Sig recently stopped making these. I have a SAS in 40 and absolutely love it. Very accurate. Feels awesome and very easy and comfortable to shoot. I saw one exactly like mine for sale new at my local gun shop for quite a high price. Those that hate it probably haven’t shot it. It’s one of those guns that if you shoot it, you want one.
P239 is my CCW. I love it so much that I bought a back up that stays in it’s box, in the safe. It is there for when I finally shoot the first 239 into the ground.
That is a GEN 2 P239 SAS. I had an original. The original SAS pistols came with the DAK triggers. I sent my back to Sig a few years back and had it converted to GEN 2 spec(SRT trigger). It's a GREAT gun if you want DA/SA hammer fired, metal frame single stack. Very accurate.
I recently picked up a very lightly used P239 and shot it the same day. I learned DA/SA on an M9. The trigger on my variant is a dream. I shot 50 rds, most of which was DA only and finished with a few mags of controlled DA/SA pairs. Felt confident enough to plink at a 50 yard can-ding! Very happy with this purchase.
I heard this is what Air Marshals were issued. Seems a bit bulky for that, but then again, in the cabin of an airliner, I'd be quite happy that an Air Marshal sacrificed comfort for accuracy.
Great gun, they shoot very very well. Actually shoots as well as the 229 or 226 and it's thinner. Very comfortable weapon and the mags carry on your belt lighter.
For those still looking for one of these new, Gander Outdoors has them on sale in the mid $600’s and if that particular store is going out of business they can be had for $485! That is nearly 50% off the $895 average everyday price. I saw two people pick them up from the Gander Outdoors in South West Michigan.
That's a great way to get into DA/SA pistols, after revolvers. "Mastering" the double action trigger takes lots of practice and patience, but with revolvers it's a necessity. A smith model 60 loaded with hot .357 is what I practiced double action on the most in my own "revolver days", and it was worth it now that I've switched to DA/SA autoloaders.
I have the P239 tactical. Love it. I mean, it's a little beast, but it is a shooter. Thanks for the review. Any idea why they stopped production of this fine piece? The Sig ammo works fine, but its 115 grains and I prefer 124. Great Vidio. Keep um comming
I also have the factory SRT Short reset trigger on the tactical model,as well as a treaded barrel and 2 eight round mags and 1 ten round mag. New I paid $725 here in Massachusetts. Great deal. My opinion.
The slide would always scrape up the top of my hand. Yes I have 2 x hand size so although it had glowing reviews I had to find something else. Traded for an older xr250 to a cop as he wanted that gun bad. $800 gun for a $1500 dirt bike gotta like that.
It slides in a cargo pants pocket easy .. it comes out just as easy .. it’s trigger is smoother than the 226 or 229 .. it’s controls are familiar .. and for what it is it is incredibly accurate .. in my personal experience I’m very accurate with a beretta 92 .. I’m incredibly accurate with my dig 239 .. I’m not as accurate with my sig 226 .. I suck with my ppk ( it’s for sale) .. my personal experience is all based on hand size I believe .. I do not like Stryker guns .. I like the transition from double to single or if time allows I cock the hammer .. the reset is predictable and short .. the weight is good because recovery is good with light guns recovery is different and I don’t like it .. lots of people say bad things about this gun based on weight and capacity .. I grade bu rounds on target under stress .. with my 239 I’ve had instructors screaming at me , trying to throw me off focus and the 239 has been the gun I’ve been able to employ and put the rounds on target the best in the compact world .. .. o love mine , if I have to give up all my other handguns and keep one , this will be the one .. as people talk trash about it based on capacity , well what if you live in a capacity limited state ? Then thus gun is the gun to have .. want a little more traditional ? 225a .. oh an quality ? You get what you pay for
I just picked up a P239 I’ve been shottin* the 226 and 220 for over 40 years now, my 226 is my go to as it’s very accurate if I miss it wasn’t the gun…I haven’t shot the 239 yet (rehabbing shoulder surgery) but I love the feel and of course it’s just a scaled down 226 I put threaded barrels on mine, so my 226 has a 5” barrel and my 239 has like a 4.2” barrel and with pistols every bit of barrel length helps velocity as more powder burns ect ect but yeah I’m looking forward to getting some practice with this as it’s my edc now
Mags are the same as the new P22a1. Get a shorter basepad and you are in business. Topgunsupply also has .40 cal mag bodies, springs, and followers (will also work with 9mm) for 5 bucks. Once again get a basepad (or a +1 extension) and you are good to go.
I just don't see that, but concede it could likely be you're used to 9mm's with a (very) low bore axis. I own several sigs and the only way its trickier to shoot than a p226/p229 is having less real estate to hold. Try one in .40 - its honestly the only compact pistol in .40 that I've enjoyed shooting.
I have shot the 239 and I own a few other Sig's. 8 rounds maybe fine for a LEO against one suspect, but if you're facing multiple armed attackers an eight round mag is almost suicide. Real world defensive shootings arent like the movies. 🙄
@@85mackey1 It happens far more often than you think. Especially for under cover personnel who are on their own. But once again, youve proved yourself to be another person with the "Hollywood mentality".😒
Honestly it’s kind of pathetic that a well respected gun company would market a gun for pocket carry like this because of how poor of a way to carry it is. And of course they’re not the only one, but dang

