The Apple Pencil 2nd generation is for the iPad pros. The Apple Pencil 1st gensration is for the ipad and the iPad mini. There’s a difference.
It doesnt matter it works with all of them i got the Air 4 and 2nd gen apple pencil

The difference between Apple Pencil first gen and second is that if u buy any of the more expensive iPads it only works with the second gen and if u buy more of the older iPads u can only use first gen
The difference between the Apple Pencil gen 1 and gen 2 is that the gen 2 is only compatible with higher models of iPad and the first gen is compatible with the lower models for example i have the i pad air gen 4 and its only compatible with the sec gen Apple Pencil

1st gen apple pencil only works with 6th gen and up ipad models (at the time of writing this the only other one is 7th gen) and 2nd gen only works with ipad pro 2018. Also, 1st gen apple pencil dosent work with the ipad pro 2018 because the 1st gen charges by plugging it in the charging port of the ipad with a lightning connecter but the ipad pro has a usb c port so it can plug in, while the 2nd gen pencil can only work with 2018 pro because it has magnets on the side and charges through wireless connection.

The Apple Pencil first generation can be used for iPad mini,iPad Air, normal iPad. But the pro has a separate Apple Pencil which is the generation 2. The second generation Apple Pencil cannot be used with the other iPads

The first generation Apple Pencil only works on older iPads and the second works on newer iPad’s. The second generation has touch control and 3D sensors so when you press harder the line is thicker and when you don’t press as much the line is thinner
The first gen also has pressure sensitivity.

The difference between both Apple Pencils is that they are for different iPads Ned the first generation charges by sticking out of the iPad and the second generation charges next to the iPad since it’s magnetic.
The difference for the 1st and 2nd Apple Pencil is the 2nd pencil is more powerful and cooler then the 1st and the 2nd is for the iPad Pro and I have the iPad Pro alone with the pencil and track pad and magic keyboard case
I have the iPad 2018 modal and that only works with Apple Pencil 1st generation. Almost every iPad that is being sold right now only works with the 1st generation apple except last years iPad Pro which is the modal out now that works with second generation Apple Pencil

so you got it confused the apple pencil 1st gen works on most ipads and when you want to charge it you take the cap off and plug it in the ipad but in the apple pencil 2nd gen it wors on the newer ipads that came out and if you want to charge it, it charges magneticlly on the side if the ipad. thank you.
