LEGENDARY PASTA & SANDWICHES! Food Tour of Florence Italy
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 3 июн 2024
- My food adventure in Florence Italy continues as I spend the entire day just eating nonstop which is my type of fun :-) I really wanted to try out some iconic Florentine dishes and just as much pasta as I can get my hands on.
For my first stop I went to the central market which is a great place to just hang out and eat, walk around then eat some more and hit the repeat button all day. Then I went looking for a local restaurant that is PACKED all the time and finally went pasta hunting. All in all, a pretty fun day!

You know it's a good bite when Mike squints while chewing after, then points to the food three times.
And nods his head as he chews. :)
LMAO
That’s called acting... and you’ve fallen for it lol.
@@kennethoconnor9367 acting for what lol
Kenneth O'Connor Why would he have to lie, he literally says if he doesn’t like anything, no matter what. It’s not that deep, he loves food 🤷♀️
“I’m not allowed to have two meats”? Lol the Italian server whispering “I will do it” iconic 😂
@Roland Tuason the point in italy is not to stuff yourself but to enjoy.
@@YepsMr this is foreign to americans
@@YepsMr I am going to eat 6 pizzas a day in naples
I would of said I am paying, I will have 2 meats if I want. Panini looked extra dry though. Why dont places put butter on the bread. I wouldn't touch that bread if it didn't have butter on.
@@YepsMr Something Mikey Chen doesn't know the meaning of. He eats like he hasn't eaten for a week
When I came back from Italy I couldn't eat pasta for a year after. That's how good the pasta in Italy is.
uma9493 wow
Then do cook it
I feel the same about bread
same case with me. not just with pasta. pizza and coffee as well. heavens god the coffee
you just sound like a snob.
When the lady whispered that she’d put the 2 meats on for you, is just a really good example of how generous and nice other countries are.
She also knows she's on camera
@@maxheadrum9030 lol right?
@@maxheadrum9030 But she would have done it anyway.
tricky dick or would she have??!?!??!?!
What do you mean other countries, which country do you reside in?
When you use bread to clean the dish from sauce, then you're doing "scarpetta". And scarpetta it's what makes you an honorary italian citizen!
Cesare Nero so, I’ve been doing that since I was a little girl. That’s what I saw my parents do. But we’re all Irish! Can I still be an honorary citizen? Lol
i think this is a world wide thing and not just an italian thing.
@@YepsMr i've never saw and asian do that
@@madapigi1 I'm an asian(not chinese) and we do this whenever we eat something with a bread!
Jamshed Alam oh that’s interesting.
The Italians have the knack of taking a few simple ingredients and turning them into something superb. I have been around the world and there is nothing like it anywhere else. Try if you want, but you will not find any bad food in Italy. The bread is unbelievable, I have tried and failed to duplicate it many times and I have never found it anywhere else...it's a mystery :) You might come across something weird occasionally but no matter....it will still taste superb. Fresh is key...I seen a woman at the market in Naples snurlling her nose up at the best looking artichokes I have ever seen, because the weren't fresh enough lol.
Where have you been in Italy, exactly?
that coz every single simple ingredient has high quality flavour here in Italy.
you're right, simple but above all fresh ingredients and then the gastronomic tradition that should be a UNESCO heritage site. it is a form of popular culture that is difficult to transfer to other countries. It is essential for an Italian to eat well but because it is a habit. Unfortunately in modern life we have to accept some compromises. unwillingly I live in Bergamo, this is a terrible moment, but luckily nothing is missing and good food helps us to live carefree moments ciao
@@claudiofoiadelli8721 com'è la situazione lì? Sono in Giappone, purtroppo non posso tornare in Italia.

