  • This maybe the podcast I’ve done most research for in the history of the Creative Introvert, and not just book research. The daimon and creativity, or how the daimon relates to creativity is a topic that’s been brewing somewhere in my mind, whether it’s consciously or otherwise, and I finally have my ideas in a place where I’m ready to share and fairly confident in my ability to give you something that’s genuinely useful, especially if you’re interested in tapping into your source of greatest creative potential, getting into that flow state, and living from a place that feels true for you.

I so appreciate your noting the distinction between Daimon and Guardian Angel and the historical depths snd breadth you plumb and which I hadn't actually critically much thought about or considered overtly especially recently in my ongoing personal quest! Here I'm thinking I've gotten all esoteric myself (far from it) just because I'm reading an esoteric badass practitioner author! And I just love the juxtaposition of lighthearted aesthetics for the channel that is not AT ALL the narrow "angels are all love and light" lovey-dovey milieu one might see! I appreciate more and more the various perspectives and sources and personal experiences shared! Glad to have discovered your channel and subscribed diving into the Playlist topics. And what got me to sub was the link to find the name of one's daimon, which involved some actual homework on my part. Real deal! 🌌 🌟 🌞 plus I love the artwork and hope to soon avail of your book which would be so invaluable to keep quest light, joyful and rigorous.

When people ask me if I meditate, I explain that drawing and painting is my meditation. I have always experienced artmaking as channeling since early childhood. It is kind of “communion” with self, which also feels like an emptiness of transcendence. I have no memory of how I made the image or how it came to be, only the memory of the sensation and feeling.
    Thanks for this lovely video.
I read all those Pullman books, Jung, etc. The daimon concept has been emerging in various ways in my life lately, I calculated from c. Brennan’s master of the Nativity video and lots of spirit and fortune to find Porphory’s version. Pretty fascinating. 🖤

Just started attempting to contact my Daimon using a Steiner meditation technique . He says the Daimon is actually a future spiritual us , a fragmentation of the godhead and it's best to do the meditations in the morning before our soul gets too polluted from the days activities . Had some interesting initial experiences of as if I'm flying up and up and another were I find myself animalistically snorting or growling or maybe I was dropping off to sleep and snoring lol . Also certainly felt a lot more energized during the day after these first few sessions ...

That's super interesting! I'd like to try that myself. If you can share any links to books/resources where I can find that technique, I'd really appreciate it!

Hello from Finland! I found your podcast today, (thanks to Acyuta and Nightlightastrology) and I’m amazed how everything about this podcast is so for me! I’m an introvert artist, who loves to read yogi tea quotes and is trying to find the lost flow in painting. While listening to this I actually got some colors on the canvas. And on my table I have James Hillmans Soul’s code! I’m reading it slowly because of the language but it’s such Synchronicity 🙏🏻... I’m waiting anxiously about your release about Fifth house Taurus ❤️

I love this topic, as James Hillman’s The Soul’s Code is my all-time favorite non-fiction book. I’d love to read astrologer Dorian Greenbaum’s book about daimons, but it is out of print and used copies are $200+. 😩
Eastern Orthodox Christians (Greek, Russian, etc) also believe everyone has a guardian angel. I am not sure about Protestants but I suspect the more traditional types are open to that concept.

I found Greenbaum's book here: www.scribd.com/document/356831026/AMD-011-Greenbaum-The-Daimon-in-Hellenistic-Astrology-Origins-and-Influence-2015 (I think the university publishes all it's dissertations for free.)
And that's so interesting re: the Orthodox Christians sharing the same view! Wonder why it was ever dropped...

