    Buddy Ebsen was an American actor, dancer, and singer who rose to fame during the Golden Age of Hollywood. He was born on April 2, 1908, in Belleville, Illinois, and began his career as a dancer in the 1920s, performing in vaudeville and Broadway productions. Ebsen is best known for his roles as Jed Clampett in the TV series "The Beverly Hillbillies" and as Barnaby Jones in the detective series "Barnaby Jones." He appeared in numerous films and TV shows throughout his career, earning critical acclaim and a loyal fan base. Ebsen passed away on July 6, 2003, at the age of 95.

    Thanks! I loved learning more about Buddy Ebsen. My whole family was glued to the tv whenever The Beverly Hillbillies was on. I do remember mom telling us that he was a good dancer. ☺️

    He had a cool, southern accent. Was raised mostly in Florida, and was born in southern Illinois near St Louis on the other side of the Mississippi. . That must be it. Probably rural roots.