Ur gonna turn noodles into a beef sandwich ok

I’m imaging my piece of loaf to be those sandwiches 😞
The console Myth *cough cough* pasta *cough cough*
Hi Mike! This past spring semester in college I studied abroad in Perugia, Italy for 6 months (it’s right between Rome and Florence) and I couldn’t recommend a place more to go for food! I had been to Florence and Rome many times when I was abroad and the food is obviously amazing in those two places but the food in Perugia I think is even more amazing! It’s even more affordable as well. If you ever go back to Italy, which I highly recommend, you should go to smaller cities as well! The food, the views, and the people are truly amazing and it really gives you a feel of the true Italian lifestyle. The region of Umbria has amazing little towns and cities and I would recommend them to anyone if you want to see more of Italy!
tiy2973556918@,
Umbria is spectacular 🔝😉
Every region in Italy is fantastic and often completely different from each other
Italy is so beautiful
Story time. I went to Rome on a two week college course studying archaeology in 2013. We went to Lake Nemi's caves, and walked for a good four hours. On the way back, I had the best meal ever at a restaurant near a cliff that I don't know the name of and I'm sure I'll never find again. They served the food family-style. When the meal was over, I ordered the Tiramisu for dessert. That was the best thing I have ever eaten, and I'll never find it again.
Inglonias I studied in Rome for 10 weeks this past sunmer and made my way to Nemi and the surrounding towns. I can attest. The food is amazing
Just find the approximate location and check Google maps, 99% of restaurants are listed on Google maps, it won't be that hard to find it.
@@adriang3492 I believe it's the mindset, if not just a necessity for living, food is feeling
was it mcdonalds?
there's not many restaurants in nemi (or the surrounding area) that are near a cliff. If it was facing the lake (most likely), then that narrows it down to 15 restaurants at most, less then 10 if it was in the centre of nemi
When the crunch of bread is enough to make your mouth water!!
That sound had me going.
I toured Italy 3 years ago and it was some of the best food I'd ever had...even the rest stops had amazing fresh food!
Italy, the best in the world for the food, case closed. 👍👍🔝🔝
San Sebastian: Hold my cerveza....
I put two countries up there almost equally.. Italy and Thailand. Locally sourced in the small laneways and backstreets. So different but each on another level to their neighbours....I say almost because Italy just takes the first spot
Only Mikey could get offered a free piece of someones steak haha love it
My goodness those panini looked fabulous! Italian cheeses and meats are to die fore, I remember when I went to Sicily and tried the deli meats, fresh cheeses and ricotta’s 😍😍 so good.
It's Italian food, of course it's amazing.
I love it when the food is so incredible that Mike looks like he saw a unicorn pegasus!!! His facial expressions are so trusting!
For Halloween, you should make the chopsticks go through the cartoon dumpling and have filling leak out!
yesss
It should leak hot oil!
*NO*
He a grown man not some kid anymore.
KhoiKO it’s supposed to be just some fun thing for Halloween
All I would do is eat in Italy. I know it. I can't believe that's the first time you had prosciutto wrapped around cantaloupe tho! It's soooo good.
I know, I missed out
But now you know and when you see it on a menu you can get it.
hey man.. travel to Argentina.. you def gonna love it.!!!
Italians are amazing! One of my best friends is Italian and his parents make the best food.
Haha so true man
Panini Toscani is amazing! I was there in May. You should have checked out Osteria Pastella. Pasta is cooked inside a cheese wheel of Granna Padano cheese topped with black truffles!!!
This is my favorite city on earth with the BEST food on earth, bar none! I've been to Florence many time, as well as other cities in Italia, but the food in Florence is mind bending. It spoils your taste for food anywhere else. Only Roma came a close second. Simply put, everything about Florence is magnificent, majestic, painfully beautiful, especially its sunsets, and its history. Bella Firenze!
Try Bologna next time :)
@@alessandromancuso3733 Yes, I have wanted to visit beautiful Bologna and gaze at this magnificent city from the top of one of its famous towers, to take in the view of all those gorgeous burnt-Siena orange/red roof tops. It looks like it's a magical city due mostly to its historical significance. However, travel nowadays is dangerous, but one day I may make it there.
@@mibelloaleman If you can, come to Genova too. Here you must try trofie al pesto, pansoti al sugo di noci, focaccia, panissa fritta and farinata ;)
@@alessandromancuso3733@Alessandro Grazie for your comment. I loved it! It sounds so delicious that now I am hungry! I wish I was in bella Italia and eating all its wonderful foods, not to mention the exquisite beauty of it. I miss it badly! But with this pandemic who knows when I will be able to travel again. Recently I have been missing Roma, even though the last time I was there the people were very nasty to me (which I never understood because I am a very polite and friendly traveler, not a tourist). I had vowed that I would NEVER return to it, but I miss it and all the beautiful spots that I have wonderful memories of, i.e., like sitting in a café with a perfect view of the Vittorio Emmanuel monument. I sat there for as long as I was allowed just enjoying the view. Magnificent! But yes, I would consider going to Genoa (it too is beautiful), but first going to Ferrara to visit the gorgeous castle, and back to bella, bella Siena, where I was BEST treated by its people, who treated me like royalty! They are the warmest, friendliest people I met in Italia. The rudest, the nastiest were the Romans. I wish I was in Piazza del Campo in Siena. Sorry for this long post, but I so appreciate you sharing your thoughts about the awesome food, or architecture or history, of Italia because I love it so.
I’ve been watching your videos for years Mikey and you’ve helped me explore so many new areas of food I never would have found without you. I love your unfiltered passion for what you do. It makes it so much fun to watch.
One year into covid and I think I’ve watched every Mike Chen show as I can. God it helps so much
Poor, beautiful Italy. Hope you all recover safely. We love you. ❤️🙏🏻
Sophie Jackson Thankyou, Stay strong too ❤️🇮🇹
I’m a chinese boy born and raise in Florence and I’m super happy that u try our food especially lampredotto, favourite food ever
I seriously need to move to 🇮🇹 just for the sandwiches, pasta and pizza!
The pizza isn't the best because there pizza is cheese bland sauce sometimes some meat but in America it's the pizza we all know and love
If you come to Italy I'll personally walk you around the country to make you change your mind hahaha
Cheesybutt Cough haha I’ve eaten tons of pizza in both America & Italy and I must say I personally prefer 🇮🇹. I do crave for a NY slice or Chicago style from time to time. 🍕 is my jam!

