Great to see Hellenistic astrology coming back. As a Gemini, I usually end up with 2 contenders, Saturn exalted in 10th Libra also ruling Capricorn asc, and Aquarius Fortune. Then Venus in Taurus 5th House of good fortune with the Moon. They work together quite well.
Using whole sign houses, my Moon in Cancer is in the 10th house. Using quadrant houses, my Moon is in the 9th house within 5 degrees of the MC. My Lot of Daimon is almost 5 degrees Gemini, so its antiscion would be just after 25 degrees Cancer, and my Moon is within 3 degrees of my Lot of Daimon's antiscion. My Jupiter in Sagittarius would be disqualified by being in the cadent 3rd house using whole sign houses, and the succedent 2nd house using quadrant house systems, not to mention it being in a state of combustion with my Sun by conjunction separated by 4 degrees. The only traditional planet that's eastern/oriental to my Sun is Moon.
I don't know if this would help anyone, but I've been using this free astrology software for a long time that calculates both the Kurios and the Oikodespotes automatically. Planetdance is not particularly intuitive to use but it has so many features, the latter two calculations coming from their edited Greek horoscope setting. Mine happen to be the same, Jupiter, must have a similar chart to your spreadsheet example😅 I also wonder about the short shrift on domiciled or exalted planets (there's that exalted succedent Mercury again lol) but I like your idea about blending. Although, I don't know if the world really needs a trickster Jupiter, pretty sure He'd get super canceled😆
Thank you for the tip! I have Planet Dance downloaded but I didn't look around too much so I didn't know it had such detailed features. It gives both the Oikodespotes of Soul and Oikodespotes of Chart (Ruler), and I don't know the difference (it says I have Venus for the former and Jupiter for the latter). Do you know which one Cat is talking about? Or is it both?
Really helpful! I haven't heard of that piece of kit before but I'll be checking it out myself! and lol I'm now imagining what kind of youtube channels all the planets would have...!
Thank you for this @Honolulu wampum I’m looking at my Ed Greek horoscope and there is a natal placement I cannot figure out what the symbol is! Can you help? It looks like a boomerang in the vertical listing of natal placements on the left, below as, mc and spirit. I’ve looked through all the help files and can’t figure it out! Thanks in advance ;)
@@Caritaylorastro Sorry for the delay, I think the boomerang is the syzygy, more commonly known as the full or new moon that most closely preceeded birth. According to the internets, the planet that had the greatest dignity in this degree was an important consideration in a number of techniques such as the Animodar method of rectification. Whatever that means😆
@@shadowsetlover I think the Oikodespotes of the chart is the ruler to whom Cat was referring, but I could be wrong about that, and also the grammar of this sentence 😂
Hi Cat, I first saw you on Nightlight astrology, and looked you up. So, as a new subscriber I've been binge watching and love your content🙂 From what I understand the lot of Daimon is diffrerent from our personal daimon/ lord of nativity, right? My strongest planet must be saturn, in capricorn, connected to moon, venus, jupiter, mercury and sun, all weak. I did some automatic writing years ago and following Esther Hicks did a lot of meditation last year...really cool results. The writing came through in old English and in poetic language and the meditations, the same, but really funny, a real trickster. I doubt that was Saturn's voice, although my lot of spirit is in Virgo... I thought I'd share these really interesting experiences, although at the time I wasn't trying to connect with my daimon, I somtimes wonder what or who this guiding voice is
Glad you found me Elena! And yes - the Lot of Daimon IS different from the Lord of the Nativity. I had a similar experience (big Hicks fan!) and I realise now this was likely leading me to get interested in the concept of the daimon, and really feel that whatever came through for me was my daimon - I just didn't use that name for it. I'm sure others will have different names for it too, but daimon works for me!
@@CatRose Thanks for explaining that bit about the lot and the actual Daimon. It's nice to know you've had similar experiences and you're right, it doesn't matter what name we give it, its' still a very profound experience. ( one that I personally can't share with friends or family...) it seems I'm the odd one out. It makes so much sense what you say about community. I'll be following your channel 😋
To me Moon in Cancer 12th house has the most dignity in terms of points. Then Saturn - ruler of Sygyzy and part of fortune in 7th house Aquarius. But Saturn is also my master of nativity it seems
It depends who you ask! I don't see the daimon as part of my self, but I DO see the higher self as part of my self... But others would totally see them as interchangeable.
Thank you so much for this! My two contenders are mars and Jupiter and they also square each other exactly, lol. Mars is in my 12th and Jupiter 3rd. Jupiter rules my 10th and is also asc ruler (Pisces rising.) Mars in 12th can “see” Venus and Jupiter, but Jupiter can’t see Venus. Tricky one!! The only one I’m not sure of is the helical rising part cause I have solar fire but not exactly sure how to find that out? Do you mean the planet goes 15° away from the sun within 7 days of birth? Or IS 15° away from the sun AT birth? Thank you!
To spot a planet making a heliacal rise/set, look at the chart up to 7 days before or after birth (I didn't emphasise that 'after' part enough). If it has gone over the 'barrier' of 15 degrees away from the Sun within that 2 week timeframe, then it's made the rise/set. If it's not within that time frame, don't give it a point.
I remember reading I think Lilly's guide for this technique and he took away points for retrograde motion- do you consider that in your calculation? Secondly if one of the candidates is the sun what do you put for Eastern? Never do I feel more unfortunate about my chart than when trying to figure out this technique. I gave up last time after my planet brawl didn't seem resolvable lol.
I haven't studied Lilly's take on this, though that does sound like an interesting rabbit hole for me! And I Porphyry doesn't address what to do about the Sun (same problem happens when considering visibility) so I think it's up to us to decide and play with the results :/ Not the answer I want to give but it is what it is!
I'd definitely consider that conjunction when you're interpreting that Mercury. I didn't go on to explain this, but the next stage would be evaluating the 'power' (or nature) of that Lord.
I have the Sun in the tenth (angular) house in Leo. That was fun!

Ooh I would love those placements! I imagine they make for quite the creative and driven daimon :)

Mine is definitely my Mercury in Gemini, but it is in a 0° conjunction with Ketu. Not sure if that changes things or just complicates things.
