I must say, your Melodyne 4 Editor tutorials are the best I have seen so far. I have been looking for detail tutorials for Melodyne4 Editor for some time now and nothing comes close to the first two videos that you have created. I will definitely continue to watch the subsequent videos explaining how to use Melodyne 4 Editor properly.
Kinda hilarious to hear you downplay your voice and then actually hear the take in question, which you absolutely killed. Your voice really reminds me of a lot of David Gilmour's vocals, especially on The Division Bell. And yes, that's a huge compliment, I love that album so much. Also, thank you so much for this! Your tutorials are consistently the most clear, direct, and educative music production tutorials I've found on youtube. I constantly find myself just telling people to go to your channel when they ask me how to do a thing or where I learned something, because 9 times out of 10, it's from you, and the other 1 time out of 10, I'm sure I COULD'VE learned it from you even if I didn't.
Heh.. just recorded my first vocals last night. Immediately bought melodyne as I knew they needed help. First video I watched on it was this one. Thank god for this plugin.
Lol I feel you on this vid, Josh. My voice is similar to yours in that I can work with it, but it does indeed take some work. That's not a bad thing, we all have to work on our weaknesses. And your voice is probably better than mine so great job! And thanks for the vid as well, very helpful as always!!
You have fantastic content man! Question though. When you are pitch correcting vocals, are you processing slightly with Eq/Compression/Reverb on the way in and correcting, or are you processing the dry signal? I watched another video of yours showing how to record with an aux track to utilize EQ/Comp plugins on the way in and was wondering what your method was with tuning vocals. Second, having trouble correcting vocals with country "twang" or singers with grit. Melodyne seems to do a poor job with both of these scenarios. Any thoughts on how to get a better tuned product in those situations? Thanks in advance, have enjoyed all of your videos! Lastly, a video on getting great guitar/bass tones from logic amp designer would be awesome and much appreciated =)
I'm sure this program is more powerful, but samplitudes take on pitch correction works so much easier. If the singer has a long note which wobbles up and down, there should be an easy way to move it accordingly. (like in samplitude)
Hi. great video. How do you make permanent the changes you have done to the track in protools 10? Do you bounce it? Please let me know what can I do to only use once the melodyne plugin editor so I can use less CPU power. I want to save the changes done to the track in a permanent way so I do not have to keep the plugin working. Sorry for my english. Thanks in advance.
I would tune the vocals using Melodyne, print the vocals to a separate track, and then deactivate the track that has the Melodyne plugin in case you want to go back and make any additional changes.
I liked the time when singers was real singers… their out of tuned voices were part of they personality, just to name two of them: David Bowie and Neil Young. Excellent tuto btw! ;) But "me and you" has a huge problem… looks like T Pain FX
Hey I need some advice I was following the editing tips that you had said and I was editing my audio suddenly the tracks on Melody *went mute* when I posted and went to Ableton that is mute as well I'm not able to hear anything please help
Just got my 30 day demo of Melodyne and like your videos and have a question what about that glitch in the line, Don't you know, There's "More" to me and you, The word "More" has a bad glitch, I get this same thing when trying to use Flex Pitch in Logic Pro X at times. This is why I'm looking at Melodyne, Do you know what causes this? How to fix it?
Hey, Do you know if the essential version allows you to do the "autotuning" effect? I know it's not the best thing to get for that specifically. I'm tryna figure out the cheapest package of melodyne I should get for christmas lol. I work with mostly rappers, but now-a-days they like to use autotune a bunch. and of course getting it for the few singers I have would be great too.
+BMJWmusic Gaming & Entertainment The essential version does not allow you to control the vibrato at all, so you can't get the autotune effect. You have to go with the Editor version.
+MusicTechHelpGuy Darn you responded before i could get back to you (not a bad thing lol). I read over the user guide manuals and it looks like the Assistant version has everything i need. btw, if you need a singer for that "challenge" i nominate myself haha.
I've used the DeBreather plugin from isotope. Very good. But normally I just go through and edit out breaths before inputting into melodyne. It's manual, and takes longer, but it's the most accurate way to do it. I find that the isotope plug-in sometimes confuses Fs, Cs, and Hs as breaths. What clicking sounds are you talking about? I've had clicks in recordings, but it's usually the result of some converter error. In that case I use a plug-in called X-Click from Waves.

Dang it, you got me to think there was a hair on my screen!
Quite useful video. I was looking for an easy explanation of the formant tool, and now I'm wiser. Thanks.

Hello. Great song, I where can I listen to it? And how did you get these clean timbre on the guitar?

You would’ve been the perfect soft rock singer in the 80s 😂
Chris Bratt?

Is it better to do melodyne after u added effects to the vocals or before?
Definetly before
how do you get rid of the breaths and clicking sounds from vocals?

Duuuude when you're talking you sound exactly like jasksfilms!!!!
I cant hear any difference what so ever... i loaded the videos at the same time and really tried to compare.
its hard to telll right off the bat. the more you use it the more you hear. Its ear training :)
Found this one if u got more send me a link
your like to dislike ratio is insane
the voice sounds so digital
Well it is tuning audio so that’s bound to happen.
the un-tuned vocals are already in tune 😒😒😒 .Use un-tuned vocals sir so we can understand the difference better.
