  • In this video we will see how to grow Guava the 'Apple of the Tropics' in your garden.
    I have been doing terrace garden from past 4 years in Bangalore and growing Guava has always been in my todo list. And when i finally managed to pre-learn about it and get a good sapling i decided to make a video of it right from the sapling to at-least 2 harvests.
    --- ABOUT GUAVA ---
    Guava is very famous fruit in India and is grown almost all part of India. Guava is a fruit tree which is cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions, There are several varieties of guava, but most of them fall under two categories of Guavas with white flesh and Guavas with pink to red flesh. The taste, texture and sizes also varies based on cultivar.
    In India Guava is called as Amrud in Hindi, and has various other names in local languages as well.
    --- MY EXPERIENCE ---
    I wanted to grow Guava from seeds but after speaking to local nursery guys i realized it is best to get a sapling from them. Because Guava grown from seeds will take at least 2 years to mature and give fruit. Whereas an air layered or grafted sapling will start to yield within a year.
    After planing the sapling i used lot of manure and very little soil, as Guava is heavy feeder, so use at-least 80% manure and 20% soil, I used cow-dung manure, kitchen waste and red soil in the ratio of 40:40:20. Also make sure it gets plenty of sunlight and water is regularly at-least once a day.
    After doing this within the first month my sapling started to grow new shoots and surprisingly gave flowers as well, these flowers gave us two fruits from the tiny sapling as well. After harvesting this i changed the plant to a bigger pot, This allowed the sapling to grow very well, it just started to grow several new shoots and gave lot of flowers.
    The second flowering season i did hand pollination as i was afraid if these flowers will fall off. and in my second season i got atleast 10 fruits from such a tiny sapling.
    That's it for now Happy Gardening

    Your video was very helpful with all the information for growing guava, how to care for, prune, pollinate and repotting, etc.
    I have seedlings about 13weeks old, planted from bought guava on 29th Sept. '17. Still very small, 5 sets of leaves. But it is Winter here in England and I am in zone 7 and I have 8 plants. We haven't had hardly any sun and I keep them on my windowsill.
    I hoping we get more sunshine soon to help them to survive.

    I was a bit concerned about the length of video which is 12 minutes but once I started viewing it I did not realise when I was at end of the video. It shows how well made your video is. And it could not have come at a better time than now as I have just bought a Guava plant in my terrace garden. Learned all about the potting mix, pruning, flowering and fruiting. All info in one video, that's great.Just one question, how much time it takes a flower to become ripen fruit?
    And fellow gardeners should learn from this video about care one should give to their plants to get good results. One should look the way you people supported the tree and its fruits and that's only possible if you really love your garden and personally care for it.

    • @LaalGarden
      @LaalGarden  6 лет назад

      This should be more than enough to grow Tomato. Tomato is one of the easiest plant to grow and will grow in almost any kind of soil or pot. I have grown many types of Tomato with least amount of care or planning. It is the easiest to grow.