Wait......hold up, mikey eating veggies and loving them!? it must be italy 😄
You guys are so blessed to be able to travel to so many places and try so many different foods
Its funny I didn't dive into these Florence vids right off the bat. So used to seeing you eat foods that are so foreign to my palate that I thought these Florence vids would be too vanilla. Man was I wrong. These are so cool, now I want you to stay there longer. I guess bottom line is me and the 1.6 mill subscribers just enjoy watching you eat.
I have yet to try tripe. It's quite popular here in the UK with the older generation, and is usually served with vinegar and stewed onions. We call it 'stewed knitting'. Not sure I fancy our version lol. I like the look of the Spanish way of braising it in paprika and olive oil and tomatoes into a sort of stew. Great vid as always Mikey.
Adam's Eats I’ve tried so hard to eat tripe.... in menudo, in pho, chitterlings.... I want to eat it! But I just cannot.
Sherry Osinga At least you’re a step ahead of me. I’ve tried so hard to order tripe but...
tripe is great in a bowl of pho!
Tripe is an acquired taste, to me it's not good. He says it's as clean as it gets, I guess I've never had clean tripe, it's disgusting.
Only few words dude : Trippa e Fagioli. Trippa e Fagioli.
I'm from Florence and I really appreciate the way you taste our food! You are a professional! Nothing to say, the very best ambassador of food all over the world! Amazing! Bell ON!
tell me yall not craving for some good pasta right now.. damn
Or a sandwich with some good 'crunchy on the outside ,moist on the inside' bread!!
Watching Mike taste delicious food and describe it makes me feel that I fulfilled my life's purpose, Awesome. Love Mike all-day everyday.
Very glad you came here in Florence to visit us Mikey, nice job💪🏻
Thank you for this awesome video. I’m from Florence. I’ve never been there so this was great to see. My grandparents came here in the 20’s and raised a large family. I have fond memories of the good food my grandmother made and home made pasta’s.
Why am I watching this at night? Damn. My mouth is watering.
The salty/sweet thing is definitely something I enjoy. My grandmother used to bring sliced cantaloupe to breakfast, where we would put it on top of sausage gravy biscuits. (Southern U.S.) Sliced tomato is also delicious on gravy biscuits. And I put salt on nearly every type of fruit. Watermelon, mango, apples, peaches, pears. So good.
Freshly sliced bananas on toast, lots of butter and a sprinkle of salt ❤️
Dude your making everyone Hungry Mikey!✌🐼🤳
The way that you eat your food looks so scrumptious and you make it so enjoyable with more great food and travels. Thanks Mikey.
I know I’m late to this party but Florence is my absolute favorite Italian city. I love seeing it through other people’s eyes...and stomachs

