I kind of don't understand why would they make herrera so feeble and weak while they had no problem introducing an eight ton monster lurking in the water practically invulnerable and being able to either one-shot or quickly drown nearly any other dino in the game's roster. Giving a dino an effective stealth/safety mechanic doesn't mean you have to nerft its stats to the ground in return.
There is one beastie you do NOT want to play right now. The Bepi. Two of us spawned at Water Access. We ran to the Sanctuary near Verdant Pool. _The place you were at._ All fed and now 70% grown, we moved to our Migration zone. In the Swamp. From the sanctuary to Delta, we found _ONE_ Bullfrog. Nothing else. No other food. No crabs or schooling fish. _NADA!_ Needless to say, we both succumbed to starvation 3/4ers the way through the Delta.
Beipi eats plants as well, I'm surprised none were available ;-; I haven't played beipi at all on gateway since the first stress test, but I probably should soon
I think half the issue with Envirma lately is that the devs have focused too much on adding new Dinos with neat mechanics, which in and of itself is a good thing as it keeps things fresh and keeps people playing, but issue is they don’t focus enough on creating a viable and full food chain/Ecosystem. When the map is difficult to navigate for everyone (especially deinos with the waterfalls), stamina gets nerfed to hell, and the migration mechanic doesn’t really work, since food still spawns consistently outside of migration zones, you don’t incentivize people to move about. Thus, you have the issue with hotspots where 70% of the playerbase, carnivores, all hang out. When those are the only areas with people, you don’t have much incentive to explore elsewhere or play herbivores (especially when stuff like dryo and hypsi are so pathetically weak as to make them unfun in some cases). This then further encourages people to simply play carnivores and treat the game as a Deathwatch rather than a survival simulator. Once they work things out better to encourage people to play a wider variety of creatures, then finally will Herrera be played, as then you might have viable prey options. Finally might you see packs of carnivores claim “hunting territory” like you see irl, or perhaps see lone hunters try to follow herds for food. But as of right now, it’s sadly not the case. I do have hope though that there will be further changes that bring the game back to a more survival dino sim focus.
Yeah, recent changes have not been conducive to exploration. They did change stamina again today in the most recent patch, so we'll see how that plays out
@@dinometta hopefully it helps encourage exploring. I think the stamina changes weren’t bad in theory, if they were meant to help with pvp issues, but when dealing with a large map, it can be an issue. I usual hang out in NE plains or east plains as you said they are the only hotspots but I usually find it fun even confined to one area maybe spiro has been burned into my brain to long but I never find myself wishing to explore more NE has a gigantic tree where dilos and Dennis normally fight under its high enough it can reach breaking your leg and killing you from the top so I usually find myself there rather hunting or nesting more recently east plains where I never hung out after I reached 20% because I found ne more appealing but it’s quite easy to kill things there I even killed an adult dilo because it was hungry enough to keep coming back for food and I am a deino main so sitting until my hunger drains in a tree is no challenge so all the complaints people have about herrara pretty much don’t apply to me so I would say that herrara is the best thing other that deino that’s a lot from me considering I have played deino since it was in stress test and have mained it since unfortunate you cannot find as much dopamine as I do with bellyflopping people in the same place for hours like I do Also the fact you also say bellyflopping just makes me so happy lol
Yeah, different strokes for different folks! I love to explore and travel, so ambush predators aren't really for me. But that's okay, I still had fun being a pest for a few days!
As Herrera I spend a lot of it at this huge lake. Lasted days (irl) surviving there (off purely deer... My night vision was terrible even with 3 lines diets)- then I got sick of it and got reckless and died to a stego bc I had no stam
Nice making it to adult! My Herrera unfortunately was put down by a pair of 80% pachies at 50% growth (me) because I was scavenging of a corpse within their vicinity Fun times
I had a few encounters with pachys. One sat under my tree while I was out of stam and close to starvation for ages. I went red right as he got distracted by another herra, and escaped while the other sacrificed himself unknowingly for me. I had pity for pachys last update. I don't anymore.
@@dinometta I was also beipi today and I think I was in your escape from east plains pond . A whole herd of a teno, a young pachy, two adult stegos and a juvie stego were by that pond. There is a tree in the middle of East lake that can seat quite a few Herraras. When you're an adult you can also jump more or less over the water back onto land from the taller trees. I agree it's a bummer that everyone is congregating here instead of having a nice spread over the map. Can't really blame them though since AI wasn't/isn't spawning in those other areas.

