If you are thinking of love as a distraction maybe that isn't love, but longing or boredom? Are you truly loving when you are only focusing on how you are being satisfied, how you are receiving a feeling of comfort? If it is true love then you have nothing to lose, really, when you are giving love for the sake of just being open-minded and loving people, then you don't lose anything, and IF ANYTHING that person will come to you. They will be drawn to you by the love you so freely give to the people around you. This doesn't mean you go and hook up with everyone because that is not love. It just means being kind and not harboring negative thoughts towards anyone around you.

This is a such a beautiful intro. It’s crazy how I’m actively talking about being alone with my friends right now. Falling in love is the easy part. Difficulty arises when you are trying to maintain a relationship long term even more if it’s a long distance relationship. I don’t see my partner as just my boyfriend/romantic partner. He is also my best friend. Strong Friendship with your romantic partner is very important which people don’t realise.
I'm a senior in high school about to go to college and this video really changed my mind about love. I've neglected love in the past, because I would rather work on myself, but because I've never been in a serious relationship before I'm starting to think that I should experience it just so that I can grow further. Maybe that relationship would teach me how to love others more efficiently, because right now I tend to neglect it.
i always thought love was what it was like in the movies i watched and books i’ve read. however, once i actually started dating, i realized that i couldn’t tell the difference between love and fear. i was motivated by the fear of losing the person or loving on conditional terms. if i do date again, i want it to be so that i’m aware of myself of my motives and aware of where the other person is at. i struggle trusting myself. i won’t date again until it’s to love someone for good reason.
A distraction from life can be a distraction from the greatest opportunities, this was beautiful ❤
This video really came at a great time for me, and like- One part of it at around 3:30 where you say "a love where you can fall head-first because you don't know what it's like to crash" is really just so true. That first crush/heartbreak really defined my expectations for well, everything? University is a crazy experience, love is crazier, and your videos always manage to make things easier.
I absolutely admire how carefully you make your videos and how much thought you put into both what you're saying as well as blending it so seamlessly into a vlog of your life. There's so many different view points about love and lately I've been reading so many books about it (currently: The Art of Loving) and it's so fascinating and insightful to know that everyone has different experiences, yet we can all understand what it feels like to crave love, be loved, or give love-in any facet. Your take on love as a college student was SO amazing though and made me think a lot about what it means to grow as a person and whether/how it can be done both when you're single versus a relationship. this video came at a great time! what happened to me recently is i realized i still like a guy i liked 2 yrs ago, but we ended up going to different high schools, and i had been thinking that i would really want to be with him, but this helped me realize i shouldn't rush things or push things because it's not truly good for you if you push a relationship. i also realized a big part of why i really wanted to be with him was for my own validation and that is not healthy for me! thank you for this video, it was amazing as always!

I relate so deeply to your explanation of what it's like to be single after being in love for the first time. When I got to college, I met my first love and I was never the same after that. I tried to find love in every hookup and situationship I had after that but no one made me feel the same way. Over time I've realized that I'd rather just be alone than pine after a feeling that should just come naturally when you meet the right person. Thank you for this video and putting my thoughts into words.

You are so wise, Im not even gonna add "for your age". Im 34, having similar insights to what you shared. I recently came out of a long distance relationship, that forced me to keep ALL of my relationships, not just isolating into that one as I usually do, and its been a valuable experience to see how important it is for me to nurture all my relationships to be able to nurture myself. Ive been realising Im very much an introvert with limited energy for socialising, and in a very close relationship I tend to get that need fulfilled by a partner. But its easy to lose myself If I dont spread my energy onto all aspects of my life equally... Beautiful! ❤

I too have fallen out of my first heartbreak and it's been terrible. I've tried so desperately to fill that void just to be drowned into more voids. And dating in college has just made everything even worse, you're so right about not letting romantic love come in between. It messed up everything, I'd rather focus on putting my love elsewhere.

