We leave the beautiful little village of Alrewas and head over towards Burton upon Trent. We visit the IWA boat festival and it's time for us to make some decisions about our next moves in the boat!

Really enjoy your vlogs! Just a note about your diesel level. Best to keep the diesel topped up to avoid water condensation which can lead to "diesel bug". It creates like black muck that locks up your engine. Best wishes from Florida!

Interesting seeing Holly on one of ya'lls vlogs since it was after watching one of their's the suggestion to watch what I believe was video two for y'all made me fall in love with the channel.

Both of those canals get very low water, just to let you know. K&A just floods, often badly. We used to stay on a 15 mile pound on Grand Union, between Welford , Blisworth and Northampton. Water, post office type shops, trains, coal and desel all readily available. Of course we got frozen in three winters running so made sure to find a good spot before that happened.

It's funny how similar vocabulary means two differents in America vs. England. You were going on about a "waterpark" and over HERE that would mean a water-focused amusement park, with all kinds of water-based rides & slides & attractions. But THERE it means literally a park featuring a lot of water. :)
Hmm, maybe there was a slide in there 😊. But yes it kinda is what they call them here too, but also just small lakes as well!
Nice one guys. The tomato plants came good in the end despite Emily being concerned at how stunted they looked. Good to see Alan studying the map book and getting involved with the route planning...bless her!

@@BenandEmily There is a company in Wales which sells Wood Chippings, cheaper than coal, I used to have our apt in Halesowen run with it.....slow burning and very economical and gives out tremendlus heat...

A question for your Q&A: What you think about the apparent contradiction between the idyllic off-grid "natural" life style of narrowboat life and the need to use diesel and coal for power and heat? It seems such a shame that there appears to be no properly green option... yet.
Anyway, please keep making your videos, I am genuinely delighted whenever a new one drops.

I really enjoyed the cruise to the water park. So clear water on the river part of the Trent & Mersey. Stunning countryside too.
The IWA Boat Festival was fascinating. So many beautiful workboats. I hope your castles fit onto whatever you plan to put them. The pasta with "Sauce Emily" looked yummy. Gave me an idea for lunch today!
Off to Wales then. I guess so will alot of other permanent cruisers because the Llangollen Canal is fed by the River Dee, so no trouble with water supply. Love to you all and thanks for a wonderful video. Stay safe please.

The clear water north of Alrewas is likely due to it being a river not a canal and the constant flow of the Trent flushing the sediment away. Thanks for the journey, looking forward to future travels :)
The marina has a good farm shop called Butcher Baker when you go past again.
Also I can't believe you didn't show 'pulse and cocktails' on the video..... I know you saw it when you went past- its got to be one of the weirdest things to be next to a motorway.

It was good to see you finally got to my old home town in Burton. I still work right next door to shobnall fields. It was definitely a busy weekend there with the boat festival going on.