Recently picked the game back up and have been trying out everything. Omni kill me more than anything. I've met tons of Stegos, Dibble, Cera, most of them let me live while I learned the new mechanics and map. Omni attack me every single time, even if I'm full grown and they're a fresh spawn. No matter what dino I play, whether I'm on the diet list or not. Now I main herra and sit in trees and protect most other dinos that seem nice enough when they come across the zone I'm staying in and will pounce every and any omni I find. I killed about 20 omni in just one gameplay session, 12 babies and 8 adults or sub adults. Such a fun and satisfying feeling knowing I'm sending these Omni back to character creation after so many avoidable deaths to asshole Omni players.
Yeah, just wait until Omni grapple goes to main branch x[ Everything I've seen so far is.... Not ideal. Two omnis being able to pin an adult cerato? One pinning a full stam pachy after nibbling it once? Yeah not great
@@dinometta As a herra main for now, I'm fine with them doing anything they want with Omni as long as it still only takes a jump and couple hits to kill them full grown. In fact if omni ever pin anything near me I prefer that they have pin so that whatever they're pinning doesn't sprint off with them. They're just stuck in one spot thinking they have a nice meal soon until I land on one of their skulls.
I think the stamina on heras jump should be reduced and let it be able to regain it while climbing but other than that herrera is fine imo, people are annoyed that its small and weak but I mean dude do you expect herra to 1v1 an adult raptor twice its size 🤣 not to mention that it can ALREADY do that, if it lands 2 or 3 pounces. Its bite isnt bad either, like ok its weak but its also super fast, and enough to make quick work of smaller creatures. I feel ya about the hotspots, I literally couldnt play because I knew EVERYONE is just at east plains, before the ai fix (which idk how much they actually FIXED ai, still seems bare to me) I was trying to survive as carno and dilo, and only 1 of each got past starvation as fresh spawn, and I was clutching 90% of the time as either of these because there was no food and no players, and stamina feels pretty bad rn too, Im usually very positive but stamina wise I think it should be like before but a little more time than it usually took, I mean if you look at Path of Titans, it takes less than a minute for the ENTIRE ROSTER to regain stamina but people are still very wary of how they use it. I dont think it should be crazy fast like that but 3 or more minutes for small crreatures even and 5+ for big things just sucks, because youre wanting to play the game thus it feels longer, not to mention how fast your food drains and how the stam system works, like if Im 80% stam it would still take only slightly less than if I was 0% stam to regen because its based on how long youre sitting, which you zhouldnt be sitting for a while getting your stam bac, fro. 80%, imo at least. Ill be honest I wish I was speaking from 100% knowledge from my experience but most of this is either guessing or exaggeration because I play PoT more just because its more fun to play, I just wish The Isle felt like I wish it wouldve when I didn't have the game, I watched videos on it ALL the time when I was little because actual dinosaur survival games are so rare, I was used to Primal Carnage being the closest to The Isle gameplay wise at the time 🤣 but especially with evrima being the wip branch now instead of legacy it just feels like a different game, at least compared to the one I always wanted for years
Yeah herra needs better stam for jumping and to use less when climbing. Even just base speed climbing takes stamina, which sucks. Herra can kill an adult raptor with a headshot from a great enough height, but it's a pretty significant one. Anyway, my biggest issue is the hotspots right now. Because I refuse to engage with them when I don't absolutely have to (because mixpacking, cuddling, and hackers isn't my jam), I spent 3 hours last night wandering the map and saw a total of 5 other players. And yet, AI was so plentiful that despite that, I didn't come even remotely close to starving. In fact, one of the tenos I was trying to hunt literally ignored me in favor of killing a nearby boar to try and "prove" I didn't need to hunt him(too bad boar doesn't have s diet for dilo, I needed the teno's heart, not simple food, so the hint continued until he fled to hide behind 6 stegos and 3 other tenos) Regardless, starvation isn't the problem anymore. People are staying at NE because that's where people are. And it becomes an ugly cycle where those who don't want to be there end up there in the end because otherwise they won't find other players. Until the devs remove NE and E spawn from the majority of carnivores, it'll remain a hotspot. 95% of those in the area are carnivores, because they can simply eat each other. And herbivores still have to move around for their diets. Take that spawn away from the carnivores and leave it for the herbivores that have migrations out there so the carnivore players have to actually *travel* to get there, and the hotspot will die. No more constant free fresh spawn meals and simply respawning and running right back to their giant cuddle puddle means the carnivores will have to start spreading out again. Also, we desperately need more herbivores. There's so many carnivores and only 1 actually enjoyable herbivore to play(teno, because stego is boring and pachy just dies to everything without stun on initial area break, hypsi and dryo are meh and galli is also pretty meh overall). The devs need to heavily focus on adding more herbs to the playable roster. We need better herbivore spread but we're not getting that with the lackluster herb roster we currently have.