Good Morning! Glad to see you posting again. I know it must be heavy on your schedule, but it’s still nice to see you back! And wow, you’ve certainly chosen an interesting subject (smile). Without saying, love is many things, and it can also be expressed in a number of superlative ways untold. Vaguely I do recall a random study (that said) most women will experience their first kiss at around age 15 and will find their soulmate at around age 27. But what occurs between those two unique milestones (in what was summarily described as being this sort of blitheful ‘experimental’ dating phase) can vary and be quite different individually. So yes, love can be fragile indeed, but with balance and patience, I truly predict and believe your heart’s wishes will be happily fulfilled. I could go on (lol) but I'll leave it there. In Nigeria, we say love na scam or love is a scam because teenagers in my country are at that stage where relationships are strongly attached to the sex part, and now as we grow up we believe as well that there isn't love just the other side of the relationship. But to me, there is love, not just between lovers but a love of nature or passions or between friends and family. That is what these Nigerians don't know, Love is in different forms, some are open for us to see while some, the pure forms of love are hidden under wraps but are everywhere within and around us.

honestly, love is a very sensitive and distant topic to me. As a 18 year old queer person, who’s never had the opportunity or option to fall in love but seeing all my straight friends have their “first teenage love”, makes me feel absolutely lonely. I know that my time for love is going to come & that I’m still a young person, however I still feel like I’ve missed out on an experience everyone in my social surrounding has already had

I love situationships lmao. The one I have with a guy rn is so deep and meaningful for both of us. We are exclusive and communicate A LOT. For us its just important that the other person is there and we dont care about what other people might call us or what frame we should give this whole thing. I just wanna say with this: situationships arent always bad. Sometimes they are the right thing at the right time and they can teach you a lot and you can also have a deep and meaningful connection with the person eventhough its not a relationship

i don’t know what love is. sometimes i’m so set on marrying this boy i’m dating i tell myself this is it i’ve found my man my soulmate. i warn myself don’t do anything stupid don’t lose him. i convince myself that he’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me. but once we get into an argument (very very rare but brutal), i start to question. many times i want to break up with him but find that he’s all i have…. i’m in senior year of high school but i live alone in the city, my dad lives in another city and my mom moved to a different continent last year. i lost all my friends once i started dating my boyfriend because he was my good friend’s ex boyfriend from five years ago…. but it’s been five years and this ‘friend’ actually helped some boys sexually harass me at a party… so i don’t know how i’m the monster here… but basically she made the entire school to hate me and spread rumors abt me being a bad friend and now i have no friends and no family. all i have is him. so completely agree with what you said about the importance of having a support system that stems beyond one person because it’s been so hard. and i’m the type to be afraid that ppl think i’m negative because i tend to have a lot of negative thoughts, so i take everything in myself. i scroll on my contacts list on my phone at night when i’m completely torn down and broken and i find no one to call. and recently, i tore my ACL in a soccer tournament and im injured, need surgery, with no family, no friends, just my boyfriend. sometimes im confused as to whether i love him endlessly or whether i’m just so attached that im overrun by the fear of losing him because he’s all i have….
I had 2 girlfriends in college. I don't regret either of them. I learned a lot from them and they were deeply enriching experiences. If anything, now I know more of what I want in a good relationship and how to be a better boyfriend.
You can experience true love once again but, you need to find a maturing mind that is lonely.
You catch them when they’re working hard and at the lowest romantic wise.
The time spent together will feel like true love because the “honey moon” phase has activated where he will take care of you and spending time with him is all he needs to be happy 😊

Yeah love doesn't have to be romantic...HOLY SHIT 45 pound RDLS...you know I never thought about it that way before. I guess I used to want a romantic relationship because it seemed like an easy fix to life's problems. I say I've given up on love but It's only in the romantic way. I still think that having a meaningful friendship is worth my time. Nice video, also like enjoying the fitness side of introspection on RUclips. you should read "all about love" by bell hooks!! she sees love as an ACTION not a feeling as you referred to. i think you are referring to feelings of lust and cathexis (emotional ego attachment) that a new romantic relationship brings, rather than love.

hi! i'm in a similar situation w my bf except we're the same age lolol i'm 6 hours away from him due to uni and he stayed in our hometown for nursing school. essentially, we can't see each other in person regularly. in order to lessen the sting of missing each other, we facetime every day. we'll study together, watch tv shows/movies over discord, play games together, etc. it's all about finding new ways to be in each other's company. i hope i was able to provide you w some comfort/ideas, good luck w school!