I read his Dark Materials Trilogy as a kid. I guess about 12 and I was not into meta physics and just enjoyed the adventure and exploring other worlds part. But reading it now. Being interested in the idea of consciousness and spirituality. Its so deep and interesting. And the new trilogy Philip Pullman is making. I am still reading the second book. When I read your video title, I thought it might be to do with him and I was right. And listening to the start of the video I was thinking about the Self with a capital S and later you talked about that as well :)
I thought the video was very interesting. It brought a lot of old concepts and integrated them and added new concepts as well. The ideas which came out of the mask and anti self and becoming someone totally different and then pursuing your calling felt a lot like the hero's journey by joseph campbell. I am an INFP and Enneagram 4 wing 5+6 so I have intense feelings but pursue truth and knowledge and the right community of like-minded individuals. So for me the idea of embracing your calling and listening to your intuition with my co pilot extroverted intuition feels perfect. I also am using writing to figure out my calling and identify with my higher self. This was inspired by psychedelics. I actually had a really good truffles trip about 2 years ago where I had a conversation with a 'daemon' but at the time it was in a human form representing an older me who was more wise. And at first I did not know what question to ask him and it was funny hearing you saying not to develop your friendship for the sake of asking questions haha :)
He told me that there was a higher form of love than romantic love which is only temporary and selfish which is universal love. Of course he did not say it is selfish because selfish does not feel like a holy word. But maybe it would be less fulfilling. And much later on learning about what unconditional love really means - and about lower forms of selfish love. And love being connected to the universe. Really connected with that internal truffles trip I had. The knowledge was inside me all along. Even before I read about it. On the truffles trip my daemon told me to meditate to become connected to the universe. And meditating while on a truffles trip. I became connected with what felt like infinite non-dualness. And it was fucking epic xD
And I haven't done changes to my book in about a year but I want to go back because I have become more mature. I want to become more mature in that I can describe my feelings but not be caught up in them so that I can embrace them, feel them but still move in a better direction. Than having a victim mentality. Hearing about the different ways to interact with your Daemon and its Greek origins was very interesting. And I fully agree about not being able to interact with it through logical rational scientific conversation. I think that shadow work also helps to better access your unconscious and converse with your daemon.
I have only reasoned about it through thinking and not like asked my daemon what form are you or something. But I think it would be a wolf. A dog is trusting of everyone and has lots of positive vibrational energy. But a wolf is still related to a dog kind of lol. And I picture myself as like a lone wolf not fitting in with most of society but trying to be kind and strong to protect what is important to me. Being too nice in the past that I hurt myself and the people around me. And now wanting to be nice but not too nice to hurt people. Developing more wisdom and surviving and growing and moving forward. :) Thank you for your video. It was very interesting

Thanks so much for your thoughtful comment! Oh and wow, I love the message from your daimon, about love. This is something I'm being illuminated about right now (and not always in the most pleasant of ways!) but it feels like there's something deeply true and fulfilling waiting at the bottom of it. Seems to be common to daimon wisdom ;) Thanks again for watching!

@@CatRose your welcome. I think love is the most amazing thing in the world because it can bring you fulfillment and what more do you need for your soul than that? Even if your body has additional needs like food and water and shelter lol. I would love to see a video by you maybe in the future about your take on what your daemon told you about love :) And yes love is not always pleasant xD even if we wish it was.

I literally have different entities (animals, aliens) manifest in my art which is surreal/abstract 3d design and it literally blows my mind because its never intentional. (Its not like im painting/drawing them in consciously.)

I believe my Daimon warned me about a potential accident in the 1970s when I listened to him. I believe he warned me, again, when I did not heed his advice, and fell and broke my arm.

Nobody has daimons, there's no such thing. And Socrates definitely didn't have a daimon, again for lack of daimons being a real thing. But I did click onto this video so I could at least know what the heck it was or purports to be, and I figured it was something like this, and so it is. The only interesting thing about daimons is how these figments of the imagination become something that people pretend to take seriously. Or indeed actually take seriously. It appears Jung tried to convert the idea into some sort of pseudo-pyschological driving force within us that makes us slave over great works of art or train hard for the Olympics. it's funny how this chick compared the tedious work of nurturing friendships to the daimon, and how you have to nurture your daimon as well. Because life's perpetual socializing, and the unrelenting strain it can put on the psyche, with bosses and colleagues at work, with friends you don't really even relate to or particularly trust, husbands or wives you don't love, can numb and grind the mind down so severely that maybe an obvious fiction like the so-called daimon can almost seem real, and like a useful notion, as you try to hold on to what little left you have of your own inclinations.
Anyway, now I know what a 'daimon' is. I think....