@@dinometta hopefully diablo will add more to the herbi playerbase, glad ai is working, hopefully I can actually get used to the map because I dont have to sprint everywhere looking for food 🤣, idk if a new spawn system would help hotspots though, imo thats not a “fixable” thing, it just depends on where the players decide to go. Its like if they added a system that made no sense so dienos couldnt just camp water and attack things because they’re undetectable and its “not fair” if you get ambushed by one (that probably made no sense at all but hopefully it did lol kinda bad example).
@@dtbrex08 My thought process with the change in spawns is that the vast majority of those hanging out in the hotspots simply spawn there and never leave. They eat other fresh spawns while they grow, then continue to eat fresh spawns and growing cuddle puddlers. If they have to spawn all the way in West rail, for example, even if they want to get to NE, they'll have to travel across the map to do so. Therefore creating more movement within the rest of the map as they are growing and feeding themselves as they travel to get to the place they want to be.
@@dinometta ah right that makes more sense, I'll agree it definitely sounds super annoying when you put it that way lol, especially with me being used to IC in PoT, so it's SUPER annoying lol
The biggest thing is the fact that leaving the hotspots as Herrera is pretty well a death sentence. I have fun slapping things and what not, but I personally enjoy traveling the map. There's a lot of incredibly cool places that I'd love to explore as herrera that just aren't viable due to its incredibly fast hunger and food drain mixed with their low stamina when jumping and climbing through the trees. With just a few tweaks, it'll better live up to what it should be. For now it's fun in bursts as long as you stay in highly populated areas.
I always knew that migrations wouldn´t work out because if there is people there it´s a hotspot but people can always stay outside of it. Herbis don´t need diets to live. They can simply eat grass and when people start always spawning in one area that creates another hotspot where everyone goes instead of migration zones as they are mostly empty. Adding that together with ai only spawning in hotpots makes people even more inclined to just spawn and live at hotspots and not explore or be on the move. then also considering that things don´t work as they should. broken mechanics. One I noticed...I wasn´t able to nest as herrera...like I could place the spot where the nest should be but no sticks were spawning, Dilo Hallucinations as seen in the video seem to be...stray? Holes in the map. Migrations still being broken. Audio overlapping and making it almost impossible to be in hotspots because you can´t hear things and therefore dying because you only hear static and no approaching danger, visual glitches and some others. I won´t touch the game for the time being as I can´t bear the audio anymore. Been there ever since evrima first released, was gone for some time but came back in Gateway and has just been getting worse. I really hate it since I do wanna play and be a tree gremlin and a menace to dino society

@@dinometta Yeah and the want to encourage moving about...but it´s just not working with the current system. It makes no sense. At this point they are just fumbling the bag hard. I would have way more hours if I could but the audio bug is literally game breaking and even endangers people. Whenever I try to play for longer than 10-20 minutes I get a migraine because of it
AI shouldnt be spawning where people are in my opinion, they should be spawning elsewhere, like why have easy accessible food when there are a lot of players in the area, migration is so broken, it hardly moves and only does a small circle in the same exact area, i can grow three carnos in the same spot without the migration moving.
I say its improved, duh theres gonna be problems lol but I dont think its THAT much worse, if ai and pounce could be fixed + maybe stam changes it would be better, tbh Im just tired of people being so negative, sure its got problems but so does every game and again its not THAT bad, being negative is only gonna make it worse if anything.

The issue is hotspots and being forced to stay in crappy locations otherwise starve tbh, that and AI can detect you no matter where you are so getting a pounce on them is hard and annoying
this is why u keep a water bottle with u when playing a game that takes hours to progress and have fun jn
as a herra i use to play as a scavenger, rarely fighting, and when i doo, is with a pack, and yes, i am a coward...thats why i play with a little davil that hide in the trees...
Whenever i play as Herrera, i would always spawn east for food, then i would migrate to north east to kill juvies, always works out for me (until i get killed) but at least im never hungry or thirsty since theres a safe spot to drink from
Yup, seems like that's about the only way to live as herra in the long term. Starvation becomes a very real threat outside of the hotspots
That is why you have to look for the tree saplings. You can still rest on them and out of harms way.
