Meet Nonabah Sam, curator for Dine' College's Ned Hatathli Museum in Tsaile, Arizona. She's in a unique position to curate historical pieces and tell the story of the Dine' from an indigenous perspective. Nothing is lost in translation in this purposefully designed space where the room itself is grounded in Dine' traditions. The permanent collection contains an uncensored, unflinching look at the Long Walk, but the pieces also connect the past to the present in a way that leaves visitors filled with hope and pride. There's nothing past tense at the museum--it's all part of an ongoing grand scheme, and the language, the traditions, the people--they're here and thriving.
