I always love your videos! I think ackies are definitely a great medium lizard too. You get all the brains of a monitor without the massive cage footprint and huge claws/teeth. I have two cohabed (😱😱 im sure someone will try to rip me for it) and they are amazing. I also have beardies and a northern bluie but the ackies have the most personality for sure
My nomination for the large category, something I wanted when I was a little kid ,a Komodo dragon, even if it was a crazy idea I was convinced I would get one when I was an adult.
I think you made good choices but I missed the following lizards. SMALL: - Rankin's dragon (pygmy bearded dragon): Smaller scale bearded dragon with similar personality that cohabits very well (they live in small groups in the wild) and unlike most gecko's is diurnal. To me this is the best small lizard, which is why I went for a pair of them. How could someone not like a smaller species of bearded dragon as a small lizard? 😁 - New Caledonian gecko's: crested, gargoyle, chewie etc. (very surprised these were not in the video). MEDIUM: - Ackie monitor (the best pet monitor lizard, how could it NOT be in this video? 😉) . - Australian water dragons (and probably Chinese ones as well). From what I've seen in video's the Australian water dragons in particular have great personalities, similar to bearded dragons. - Frilled dragon (Tilly is so cute). - Uromastyx The Australian Eastern water dragon is the medium lizard I would go for personally. Despite it needing quite a large enclosure with a water area. My second choice for a medium would be either an Ackie or a Frilly. Ackie would probably be the easiest of these to keep.
So for the micro list one that i would probably include is House Geckos. I have one of these personally. They only get up to 3-4" adult size. The care is pretty basic in my experience. Mid 70°-mid 80°F (Im american so i dont do that celsius stuff). Anywhere between 40-70% humidity. Little hides. Mine eats mostly mealworms with calcium dust with small crickets every so often or fruit flies if i have them. All that being said they dont like to be handled. I can pick mine up for maybe a minute or so before it jumps back off onto its log. Also they are very flighty. I dont see mine but maybe once or twice every other day or so. She spends most of her time under her log. All in all very easy to care for, but you might not see them too often and more than likely wont be able to handle them.
I don’t have a full list since I’m pretty new to keeping, but my Uromastyx is one of the best pets of any category I’ve had as a life-long mammal owner. Vegetarian, super hardy, super personable, and sturdy enough that my vet basically told me I was too gentle with him and could play harder with him 😂
Extra small: Oedura Monilis or Australian Ocellated gecko. Because they’re from Australia, they’re always captive bred. They’re pretty handle able for as small as they are. Their care is fairly simple once you get the right set up. Small. Nephrurus Millii. Super cute and docile knob tail. Medium: various uromastyx species like Ocellated, Mali, Ornate, Morraccan, Saharan, etc. While they need space, high temps and the UVB, once the set up is right they are very interactive. Mine act like puppies. The Ocellata babies I got last year were super skittish at first, but have figured out that I’m feeding them greens when I approach their enclosures and climb right up on my arms when I open the doors. I don’t have any extras large lizards, but various monitors and Tegus my friends have are super cute. I’ll give honorable mentions to New Caledonia geckos (cresties, Gargs, Chahouas, and Leachies). They are are super curious and my Chahouas and Leachies are spoiled.
I have a blue tegu and prefer them to the black and white or the red tegus. they don't get QUITE as big and prettier IMO, look like a black and white with the colors reversed (white with black markings) but in certain lighting (direct sunlight) the white has a sky blue hue to it. blues you can go with a 3x3x6 for an enclosure they're that much smaller, but still a good sized lizard.
I love my Chinese water dragon, something different than a bearded dragon, total different set up but there super friendly and love attention, mine do anyway
I want a Stenodactylus stenodactylus. I'm giving myself a year. Once my beardie's enclosure is done, her old one is becoming a desert for them! Then my 5+ year plan, after my kids are adults is a Rhino! My husband is already planning a Jerry Wolfe style outdoor enclosure!