Those are fine, but I'd rather just not be forced to exist in such a non-herrera friendly area
@@dinometta try river delta where the 2 big platues are or the big island in the swamp with the huge mud hole on it. Best herrara spots I've been to out of the whole map. Plenty of AI and places to climb.
The title should be "My life as a cheeky little devil"
Lmao actually true though xD
0:43 I haven't watched the fully video yet but I need to say this before I forget, if you pounce on top of a Galli's head from high enough I'm pretty sure you can one shot it, also it can kill Omnis by landing a high enough pounce to their heads followed by a single bite, two head pounces can kill Dilos and Pachys. And it can even stun Carnos and Ceras when it lands on them, Herrera honestly far exceeded my expectations because despite being much smaller than it's legacy counterpart, it's far more capabile. Herrera is also the first playable in the game that can deal more damage than it's own HP.
Yeah, I actually managed to kill an adult Omni at one point. Unfortunately my recording software decided to be stinky that session and recorded only a black screen 😭
I don't dislike herrerra as a playable, I do think it's more fun when I'm able to go where I want and still find food wherever I end up.
@@dinometta Damn that's unfortunate, and yea there's still a hot spot issue but at least now you can survive outside of them since AI actually does frequently spawn outside of hotspots. At least that's what I experienced yesterday and the day before.
8:26 I cannot guarantee but that baby dilo over there (the one that got bit but lived) might have been me, I have had this same thing happen to me as a juvie, in a VERY similar place and I ran after being bit by a herrera that jumped on a corpse I was eating, I don't remember if there was someone else near me tho. If that dilo survived too it's possibly me, you gave me the scare LMAO
Tis always possible!!
The problem with Gateway is almost all AI food meat spawns there.
And if You find yourself starving try fishing on the surface where fish jump in the streams.
Yeah they changed the ai spawning and it has been my least favorite change they've ever made.
I like the amount of violence you choose using the little dinosaur. Good video.
Thank you!
Awesome video as always :)
Thanks!
Amazing video, love the interesting music you played for it! Id love to play the isle but recently I haven't been able to play it, not sure if it's the updates or internet but I can't use any special abilities like (Herrera drop/pounce/jump/climb-Utah pounce-Carno charge) anything as so, it just glitches out :C! Anyway keep up the lovely content! Also I hear the little budgies in the background which makes me so happy since I have some of my own hehe!
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed!!
I'm not sure what might be making your abilities bug out though, that's weird!
I really enjoy watching your vids. Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much!
Thankfully in the more recent patch, herra has been buffed a bit and can now 1 shot raptors and I believe dilos
Love it! Please longer videos…!❤
Hopefully the next one will be longer!!
There is one beastie you do NOT want to play right now. The Bepi.
Two of us spawned at Water Access. We ran to the Sanctuary near Verdant Pool. _The place you were at._
All fed and now 70% grown, we moved to our Migration zone. In the Swamp.
From the sanctuary to Delta, we found _ONE_ Bullfrog. Nothing else. No other food. No crabs or schooling fish. _NADA!_
Needless to say, we both succumbed to starvation 3/4ers the way through the Delta.
Beipi eats plants as well, I'm surprised none were available ;-;
I haven't played beipi at all on gateway since the first stress test, but I probably should soon
Like with Pteranadon, it was offer to try to explore from above as you had to rest constantly and it took ages.
They should make AI for the jungle as that would probably be the best place for Herreras
I agree. Herrera belongs in the thick jungles. We need more reason to exist in them
@@dinomettamaybe parrots in the trees or monkeys?
And lizards
Love the video Meta keep them coming XD
Thanks! I'll do my best!!
look how cute the little carnos are running naaw so cute
I usual hang out in NE plains or east plains as you said they are the only hotspots but I usually find it fun even confined to one area maybe spiro has been burned into my brain to long but I never find myself wishing to explore more NE has a gigantic tree where dilos and Dennis normally fight under its high enough it can reach breaking your leg and killing you from the top so I usually find myself there rather hunting or nesting more recently east plains where I never hung out after I reached 20% because I found ne more appealing but it’s quite easy to kill things there I even killed an adult dilo because it was hungry enough to keep coming back for food and I am a deino main so sitting until my hunger drains in a tree is no challenge so all the complaints people have about herrara pretty much don’t apply to me so I would say that herrara is the best thing other that deino that’s a lot from me considering I have played deino since it was in stress test and have mained it since unfortunate you cannot find as much dopamine as I do with bellyflopping people in the same place for hours like I do
Also the fact you also say bellyflopping just makes me so happy lol
Yeah, different strokes for different folks! I love to explore and travel, so ambush predators aren't really for me. But that's okay, I still had fun being a pest for a few days!
