Question - Would you be interested in joining a Make A Long called "Making Something New With Scraps And Minis"?
My answer -- I would really like to host this MAL and see how it goes. (Because I really like trying out new things in a small project/item, and I enjoy participating in Make A Longs!)
Hi Cathy, I love your shawl. I'm glad you added some sparkle to the bag ❤
Beautiful shawl. It looks so soft and comfy. I’d love to make that one day with some sparkle yarn.
I would never begrudge someone the joy of giving; however, I would watch you anyway. ❤
Thank you so much! I am very grateful and enjoy your comments so much.
Happy Anniversary Cathy. You add a little sparkle to my day.
Hi Mary. Thank you so very much. :-)
Wow more of that gorgeous orange! Yes please ❤️❤️❤️
I am happy that you like that yarn. It was the one that people voted on from last week.
Happy anniversary Cathy!! I love the sparkle in the Roll With It yarn but have never tried it. The mystery bags from Aberdeen's were really nice to see. They have such nice things to try. I have ordered from her before and was always very pleased. What a coincidence that you and Judy are just one day apart for your anniversary dates! Hope you have a great weekend filled with lots of knitting and crocheting 🎉🎉🎉. Almost forgot to mention that yes, a make along would be fun!!
Hi Judy. Thank you so much! It is amazing that Judy and I are a day apart in anniversaries. This is why I am trying to celebrate very late in September/early October, so that Judy's Day is as it should be, with no distractions. :-) Thank you so much for considering the MAL... hoping that it will be fun.
Hi Cathy. A MAL sounds like fun. Your shawl came out beautiful and your sweater is coming along beautifully as well, it will look perfect for the holidays. I'm looking forward to the coming holidays so I can add a little sparkle to my projects.
Hi Debbie. I'm looking forward to trying a MAL... Hopeful that the sweater will be "my size" (when I try it for size in a few days). If not, I am going to have quite a bit of frogging in my future... lol
All the yarn is beautiful but that sparkle yarn - holy cow! Very generous of you. I have a ton of WIPs right now but I can never resist a good MAL!
Hi Heather. I really enjoy MALs too! It will be fun (I hope it's fun for everyone... And I always look for reasons to try "a little something new".)
Multi color is beautiful but that green Ella Rae was dreamy.
You are right. I liked them both equally and really wouldn't have been able to choose. :-)
Happy anniversary, all the yarn is very beautiful, the sparkle yarn is also very stunning
Thank you so much! I enjoyed seeing the yarn from Aberdeen, and adding in a bit of sparkle is always fun. lol
I love a little sparkle! Happy Anniversary!🎉
Thank you so much, Alison! Have a great week!
I would love a small make along that I could learn something new without being overwhelmed!
I'm happy that you are considering this. It will be fun to try...
Congratulations on your anniversary! Who doesn't love a little sparkle. I like MALs.
Hi Rebecca. Thank you so much! I'm happy that you like MALs... They are fun and I hope (as it will be the first I do something like this) that it goes really well. I like MALs too!
I love raverly because of that function
Same here... (I wish that I hadn't left all my projects till the "last minute" to enter them in. Lesson learned... I was so busy, getting all the info in before delivering my donations to Casting Off The Cold.)
Sounds like you have had a very successful year. Keep up the good work Cathy.
Thank you so much, my friend. I really appreciate all your help and encouragement along the way. :-)
Sparkle,sparkle, sparkle😊😊😊😊
I laughed when I read your comment. Soo funny! lol
I'm so happy to see your channel growing. What a great gift for whoever is selected. Ya gotta love a good sparkle yarn. I'm making a poncho with a yarn that has a strand of stellina in it. It's gonna be pretty.
Thank you so much Dawna! When I was at Knit City, it was the first time that I saw yarn "in person" that has stellina. The yarn for your poncho must be such a joy to work with!
Congratulations on reaching your goals🎉
Thank you so much!!
Wow Cathy, you accomplished/created so much this past year - so many completed projects; good for you! Some gorgeous yarns in this podcast. All are interesting, even the sparkle, but I particularly love the orange ones. I have never participated in a MAL before and it does intrigue me.
