I miss Kmarts. I remember when this one was first opened. One of my friends and I went to the massive clearance sales at the nasty one further down Rt. 8. So it was so nice when the new one opened.
I can safely say that Kmart location could be used again. It is still in pristine condition and very little amounts of work would be needed. But I wouldn't wait too long because, if it sits abandoned for too long, it will start looking like the Bradlees and Aims. Buildings don't age well when sitting empty and abandoned. But this location has a lot of life left in it.
I remember when my brothers went to their kung fu practices in Franklin. While we waited for them me and my mom would always stop at this kmart to shop and look for any deals and then to the nearest Sheetz for snacks. I remember this place like it was yesterday
Hey if your still there. go further est and you see a Abandoned Long John Silvers and a KFC which IMO is the only one i know is still like "All There" not even stripped from signage or window shades outside.
@@WallieB26 Sweet! i was finally able to make a prediction that came true. :) i'm still confused to why they are gone. looked like a proper location to me. or maybe financial problems with the places.
I shopped at KMart in the 1970s, as the Weirton,WV KMart opened for business in 1974. That was back when KMart had the cafeteria in the store. The aesthetics have changed over the years. Have a KMartlicious Day! Stay awesome!
How far from the nearest Walmart is this store? And what about the nearest Target? While I do love Big Lots, I would be sad if that now is the only discount department store (if we can even call it that) for this town. Interestingly the Kmart opened less than a year before the Jamesway chain went out of business (but perhaps the Jamesway in Franklin closed before the chain came to a final end, because there were MANY Jamesway stores which closed between 1991 and 1994 as well) I suppose the proximity of an existing Walmart or Kmart stopped AMES from acquiring more former Jamesway stores. There were only a small handful of Jamesway-to-Ames conversions even though almost all the Jamesway sites would have seemed perfect for Ames, except perhaps those Jamesway stores where Ames was already nearby and had no reason to move.
My Childhood Kmart was white with a big gray awning thing, I've seen a few other k marts like it, mine opened around 1989, so I'm guessing it's what Kmarts looked like in the 1980s lol
Hey wallie I am glad you did this one I used to work for the company that cleaned these retail stores along with sears I was empolyed with them from 2010 to 2015 I cleaned the Pittsburgh stores shalar west view new Kensington McKnight road butler leechburg I also have a camp near tionesta we used to stop here and get bait and other things when we would go up there I was a site supervisor and a Project Helper it was a good job I also used to go to the trader horn when they where around. Mostly butler and mcknight road
You need to go to the Clarion K-mart (closed) and mall. It’s a dying mall and it’s very small. Only thing keeping it running is a JC Penny’s (for now) and a movie theater.
8:31 I'll tell you the exact logic, because I figured it out when they sold the lease on Norridge, Illinois one (that was another top performer in the company). They do it, because they sell the lease/land. Doesn't matter if the store is the top performing store in the chain, if Fast Eddie can get money from selling its lease/land, he'll do it in a heartbeat. You know Guam's store? That was company owned, and now the division of the company that owns the land just "bought" it from Guam (just transferred ownership to their real estate division), putting them under a lease now, meaning if ANYONE offers him money for that lease or the land- BOOM, Guam's WILL close! That's easily the highest store in the chain, but all Fast Eddie cares about is making money from its land, he doesn't care about the company, that's abundantly clear the way he's running it.
Steel Cage match between you and Fast Eddie. You'd win in a match that Lasts nine seconds. You'd growl at Eddie and he'll cry like a baby. It's sad to see so many closed retailers and restaurants. As Bradley set it was busy so why close a good profitable store. He didn't care. He just wants the $$$$$$. #fastEddieforjail Awesome photos Bradley. It's important to document these places in any form because the world is not just stupid WalMart. Glad I have time time to catch up on all these awesome videos. Also subscribed to Bradley. Big fan of Dragons especially Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon.
It was built before the late-90's, because it has both the Antonini curve, and former red lines from the early-90's, before they became Big Kmart in the late-90's.
i totally get how you like those little white diamonds i am the same way with any of the stores or restaurants that have the green house glass look to them
Good evening Wallie! Enjoyed this video, sad to see another k Mart closed! You guys did a very thorough job here! I don’t like knowing that more jobs are gone! Good luck to this area! Good night 🌙!
Or Eddie just spins a magical wheel for each state before he does that he has 50 darts he throws them for each state on a dart board what ever number the dart land on that is the amount of stores he closes in a state
I used to go to Kmart. That was a good store. Now it’s closed. And there’s not too many good stores in this area to go to. They can use heroes for closing my store. Not. Thank you for the video😞😔
Yeah and they have to close down Mattydale New York taking away Jobs from people in my local area and potential high school kids that would’ve had a job and they had to close Liverpool New York and make it a stupid U-Haul company. Come on there already was a U-Haul up the street from Liverpool you don’t need another U-Haul who cares about a Climate controlled storage bin that’s just a waste you could’ve left big lots move in there and had a bigger big lots. Or you could’ve let Occ college move in there and make classrooms out of it for the Liverpool branch. I seriously hate Eddie Lampert for what he did taking away both my Kmart well good by Kmart we miss you and will forever miss you
Lived around the corner from this store. I loved walking across the street to shop and also Radio Shack at the other end of this building.

My Childhood Kmart was white with a big gray awning thing, I've seen a few other k marts like it, mine opened around 1989, so I'm guessing it's what Kmarts looked like in the 1980s lol

There is an old school Giant Eagle in McDonald PA
Giant Eagle stuck out very well wow nice.
You need to go to the Clarion K-mart (closed) and mall. It’s a dying mall and it’s very small. Only thing keeping it running is a JC Penny’s (for now) and a movie theater.
You wont believe this but I have a dead mall video from there I'm putting up Friday. LOL

Guys, there was a news report recently stating that Rural King is going to be going in here by the Fall this year.

It was built before the late-90's, because it has both the Antonini curve, and former red lines from the early-90's, before they became Big Kmart in the late-90's.
That was one of my favorite Kmart stores...along with the ones in Hermitage and Butler! ☹️
