While Stephanik is from Albany and is funded mostly by financial institutions, she has done a great job cooperating with other Representatives and presenting much-needed legislation that includes a slight amendment to a 1930s New Deal act. I am eager to follow her example of being a county-trotting, attuned statesperson.

2016: Yeah I don't think Trump has proved himself to be a good leader yet.
2019: Joins Trump's impeachment defense team.
    Time's done changed.

She would make a great Supreme Court justice one day. Maybe she could replace Ginsburg when she leaves.

It is sad for us North Countrymen/women that Stefanik offered herself up as a North Country native back in 2014.
    She wasn't. What a joke.
Granted, she ran against another non-native, Aaron Wolfe, from the Democratic party, to replace Bill Owen, but as a true resident of the 2st District, I am pissed that we are represented by nothing more that your basic political apparatchik, provided to us North Country folks from the right wing of American politics from the Republican party.
This is an embarrassment. No thank you. Be a Republican, be a Democrat, I don't care. I know what our local culture is and she is not part of it.
I recognize that, historically, the Congressional 21st district in NYS is a community that for the most part, supports moderate Republicans for office. Understand that I am a hard-core radical Progressive for the most part, and I am going to support Bernie Sanders for the presidency, but to all my fellow North Countryfolk, Stefanik is not "North Country." Far from it.
Watertown is the epicenter of the 21st district. An Army base town. I get it. I am former USMC, a veteran of the Vietnam war. Stefanik is going to be pro-military. You can't win our district without being pro-military and she does a serviceable job voting for vet support, still, she is beholden to the Right Wing of the RepublicanPparty and wealthy Wall Street contributors.
Stefanik was the largest recipient of campaign contributions from hedge funds of any sitting member of the House of Representatives during the 2014 campaign, according to data compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics at opensecrets.org. More than John Boehner, for crying out loud. How much was contributed to her campaign? $162,716 to do Wall Street's bidding. Will she do the North Country's bidding? I doubt it.
There is too much detail about Stefanik's voting record to state it here, but she is not our friend North Country. She is running for re-election and, in my opinion, this is a right wing kid who does not belong as a representative of our community.
