Very nice work and series, Ive almost finished rebuilding mine that is fitted in a Land Rover! they were fitted into early Classic Range rovers. Had the same issue with the clutch bands being terrible quality, mine were sourced in the UK, junked them, the issue was the band being bonded over rivets that were not flush, creating high spots. Had a stroke of luck buying a second transmission for ten pounds that had been removed from an early Range Rover. That one had two good condition four pinion planet carriers and other up dates to stop converter leak back. The original had three pinion planet carriers. Sourced new pump gear set and had the TC rebuilt as it had been trashed. With the clutch settings Ive had to use two thiner steel plates to set up, the snap ring would have been ridiculously thin to get the correct clearance, so its a good option using varying thickness plates.
You obviously have more experience with mopar transmissions than I do. Problem; I rebuilt my transmission, along the same lines as you did an A 727 that sits behind a 400 big block in a 71 plymouth duster. I have NO passing or kickdown gear. I can hand shift and 1st through 3rd are there with no slippage. I adjusted the throttle with the kickdown lever so when carb is wide open trans lever is fully depressed back. NO passing gear or kickdown. Also trans shifts through gears really fast, shifts from first to third by 35 mph. I have pulled the tail shaft and checked and cleaned the govenor, also dropped the transmission pan and pulled the valve body taking it completely apart noting where the ball bearings go. Still the same... One questio, this valve body is out of a RV transmission, would that matter? HELP!!!
I have very similar symptoms with my ‘88 5th Ave w/ a 318 & 727, after I did a 4bbl carb swap and installed a Lokar kickdown cable I had these same shift issues/no kickdown downshift
The book says (for the Rear or low&Rev.band) 72 inch lbs. and back it off 2.5 turns. And same but only 2 turns for the 2nd/high band forward (outside band) where you getting your spec's. ?
This trans is modified..i changed the ratio of the lever...that`s why the adjustment is different...the spec`s are from B&M...It also takes Type F fluid...sorry for the misinformation pertaining to a stock unit
I just recently done the bands on my bbm 727 torquflite . I did the kickdown 1.5 turns and the rear 2.5 turns. This was to manufacturer specs. Hemi specs
My 727 on my matador started leaking bad out of nowhere oneday and didint notice till i got home. Now wont go into reverse and leaks alot once car stops running. Can you please help with any info so i wont get ripped off. I ratger fix her myself
I saw the AMC banner. What will this unit be going into? (Or, if I wanted to get a new transmission for my Hornet, what is specific to an AMC application? Just the bellhousing?)
FIRST: Your videos are amazing. Thanks for taking the time to film them. Second: How can anyone dislike this video? Lol. Seriously Where is the assembly video for this trans if there is one? Thanks
One of the best 727 trans. rebuild vid's on the tube.

Interesting, I didn’t know landrover used them too.
