I do something "easier" that I call the "horse mount" .
Instead of the side mount, which is really an inside sweep and cross motion.
I bring the leg "over the back" of the saddle and sit. Like how you get on a horse.
I learned to do this, because I would practice SIF idling a lot.
Some people also call that the "dead mount" because the pedals are at 12 and 6 o'clock = the dead zone.
Which is really a misnomer, because a unicyclist doesn't only "push straight down" on the pedal.
The pedal is also pushed fore/aft.

I wonder if it is possible to do sidemount when the unicycle is not in front, but in the back?
When you showed that you should try to take a step forward and then a step back, at that moment I thought about it. Do you think it's possible? .

The unicycle should be on your side, but you could start with your foot in front. It would be like a step back, but up instead.