Just picked up a very slightly used one of these in 9mm. I can't believe Sig discontinued these.
I own them & Sig did because of weight & low capacity. Did not sell well
I recently bought a LIKE NEW P239 in .40, with (2) mags, very bright SigLites, case. And papers for $475 OTD. I'm thrilled.

Love mine. It’s my EDC

Air Marshals were issued P229s in 357 Sig. They have since switched to the Glock 19 Gen 5.
Great gun, they shoot very very well. Actually shoots as well as the 229 or 226 and it's thinner. Very comfortable weapon and the mags carry on your belt lighter.
Love the P239 ergonomics. Feels very similar in my hand to the BHP

I have one of these as a DAK version... good gun
I had a P239 DAK in .40. It was easy to shoot well. Kicking myself for letting it and a S&W Model 457 go.
I smile every time it snaps right into the video.
I bought a DAO version in .40 cal. I really like the weapon . I’m a revolver fan but this is winning me over to auto loaders.

Still prefer the recoil impulse of a revolver though.
Great review Chris and great pistol!
Brilliant review as usual. Thank you
Need to get one. Great video.
Good stuff, as always.
My sas has an srt trigger. It's been my daily carry for a few years now.

I have an answer...polymer subcompact pistols at half the cost and good reliability. Not a big hater, just noting market forces

I want one. Or a 225a1.

The P239 is still around? I thought they discontinued it recently. Hopefully I'm wrong
Pretty sure you are correct. I think they dropped them in 2017/18

I thot the "SAS" stood for Small Arm Solutions ?
Why did they stop making this???
Expensive and bulky for a single stack. no magazine compatibility with any other sig.
@@nmende00 what about all the other single stacks coming out?
Nice review.
My P220 SAS DAK is under my pillow as I watch this. :)
I shot one once, thought it had an overly sharp recoil impulse compared to other even lighter 9mm pistols.
I just don't see that, but concede it could likely be you're used to 9mm's with a (very) low bore axis. I own several sigs and the only way its trickier to shoot than a p226/p229 is having less real estate to hold.

It looked like a real flat shooter but maybe it was your skill.
That's kinda big for a BUG.
I love Sig, but I believe they dropped the ball by making that pistol single stack mag.
There's far more concealable options that hold more rounds.
Ricochet: shoot the gun and you will shut up. 8+1 is fine. Carry a back up mag.
I agree, but at the time it was a great choice.
I have shot the 239 and I own a few other Sig's.

Ricochet Multiple armed attackers? Hahahhaha! Calm down John Wick.