@@WickensWickedReptiles totally! Mine had a preference of where ulyou were allowed to pick her up, she only allowed us to pick her up from the front so you had to go under her chin and gently pick up, she hated to be picked up from the sides and would bark but not bite 😂
The Tokay Geckos in my house are huge. There are two families and what appear to be a couple of exiles who stay by themselves. One of them talks to me a lot from the rafters above my bed. Like twice a day. Sort of checks in. I have two green iguanas, they live free in the house, there are places to climb with lamps up top and places they like to sleep, they go outside and bother the neighbour's and come home on their own. But that's alright in a small Asian village where everyone knows them. Water monitors are dangerous and unpredictable, unless you socialise them from infancy, and it's cruel to keep them inside the house. I know them intimately, I had a property on a river in Sumatra for about 15 years. They are cool lizards.
As an animal lover honestly I'm more ready for my first saltwater aquarium then a dog rn my sister takes care of my dog and I'm taking care of a carp some shiners 4 skinks and some green anoles a store was selling them as feeders
About butterfly agamas, I think they need a very large enclosure . Seeing the escaped populations in Miami they are very fast lizards so they like sailfish dragons they need "braking distance" when startled. So like some other wild caught lizards they don't know what glass is and will crash into the glass. They also dig burrows. About water monitors the biggest thing to be aware of is big lizards make big poops, and the best way to get them to do this is to clean their water bowl. So one thing to be aware of is you need to design the enclosure for an adult some easy way of changing so 50 or more gallons of water. Cleaning up after large monitors is not for feint of heart! One lizard that should get an honorble minim is the sheltopusik or European glass lizard. If somebody says no snakes but a lizard is OK. Not much on the colorful side but they are very hardy. The ones I had would eat thawed frozen mice and canned dog food. They are long lived with captive ones being recorded to have lived for 50 years.
By any chance do you have black milk snakes? I get mine on Thursday and I’m struggling to find videos on these guys. If so I would love to see a video of one! I love your content!

@insaneskate999 for king snakes the absolute minimum is 120 gallon as they are large snakes easily obtaining 4-5 foot lengths a 75 gallon just isn't big enough for them

Now its time for WWR to do the same, or at least mention them in video's like this. They need to be known. :) I have a pair of them and I love them so much. Same personality of a beardy but smaller size and they cohab very well because they are more social (they live in small groups in the wild). And unlike the gecko's that are always mentioned as small lizard pets (leopard, fat tail, new caledonians) they are day active so you can actually see them during the day. To me they are the perfect small lizard pet and I went specifically for this species.
You should do turtles for every size! This is Lucas’ exotics. I just changed my channel name again. So for mirco, stinkpots would be the best. Some other mud and musk turtles would be good too. For small, painted turtles and North America box turtles. For medium, sliders, cooters, and map turtles. For large, softshell turtles and common snapping turtles. And for huge get an alligator snapping turtle or fly river turtles.
I have always wanted a Tegu my husband will not allow a reptile roommate of that size or snakes I think he might give on the snake with my son wants one but we're holding off until he's comfortable with feeding I have a pretty firm rule if you want a pet you have to be able to feed it yourself but yeah I've always wanted like a dedicated room to a Tegu I had a friend who had one and every time he would bring her to work it was such a joy she was beautiful she loved quail eggs

Interesting information. :)
Thanks for watching!
@@WickensWickedReptiles You are welcome. I love this type of video.
For a small lizard theres a species called thick tailed gecko and its bigger red chinese cave gecko

I have a juvenile Indonesian Sailfin Dragon named MILO . The intelligence and Trust is amazing and yes, you need a lot of space.
Thank you for everything I want to buy a lizard and I see all of them and the best one for me might be the leopard geco
I rescued my butterfly agama I would say wait to have at least some intermediate experience with lizard before getting one they’re a bit tricky
CRESTED GECKO ON TOP🔥🔥🔥🔥🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🥶
I have always wanted a Tegu my husband will not allow a reptile roommate of that size or snakes I think he might give on the snake with my son wants one but we're holding off until he's comfortable with feeding I have a pretty firm rule if you want a pet you have to be able to feed it yourself but yeah I've always wanted like a dedicated room to a Tegu I had a friend who had one and every time he would bring her to work it was such a joy she was beautiful she loved quail eggs
yooo how u been adam? I have got a question, I also live in southern ontario and i was wondering where i could pick up a leopard gecko aswell as an enclosure aswell as substrate hides insects etc. I do want to build a nice enclosure but not bioactive, probably like a 40 gallon. Thanks and love the content🎉

Glad it was helpful!
I’m surprised you didn’t mention Savannah monitors
oh for sure hahahaha
They need a lot of room, have a really hot basking spot and have some health issues so they are not good pets for most people
Aww, cresties arent on the list. Im getting my second next month and the one i have now is so fun
I also have a beardie who’s also very goofy
What’s a good way to gain experince working with a caiman or sailfin dragon?
find a collection that has one and volunteer or work there