Hi Carol. Thank you so much! Coral is one of my favorite colours... so I totally agree with you about the orange yarn. I have participated in MALs, however this will be my first time hosting one. That will be fun (I'm a bit uncertain about it, but looking at it as an adventure. Hoping it will all go well... And I have some friends who I can ask questions, so that will really help.)
Happy Anniversary Cathy, yes im in for a MAL ❤❤
Hi Alice. Thank you so much. (The first year went by so fast, and it as been so fun!) I'm happy to hear that you are in for a MAL. :-)
Ooooh you added sparkle 💖
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Hi Cathy Happy Friday my friend 😊❤😊 I would love to join your make along 😊 I have a whole bucket of scrap yarn waiting to be crocheted 🧶 😊 I love a little sparkle in a blanket. I love to throw it into the mix 😊
Hi Shannon. When I saw the sparkle yarn on sale (and it is machine wash & dry), I thought of CHEO, my friend. First I have bought one of a couple colours -- to make a couple of shawls, and see how it works up. If it stays soft, wouldn't it be cute in CHEO blankets? Thank you for joining in the MAL... hoping that it will be fun.
Congratulations on the cast on the cast on of the red sweater! I haven't worked with sparkler yarn, that would be interesting. A mal would be fun. Have an amazing week.
Thank you so very much! The sweater is hard to put down (once I got a start, I just wanted to keep at it). And hoping a MAL will be fun too... I hope you have an amazing week too. :-)
Hi Cathy. Wow! Loved hearing your one year wrap up totals. Fun and impressive. Yes, you sparkle 😂. Love your sweater, from what I can see it looks amazing. Great job! I’d like to try your MAL, I love them but often find I get sidelined with market makes but I will attempt it. I have stash, and something I haven’t done and was wanting to try so….maybe I can do it. It would fit in as a market make too! Have a great weekend! See you next week!
Hi Tami. I'm relieved that sharing the wrap up totals was ok. Wasn't sure about doing that... Thank you for considering the MAL (and I think fitting it in as a market make would be a great idea). Hope you have a great weekend!
Hello Cathy W I think that the color way of that yarn 🧶 called lake House and yes I can see the sparkle in it really well is just wonderful as it reminds me of a lake at night in the woods somewhere ❤🎉. Yes, I would love to learn something new to do with my yarn scrap as I have entire big bin full of yarn scraps
Hi Jennifer. Each person might learn something new and that will be fun to see. Like you, I have a bunch of scrap yarn. This will be exciting to try a MAL with.
Happy Friday that mug looks so warm! It's cold and wet here in Massachusetts
Almost always tea, and you are right that it is very comforting... (Here, we got a bit of surprisingly warm weather, and soon the cold will be coming. Time for me to get my sweaters ready!)
Hi Cathy! A MAL sounds wonderful. I would try to participate. I love how it adds a sparkle to your eyes talking sbout it. Great job on meeting your goals and Congratulations on 1 year on RUclips ❤
Hi Dimitra. Thank you so much! The encouragement on YT is what kept me "on my goal". For years, I didn't get there, and the support of everyone here really helped.... Happy that you are considering the MAL. I am looking forward to it!
You are making fast work of your sweater! Looks great. I’ve not worked with sparkle yarn, but I think I could make a cute hat 😊
The sweater is so fun... I couldn't put it down once I started. lol (Now I have to resist the sweater, so that I can crochet for my September MAL's. A bit behind on those.) You are 100% right about the sparkle hat.
I would like to try brioche again. I have a small project in mind for fall.
I like the way brioche looks. It is so pretty!
Would love to join your make along. It would be a first for me. Love the sparkle yarn.
Hi Elaine. Thank you so much! It will be the first MAL that I host (I've participated in quite a few). This will be exciting for both of us!
Love the sparkle yarn. Along with all the yarn you have shown over the last 5 weeks. I have always wanted to participate in a MAL, but have not yet, but would love to do one with you. Will have to check out your ravelry listing. Congrats on reaching your goals.
Thank you so much for popping over to my ravelry. So many years I tried to reach that goal and I think viewers on YT gave me encouragement to finally reach it. I'm happy that you are interested in the MAL (and I hope it goes well).
