    Hi Emma, I also like to go in a hot air balloon. If you have the opportunity to do so, only travel in a smaller balloon with a maximum of 3 people. The weight greatly affects the maneuverability of the balloon. So itˋs much safer. Have a nice trip and a fantastic experience. You will never forget. Happy landings!

    I can see it now: 3" round patch, out side top centered edge about 1/2 way around reads GLORIOUS SANDING, out side bottom edge is smaller font then top reads SV BASIK, center of patch in a very contrasting color shows A GLORIOUS ORBITAL SANDER. A patch that is ideal for your hoodie, jacket, base ball cap, or a simple refrigerator magnet. I give you this glorious patch idea, with full rights to do as you see fit. No claims of copywrite by me exist. Be happy, be safe. Emma and Compass are the best!

    Great job Teal and Linh, the sailing catamaran looks like new, however with all the upgrades and redesigning you two have done she is way ahead of the curve. Love the backup for engine cooling. With your planned world travel, there will be some areas of heavy pollution. Very wise Captain Teal. I noticed your rudder, but figured it was one of a touch up project not worthy of the attention of your audience. No one would expect you to fool us as we trust you and you don’t do anything that anyone should criticize your great attention to detail. Here’s to a great launching. God Bless🙏🐻

    If there was ever a cat built that I’d feel safe crossing an ocean on - it would be SV Basik! I’m a bit of a perfectionist myself so, I appreciate Teal’s desire to over-engineer things and to take projects a step further than necessary. I also understand how frustrating those tendencies can be to your family or crew, especially after weeks and weeks of sitting on the hard. But, I suspect all that extra effort will become greatly appreciated by everyone during a passage with the first encounter of heavy weather and big seas. 😎

    🙋‍♀️HELLO SV BASIK CREW! Teal, I didn't know what a rudder was 'til you pointed it out. Being docked as you are out of the water, the shape to me could have been a boogie board, or a paddle craft to stand on while skimming the surface of the water. It wasn't unusual to me to see shapes of this sort on docks with boats. I was so focused on watching how you created this top for your Catamaran, I didn't dare look away. It was new to me. It looks so beautiful, like a brand new boat. Well kept. I could feel your excitement Emma seeing the Hot Air Balloons, as I enjoy seeing all the balloons, & various colors also. Lihn you roll like I do. That's a good thing! My niece has a board she stands on at the lake with Lulu. Lulu looks like she's smiling, such a happy little Applehead Chihuau. That's what that tongue shaped board reminded me of. Forgive my ignorance please. I hope you all have a very good week. Enjoyed your video.

    • @theTeslaFalcon
      @theTeslaFalcon 2 года назад

      For sure. I'm starting a fiberglassable project. Just one problem: the big box stores only carry resin in quarts, glass cloth in TINY bags, no fumed silica at all. They're expecting car body repairs, not big projects. I guess that's what happens when u live >1,000 miles from a large body of water.
      I'll have to use the "poor man's fiberglass" method for my project.

    Back in the 70's when I was learning my trade as an oil and colour chemist we used to add a dose of TBTO and TBTA to all boot stripe paint so it was a smooth gloss yet also had antifouling properties very effective until they were both banned. Rightly so they are both really bad in the environment (but they worked) We also made epoxy timber sealers for boats containing Pentachlora Phenol which is why you should never stand downwind from a burning boat of that era.

    The meticulous perfection and just the brainiac genius gives me a headache. I love it. The engineering, and skill. This catamaran is perfection. And how clean it is. Not a speck of dust, rust, or grime from top to bottom. What you folks time spent on hands-on projects, would take me twice the time just to keep it clean. Is there new science on using stainless steel below water ? Stainless needs oxygen. I was told never to do it, as stray marina voltage will attack it and no warning of failure unlike bronse turning pink. I know it's common to use stainless for rudder posts, but a through hull valve is real danger If it fails.

    I can verify that rumor about hot air balloons landing on your property and gifting you a nice bottle of champagne! I use to live on a ranch where things were known to fall out of the sky. You know just the normal stuff like U2 Airforce planes and stuff. I remember on one hot 113 degree temp day a pilot was just randomly walking out of one of our fields, and there was nothing but our field and a reservoir/lake. We didn't notice but an small airplane had crashed out there. Then one morning at 5:30 am we had a knock on the door asking if we would mind unlocking a gate to the same field that the U2 had crashed and the other plane had crashed, and letting them drive their truck into our field to load up the balloon that had come down there. Before they left they came back to give us a bottle of nice champagne! It was thank you, for allowing them an entrance so they didn't have to walk everything out and over fences. It is a tradition, and I am not sure if it is just in California or everywhere, but I am sure it is everywhere! We lived way up north in Calif at the time, but just wanted to let you know Napa actually has a hot air balloon festival, and that might have been why you were seeing so many of them.

    I love your channel, you have given such insight on what it takes to maintain a sailboat and relationship. I have a question for Teal regarding the rudders and the dangers of them being damaged while underway. My question is have you considered building some sort of skeg to protect them, you're so good that I think it is within your abilities. The reason I am asking is because of listening to John Kretchmer on Project Atticus when they were considering features on their new boat. A skeg was a major factor in their sailboat construction. Mr. Kretchmer was commenting that the no. 1 reason that sailboats are abandoned at sea is due to rudder damage. I've noticed that only a few catamarans have skegs to protect their rudders. I realize that the sail drives are close to the rudders and that the rudders are of a semi balanced type (not sure if I'm using correct terminology). You seem always to come up with solutions to difficult design situations, so I'm certain its within your skill sets. May be there are other factors I'm not seeing. Anyway thank you for all the hard work that you put in producing your channel. Thanks Jamil

You can also go to Balboa Yacht Club and talk to them about docking or the use of one of their many mooring balls that they own in front of the club. Let me know if that's something you would like to do and I'll set it up. By the way, both of my friends docks are located on the peninsula between the Balboa Island ferry and the channel entrance about half way. The 1100 hundredth block to be precise.

    Sorry I missed your rudder Where's Waldo game but that just goes to show that your content is interesting enough that it kept my attention in every episode and I'm sure will continue to do so. 👍🙂

    Side comment and question. Have you watched "Sailing Yaba" at all? Or any other subscribers? I am curious if the skills to rebuild Yaba' exist in Port Townsend? I am very impressed with the primitive but effectiveness displayed by those men in that shipyard in Brazil.

    When your back on your way out do you go through Raccoon Straights or around Angel Island? You guys should think about a send off party of locals to wave you off on your voyage from the Golden Gate Bridge.

    Can’t believe Teal was pulling ‘the rudder one’ either 🤣

    Think maybe your rudder got slightly damaged when you hit that deadhead? Loving your videos, 1 at a time. 💓

    I saw the rudder on its side in one video, but figured since you seem to cover multiple projects simultaneously, explanation would be coming.... and also, "The student must not question the master. " Isn't that some ancient chinese proverb????
