I’m from New Mexico, USA; been driving a 1968 Series IIA 88 since 1987; I live in the southern end of the Sangre de Cristo Range of the southern Rocky Mountains and our 88 had taken us to 11,000 foot mountain tops, pulled a 13 foot travel trailer ( caravan to you mate) for years on a once a year 100 mile pilgrimage with my youngest son, then 5 through 10 years old! Your videos bring back those simple, four speed noisy transmission noises and smell of motor oil and gear lube memoirs that will live in my heart till I drive off into the sunset in my Series Landrover ! Thank you for the memories, my friends!
Greetings from a Christchurch lad now living in Melbourne Australia, many thank for taking me on the two drive, in one of my dream vehicles, I would like to own one of these some day. Take care and keep safe.
wow this looks so much like home in wild, wet, windy, and wonderful Western Patagonia... where we also used to go around in a Series II... same forests, same trees, same plants, same rain, same kind of road, I only miss the volcanoes... NZ is truly our "other self"! this short episode brought back many memories, I would love to own a Series I or II again: quite unreliable, uncomfortable, with horrible brakes and electric system, but very simple, sturdy and capable as a 4x4 should be! and besides a true classic which has so much charm and pedigree... not like the junk Land Rover builds nowadays! They lost their mind and betrayed us completely with the concept (nobody said form could not change) of the new Defender, bringing to life an overpriced SUV with ridiculous 4x4 features and the same unreliability we knew for ages... Today I would not doubt a second and get me a Toyota 70-Series!!!! greetings from Chile
The best part is...these are mostly stock, normal 4x4s. The type of cars most 4WD owners have. And you are doing great things with them, instead of going all Genghis Khan with mods.
I love this comment! People need to understand that these old stock landys can go almost anywhere a modified vehicle can go (please note the word "almost" 😂)
Top stuff, thanks for showing us around your space. I’ve done a lot of miles in the Victorian High Country in an old Series3, and am just itching to do some more in my 2a from this coming spring. Your clips are just the right motivation to get the brakes fixed, and the canvas on.
Great camera work, especially while driving those tracks at the same time. I was looking for inspiration to go weld up the footwell of my '62 SWB but ended up spending the morning in front of the computer watching all of your videos 🤣. Love the scenery, always jealous of anyone living in the South Island.
Hey Mate, I just found your channel in level 4 , I love Landies and what an awesome vid, Cant wait to get one, The Blue Landie with white wheels is like my dream car! Spent a brief time in Reefton and west coast earlier this year, will def be back to explore
Mate how do you not have nearly as many views as you should. But loving it im hoping to get my own land rover but my dad has a series 2A in Canada with an original frame
Wouldn't it be uncommon to get rainy things in Reefton? Funnily enough I lived in and near Reefton but still have not made it to Big River. I have been to the Nurses home, after it was closed.
@@hayden_jones just noticed it .we going up the harper this summer we been up to basin hut we towed a jeep out of there he was from ChCh have you gone in the clarence we keen as this summer cheers

Sorry about some of the poor audio, it was so wet at times, I couldn't use my external microphone.

You're very welcome Frank. Thanks for sharing your experiences with me.
Those who have never owned one are truly missing out.
Wow super cool I want to import one:)
Land Rovers doing what they were built for. Excellent!
One of the best trips I've been on. We will definitely be going back.
Its a good track big river road ive only done it in dry weather but i would say that would be fun to do in wetter weather
Amazing camera work and I salute the 4 legends for representing. They have not disappointed!
Thanks so much 🙏🏼
We love what we do.

So cool, I want to drive my old landy so bad
Do you still have it, and it's in need of some repairs? Or did you sell it?
Be sure to check out some of my more recent videos 👍🏼

Always nice to see these sort of trucks in their natural habitat. Can't wait to get my 71' s2a 109 in the road.
😁
Great video. Greetings from England where I wish we had tracks as good!
Thanks mate. Maybe you'll have to come over this way and check them out (once covid is all sorted)
It got serious when you guys decided to turn back. Seemed to me the river crossing had more water flow on the way back. Love The Stig in the hood !
That looks like an awesome wet weekend of 4WDing, go the Landys!!
Thanks Nicky.
Unreal how wet it got.
This is probably your best video.
GOOD TO SEE A GROUP OF PURISTS TOGETHER! ! !
Awesome video, looking forward to part 2
Awesome trip...the trail was scenic and fit in for the landies.. 👍
Crikey that looks like a hell of a drive down undah! I totally want to go to Australia what a cool looking place

Looks epic! I'd love to have a cruise around some of those old gold workings.
Yeah we're definitely going back one day when it's not so wet. We didn't get to see much.
Awesome work. Looks like a good time despite the rain.
Great video!

Thanks so much. 🙂
This is such an inspiration! I'm building a hybrid series one for going on adventures. ✌ Thank you for a very good video.
Thanks so much. Hope the hybrid build goes well. 👍
@@hayden_jones Thank you! 👌
Keep it up, love your videos!
Thanks Bradley.
Good stuff Jonesy
Thanks Mate
I wonder if there could be a re-factory hybrid (gasoline+electric) series landy in the future. I own a 1990 NA Diesel 110 defender btw.
That’s real offloading 😂

Why do people do this on road tyres??? one of them was on racing slicks?
🤣🤣🤣 not me mate.
I liked them more before they were trendy and people didn’t want moonbeams for them.
sheesh