I actually think that the little cera you killed in the beginning of the video was me 😆
Could have been xD if so, thanks for saving my bacon! I was a little bit hungry haha
@@dinometta lol anytime
As Herrera I spend a lot of it at this huge lake. Lasted days (irl) surviving there (off purely deer... My night vision was terrible even with 3 lines diets)- then I got sick of it and got reckless and died to a stego bc I had no stam
Cool!
9:39 stubborn person she calls herself, she clearly hasn’t seen the peak of my stubbornness!!
Haven't I????
*YEET LIZARD!* I love it lol 😂
Well that explains a lot. I do a lot of herra killing in east plains as dilo when I'm around there.
Yup, there's usually 10+ in those trees at any one time
Nice making it to adult!
My Herrera unfortunately was put down by a pair of 80% pachies at 50% growth (me) because I was scavenging of a corpse within their vicinity
Fun times
I had a few encounters with pachys. One sat under my tree while I was out of stam and close to starvation for ages. I went red right as he got distracted by another herra, and escaped while the other sacrificed himself unknowingly for me.
I had pity for pachys last update. I don't anymore.
@@dinometta I was also beipi today and I think I was in your escape from east plains pond . A whole herd of a teno, a young pachy, two adult stegos and a juvie stego were by that pond. I think that Herrera might have a chance at that pond (especially if bepis like me go there for there migration zones) but as of now anything smaller than Herrera (aka THE THINGS IT HUNTS) are basically extinct or so rare that it’s like seeing or hearing Bigfoot (once heard a dryo on petis peids)
@@ThemagpieBird734 yeah I think I just got incredibly unlucky. I'm still pretty dang sure it's a good spot for herra. It just wasn't my day!
Yeah, it's an alright spot for regaining stam. I just feel silly having to all be in one spot. Or unable to get back there at all if out of stam entirely
@@dinometta on the edge of the lake there are a couple of trees you can rest in as herrera to regain stam. not the palm trees but there are a couple of trees with branches you can rest on even though it looks like you are sitting on a twig.

Yeet lizard lol
How are you sleeping without logging out?
In the trees? If you sit on a thin enough branch, you'll sit in that pose
In fact, one of the tenos I was trying to hunt literally ignored me in favor of killing a nearby boar to try and "prove" I didn't need to hunt him(too bad boar doesn't have s diet for dilo, I needed the teno's heart, not simple food, so the hint continued until he fled to hide behind 6 stegos and 3 other tenos)
Regardless, starvation isn't the problem anymore.
"yeet lizard" is quite the name. though i prefer "tree rat" myself
Also quite an acceptable name
I was expecting a British guy I'm ok with this though
Tbh your experience seems like a ton of fun…dont know what the Problem was 🤷🏻♂️
The biggest thing is the fact that leaving the hotspots as Herrera is pretty well a death sentence.
Yeah, the bugs lately have been really problematic. I'd like to see them all addressed. Honestly the hotspots are my biggest issue right now. I can't stand this new ai spawning doing the exact opposite of encouraging exploration
@@dinometta Yeah and the want to encourage moving about...but it´s just not working with the current system. It makes no sense. At this point they are just fumbling the bag hard. I love the game and have it since 2018 or so. I had over 1k hours on my previous steam account that I somehow lost access to. I would have way more hours if I could but the audio bug is literally game breaking and even endangers people. Whenever I try to play for longer than 10-20 minutes I get a migraine because of it
This pathetic patch. Such a pity. But great narration as always.
Yeah this patch has been .... Special
muito bom+ 1 escrito tbm faço videos do the isle
AI shouldnt be spawning where people are in my opinion, they should be spawning elsewhere, like why have easy accessible food when there are a lot of players in the area, migration is so broken, it hardly moves and only does a small circle in the same exact area, i can grow three carnos in the same spot without the migration moving.
Yeah, I heavily agree. It's so frustrating right now
Survival Tip: AI spawns near hungry players so carnivores dont starve
Jesus, how far this game has fallen
what? How?
I say its improved, duh theres gonna be problems lol but I dont think its THAT much worse, if ai and pounce could be fixed + maybe stam changes it would be better, tbh Im just tired of people being so negative, sure its got problems but so does every game and again its not THAT bad, being negative is only gonna make it worse if anything.
@@dtbrex08 I get where your coming from and i have seen that the game has been slowly fixing its issues, but so many of the fundamental mechanics that the game has employed makes it so whenever i'm not suffering in the game, i'm just bored and uninterested.
