4 ohms did way over that.

    I usually do 1 1/2 the power of the sub to the amp. If the sub is 1,000 watts then I'll use a 1,500 watt rms amp

  • @BrianWaller-qe7gr
    @BrianWaller-qe7gr 11 месяцев назад

    It’s always safe to go over rms ratings of your sub by 25-30%. Reason is to account for box rise. So a 3k rms sub you can safely get an amp of 3500 rms. Because the sub won’t actually see 3500 because of box impedance rise

    Rule 2- Takes power to make power. Alt, battery, and caps.
    Rule 3- Get a reputable box builder before you buy subwoofer. Space decides everything.

    I think what people don't understand is clean watts versus dirty watts....for example if you ran a JP13 at 1 ohm to get max power (2000 watts ) that amp has very little resistance on it so its playing very wide open and getting hot and most likely clipping on certain nots....if you ran a JP 63 at 4 ohms and its you get the same 2000 watts but the amp has high resistance and playing very cool with a lot of headroom so its controlling the subwoofer much better. I always run my amps way over the subwoofers power rating and tune it back to match the subwoofer. People think yeah your "wasting power" i look at as im "controlling my sub and letting the amp breathe" see the difference....amp last forever, doesint get hot, subwoofer loves it, and it sounds much better for all those reason....running an amp wide open means you get almost zero headroom, gets hot as hell, looses control of the sub at points, and will eventually fail from heat from either the sub or the amp...or both. These are the facts..I run a b2 audio rage 2500.s on 2 JL audio 10W1-4 at 2 ohms....it sounds awesome, it breathes, the subs love it, and it DOES NOT GET HOT!!!!!!!!! your welcome....

    I am running a single skar zvx 18 in my extra cab Toyota Tundra. It is 1500 watts RMS but it has dual 1.5 ohm voice coils so I have it wired to three quarter ohm on a stetsom Vulcan 3K. All the proper electrical upgrade plus two extra AGM's to support it does fine and at three quarter ohm, even with rise, this will regularly kick out over 3000 Watts. And I am able to beat it to pieces with no distortion, no clipping, and a proper box build. I will never again buy an amplifier less than twice the RMS rating of my subwoofers as there is no such thing as too much power, just you being a douchebag. But then again I have this nasty habit of doing the rest of my installs properly and buying decent equipment to support gobs of power.
