Morning girls. Another superb lesson in how to detect👍 Great potential for this field, as the old saying goes... low and slow; some of those Roman's can be deep and tricksy. Tip for your crusty silver. You'll need real lemon juice and 2 iron nails. Sit the coin between the nails and immerse in the juice. Check every 15mins to half an hour to see if you can pick any of the crust off with a toothpick. Once done, submerge in diluted bicarbonate of soda to neutralise. Then rinse and lightly rub in vaseline to remove any deposits. Be amazed. Works on even the most crusty coins with no ill effects👍

So much interesting history in that field. Some lovely finds in short order as well. Too bad the rain moved in, but it is definitely a site worthy of more exploration. Looking forward to future videos. Thanks, ladies!

I had this really funny moment with the hairpin when I was filming it all cleaned up for the RUclips video. My hair kept getting in my face and this little object I’m trying to film would have solved my problems in Roman times 😂 Made it feel very relatable!!
So glad the good weather has arrived!!! 🙌

      I have exiting news!!!
I just secured my very first field permission!!
Stone adze heads were found by the landowner.
One field,I have to wait until autumn, after the crop is harvested, but in late June,I’m hitting another field,it is in plowed for many years, but it’s the field where the adzes and a 19th century axe was found.
The field for June is,I’m told, very rocky.
This is not ideal I suspect.
      Am I correct?

Well done always get inspired by your detecting prowess and knowledge keep up the good work. Are you both based in Lincolnshire. I moved up to the Lincolnshire wolds 3 years ago and the kind farmer allowed me to detect in his land which is only 50yards from my back garden. I took up detecting 2 years ago and found my first roman siliqua. Since then I have found another 16 in a similar area plus my detecting friend has found a silver denarius of Vespasian not related to my hoard site though. She’s had Bronze Age axe molds 4 Bronze Age axes and both have had Bronze Age spear tip fragments. But there’s no pottery from both eras and no building debris, so not sure on the Bronze Age objects could of been a smithy nearby and I’m guessing my hoard of silver was buried in times of conflict plus there are loads of tiny nails nearby quite iron infested. So could have been buried in a wooden box who knows and the denarius a random drop. But it does show a good few thousand years interesting activity in the area. Anyway life story over and happy hunting.

I just love when you explain what that coin would've bought back in the day. You girls have so much potential in RUclips. I wish you 100 fold subscribers for every bullet you find. 😁 I have a field which produces nice celtic/saxon and roman coins, but it's like a minefield with bullets. Last time I counted 52 bullets, 16 musket balls. Either it was training ground, or there was some crazy battle there Good luck! 🍀

@@RomanFound Thankyou for replying. I'm a history teacher, based in Stroud, Gloucestershire and have been detecting for just a year, started last May. If you are in the area, would appreciate the opportunity to meet you both. I've found a Constantine Follis last week on a new permission near a place called Cockadilly (I kid you not!!). Haven't seen you lassies in ages and was wondering where you'd got to. RUclips keeps proffering up other detectorists but I'm too curmudgeonly to be making wanton changes at my age. I like to stick with what I know.
I dont mean to flatter you: I still eat the same tomato sauce, use the same toothpaste and wear the same brand/model of sneakers that my mother bought me when I was a child.

Love your detecting videos, the little snippets of information are most enlightening and I learn a little something new each time, like I didn't know about the Vine Street site in London until you two showed it.
I enjoy history and whilst I take in the serious side a lot, I do like to make a bit of fun out of it, especially the rather stoic documentary type programmes fronted by stuffy academics.
So I came up with Professor Crusty Trenches, '..a bloke who knows things!".
Don't know if I'm onto a winner yet but here is a taster of what he's been up to so far, and there is a fair bit of Roman content, some of which you might just recognise too..

    • @RomanFound

We’ve had lots of flooding, so cultivating was really late this year. Likely going to be food shortages because of how badly we’ve been effected here in Lincolnshire.