Ok...that's it!!!! Whether you eat or not.. watching Mike eat food in Italy would make you ravenous😁 It all look sooo amazing and you can tell from his expressions that he is blown away👍👍😚excellent job Mikey...
Love Mike's incredible appetite! I can't believe he ate ALL that in one day. I am watching this 1 year later and I almost cried when I saw beloved Florence, which I haven't visited in years. I miss this most exquisite city, but the food is the BEST ever! He is right, you can't have a bad food day. Impossible in Florence! It has the best food ever! I still remember a minestrone soup I had in a tiny restaurant that looked like Dante was about to walk in. It was so delicious that I have not had one as good since (and I'm talking many years). The food is SO good that it spoiled it for me having Italian food not from Italy, particularly from Florence.
I have been watching your channel for a few years, and I New back then that your channel would grow exponentially. I am Italian, and this video was so much fun to watch! Thank you so much for your wonderful travels.

A 67 yo Englishman Londoner of 100% Italian parentage here. I fell in LOVE with Florence when I visited 7 years back and hope, some day, to be able to go back this wretched virus permitting. The food was just outstanding, there is a science to cooking and, coupled with the passion and insistence on quality the locals have, it was a truly winning combination.

Lmao pasta as an appetizer and celery as side dish nice a little weird but it's delicious for me to see it
What are the main coursees in Italy then? Or are there no main courses?
Steak. Pork. I'm sure there's chicken too. Were you not watching the video?
Pasta is usually the first plate, the one that fill the Most. After we eat the "secondo", like meat and side dish
@@-EchoesIntoEternity- pasta is traditionally a PRIMO not a SECONDO...
@@Erhnam_Djinn soooo... Italian here. In Italy we don't really have the concept of "main course". Most very traditional meal have at least two courses: "primo" (which usually consists of carbs, such as pasta or rice) and "secondo" (which usually consists of proteins, such as meats, fish, cheeses, egg dishes, etc.). The "secondo" is usually served accompanied by vegetables. Typically at the end of all of it we eat fruit. Now, this is only how very traditional meals work, but nowadays people would either eat a primo or a secondo plus veggies and some fruit afterwards. Some exceptions do exist, but are rather rare.
I've been a vegetarian for 14 years and Mike is starting my conversion back to eating flesh haha.
haha nice!

Florence citizen here! Glad you enjoyed lampredotto, it's my favourite😋 I would KILL for a panino al lampredotto.
When I don't have enough time to have lunch at home I always go and get one to the closest "lampredottaro" that I find (yeah, I think almost everyone in Florence calls the man who makes lampredotto "lampredottaro"😂)
I remember that once, when I was younger, I was walking with my family in the center of the city and we found a random lampredotto stand at 4 P.M.
What we did? We literally ate a panino al lampredotto at 4 P.M. . That was great.
And also almost every saturday, until some months ago, my parents used to go to the market to buy fresh products while I was in school and they used to buy some lampredotto there for my lunch after school! Great times... now I'm on diet so I can't eat it very often😩
And yeah, the lampredottaro in the Central Market is reaaaally good, but there are many more stands with AWESOME lampredotto. Near Piazza Beccaria, in Via Gioberti, there's the stand called "I'trippaio di Firenze" that makes a great lampredotto. Many of these stands called "I'trippaio di Firenze" are around the city and are so good😉.
Okay, no jokes now, I'm craving it so bad at 1:28 AM. Gonna get one tomorrow then and screw up diet.
And ribollita! Probably the best winter meal ever.
It brings me back to my childhood, I used to eat it A LOT with my grandma. During winter it just warms your heart and makes you feel good, it's a comfortable meal and absolutely great to share with your family!