Hi Cathy. Congratulations🎉 on your upcoming anniversary, that’s so wonderful!! Your shawl came out just lovely, Fiber Spider has some very nice patterns. He actually has one with some sparkle yarn I was interested in making, when I get some. I’m kind of nervous it may be scratchy though. I will go and check out your Ravelry page. So glad you made your goals! 💜🧶🤟🏼
Hi Dianne. Thank you so much! I really enjoyed Fiber Spider's tutorial and will be checking out more from there. Great patterns! I'm grateful for all the support here on the channel -- it really is how I reached the goals. :-)
Hi Cathy! I look forward to your Friday videos! Your shawl is so pretty! I would love to join your make along. I am still playing catchup on some projects but I just love makealongs and the small project sounds just right! I've been enjoying learning new crochet stitches lately, so I can just keep learning along with your make along! That sparkle yarn is so pretty, but so is everything else going in that bag. Wow, such beautiful yarns! I just love the red color of the sweater you are knitting. So festive and cheerful! One of those garments I'd imagine just makes you smile to put on. Congrats on all the work done in your first 12 months! I'm going over to check out your Ravelry page. How fun!😊
Hi Christine. New stitches is a great idea... I am happy that you are considering joining the MAL. Usually I save red for the Holiday season (or Valentines day) however if the sweater fits me well, I might end up wearing it more often. lol The Ravelry projects -- oh dear! It was such a challenge to do all those months of projects in a few days. It was no fun.... even worse than the time I left all the weaving ends of my first granny square blanket until they were all joined. lol
@@YarnWithHeart I agree. entering all those details is no fun, however...can't even count the number of times that information has helped me after the fact. 😊👍
I hadn't thought of that, and it is so true. Thank you for that, Christine. (Until this year, I have been hit-and-miss with projects on Ravelry and had almost nothing there. So didn't realize projects would be so helpful in this way. Thank you for the insight.)
I am very impressed with your sweater knitting. The colour will look great on you! As for a MAL- I would like the option to do a pattern I have never done before, instead of a skill. But that's just me! 😊
Hi Diane. That is a great idea! Thank you! (adding new pattern to the list... so new skill, new tool, new pattern, new stitch... anything that can add a bit of new)!
Hey! I can see your comment!❤
@@soxynanaalice yes, I changed my channel name slightly and Hubs worked on updating my phone. Hope this continues ❤
Would be glad to do a KAL with you. I can't say when I'd get it finished as I've already committed myself to a blanket CAL, but since yours is to be a small one, I will try.
Hi Deb. Thank you so very much! And I hope you enjoy the blanket CAL, those are so much fun!
@@YarnWithHeart You're welcome and looking forward to your project plan. ☺️
I love that shawl. I use a wheelchair and would love to learn how to re write those patterns in a crescent shape because the point is too long and restrictive
@wildflower-spirit-creations have you tried hexagon shawls? I like them because they are straight across the back but look the same as any shawl in front. Just a thought.
That is a good suggestion (about modifying the shape of shawls). I am curious too and will look around (to see what I can find about The Math in crescent shawls). If you find anything on the topic, please let me know.
Hi Heather. Thank you so much for sharing the idea about hexagons. This is very kind.
The red sweater is really going to look cheerful in the winter. Are you going to add any sparkle to it? A MAL sounds like fun. How small of a project could it be? If someone doesn’t have the colour you pick in their stash, can they still participate?
Thank you so much for the great questions. I thought about suggesting a weight or size of project, however some could be fingering and others could be bulky weight scraps. So size could be as small as a pendant, if made from thread. Guessing this could be possible, if someone made their first piece of jewelery. Or as large as a hat. And anything in between... About colour, if one doesn't have something in that colour, I would want everyone who wanted -- to participate. For example if someone doesn't have a shade of orange available, then any other "October-ish" colour would be equally great. Thank you so very much for sharing your idea! And thank you for these questions (as I hadn't thought about how to include someone who might not have "the colour" until you asked it. I definitely don't have "every colour" in my house either. lol Very important question.... And I appreciate you asking it.)
