    ABOUT ME
Hey there, I’m Jenna! A Canadian Expat living in Germany since 2014. 🇩🇪
Like many, I had a difficult time relocating - all the paperwork, finding a flat, a phone plan, a job, etc. So, I took it slowly and documented all my adventures along the way so that years down the road, I could help others avoid making the same mistakes I did. Let’s look at it as… PAVING THE WAY FOR NEW EXPATS TO SAVE TIME & MONEY!
I built up www.lifeinduesseldorf.com to help expats make the best out of their lives in Düsseldorf, and then soon realized a lot of the content I was sharing was helpful for ALL expats living in Germany. SO I BUILT AN ONLINE PROGRAM THAT HELPS EXPATS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD RELOCATE EASILY WHILE SAVING THOUSANDS OF EUROS!
... and now I’m bringing it all to RUclips! ♥️

Getting cash from an ATM with a VISA card and doing a cash deposit afterwards?
I used a VISA card from my German Bank in the UK. So I know that trhere are many ATMs that you can use without a fee.
The exchange rate can change from bank to bank if you has to change the currencies.
I am not familar with the conditions you get on the VISA card in other countries but I assume that you can use at least also the ATMs from banks that have partnership with VISA for free.
But this would just work for smaller amounts I guess as you are limited on the money you can get out of an ATM per day and I think the bank will also asked questions when you come in for days and deposit 1,000 EUR each time.

Visa usually charges for converting from one currency to another. Noticed that in Switzerland.

This was actually what I used to do for the first two years of moving until I realized how much money I was actually throwing away in fees from both the bank and the atm machines 😩 ... I then decided to send it over in big chunks with an online transfer service rather

Hmm, OK. I only know that it was for me the cheapest way to get money in the UK.
But it is maybe very depending on the actual credit card and bank it is from.
      This is what Visa advertises.
The card has usually a symbol to which network of banks it belongs like Cash Group or Maestro and you can get the money there for free.
But you bank may have other conditions and is in another network.

Hi , do you think I could make a decent living in a German city like Frankfurt as a insurance and financial securities agent? By the way I love your videos , they are very informative and I hope you and your family are doing well.😎

      Thanks Nevik 🙂
That’s a good question! Actually - if you don’t mind navigating in German, there’s a website when you actually fill out a detailed online questionnaire to determine how much you would likely make in that field based on your level of experience, background, etc.
      It’s called GEHALT: bit.ly/gehalt-de
This might help a bit as Qi don’t know many people in the financial security sector. However, I do know that the opportunities online for insurance recommendations are endless, so it’s also one that you could potentially do while working from home here in Germany!

Hi, do you know which German bank has no fees to join and would let you exchange USD in person? Or have the lowest exchange rate? (In-person)

I would suggest going with one of the mobile banks! But if you want an in-person bank, I believe they all have fees per month and all have quite high exchange rates.
I know that doesn’t help much! But it’s going to cost you quite a bit.
My alternative suggestion would be to go to a Deutsche Bundesbank - here they actually exchange coins into bills or sent to your IBAN, exchange foreign money into cash (euros) or deposit to a European bank, and much more!
At the moment, my favorite bank is Vivid Bank: bit.ly/vividbanking
I just opened an acct last week as it’s an amazing competitor to N26 with a ton more features! I’ll probably make a video about my experience soon!
      Hope this all helps!
