    Depending on the Airbnb host, they are willing to give Wohnungsgeberbestätigung with the format used by the local city. My host was kind enough to give one as PDF, then I did the corrections afterwards.
    Edit: You need to have your Airbnb booking as a long stay (e.g. 1 month, 6 weeks) so that the host has justification to give you a Wohnungsgeberbestätigung. Short stays will be perceived as "not Anmeldung-worthy" since you are not concerned with the succeeding documents that requires long-stay address.

    My personal experience: It was really hard to find an apartment here in Düsseldorf. It took me a week to find a proper one. Then when I wanted to get an appointment (online) from the city office it took me another 5 days. Because all the time-slots were filled. However they have a system where they will send you a notification when there’s an open time-slot (it is pretty helpful). When you have your appointment don’t show up too early. It’s enough to be there at 15 minutes early. Because the checkin system will reject your checkin request if you are too early. (Lol I had to wait extra 20 minutes to make the checkin). The staff were very kind and helpful. Even helped me with some corrections in the application. Just took me 10 minutes. Pro tip: Don’t be selective when you select your city registration office location. And I experienced that, there are more time-slot options available when you make your online appointment in the early morning. ;) Good luck!

    I'd like to clarify something about AirBnBs and the Certificate of Residence. If you are a foreigner and you just moved to Germany, the landlord HAS to provide the certificate, as per § 19 al. 2 BMG. AirBnB, Wünderflats and any other services might say what they like, but that's the law. Of course, it's better to find a place where you initially agreed on getting the certificate, but in case that doesn't happen, you should notify it (§ 54 Abs. 3 BMG) and you can even apply legal action. I strongly recommend using a service like Advocado to talk to a lawyer about any issues that might occur about this, as at the very end it's what the law says what you can rely on. In cases like Berlin, it's even very common to pay WAY MORE than the maximum rent, that can also be solved legally.

    There are very few people who makes relocation to Germany less painfull than it is: Those two ladies should be received by the government entities and recognized for the work they do to explain the A and B that are not really straitforward ....along with my banker who was very helpful !
    Ladies....we need to have a RUclips post targeting the government about potential automations ,here are few example:
    1- tax number to be accessible online
    2-remove the bloody shufa ..this only exist in Germany
    3- anmeldung online
    4-all handled through emails
    5- Bank account can be opened without anmeldung

My temporary residence permit expires 1 month after I deliver. The company my husband worked for informed us we need to de register myself in Nuremberg for me to re-apply for my visa to come back. however since I’m not in Germany, my husband does not have my passport or my residence permit to take to the appointment. Will this be an issue or will a copy be sufficient?

I'm thinking I'm gonna get a Zwischenmiete's room by wggesucht for say 3 months in Lepzig. My first question is, would landlord give me "Wohnungsgeberbestätigung" if it's only for 3 months (and it's Zwischenmiete)? 2nd question, do you usually sign a Vermitungsvertrag if you move in for Zwischenmiete? If I don't have a german bank account by then, how would I pay my landlord (would paypal transfer do?)

      N26 closed their services in the US in January 2022. However, if you are a US citizen residing in Germany, you can open an N26 bank account in Germany. I contacted N26 customer support and they have confirmed that in Germany someone with a US passport may open an account. The list of accepted documents in Germany at the moment can be found here: docs.n26.com/cs/Support%20Center/id-docs/de/iddocs-de-en.pdf

      Hey Tomas, as we write in our guide: www.simplegermany.com/anmeldung-germany/#Step_2_Gather_the_documents_for_the_Anmeldung_in_Germany --> If you are moving with your family of up to four, it is enough if one person does the Anmeldung. You need to bring the family member’s original passports and original birth certificates, as well as their official translated version. Hope this helps 😊

  • @briankelly2050
    @briankelly2050 3 года назад +3

    Firstly, great videos, no nonsense and straight to the point.
    My question : you mentioned that if you are married only one of you (not the whole family) needs to go to the registration office do the anmeldung. If your wife is a full time mom/housewife and you want to submit tax claims using category III and V to reduce tax, the wife will need a tax ID. Will this be issued for her even if she doesn’t go to the registration office? Also, is the TAX ID number and Social Security number issued after completing anmeldung (is it the offspring of the process) ? Many thanks !

    • @simplegermany
      @simplegermany  3 года назад +1

      Hey Brian 😊 So if only one of you goes to the registration, you need to carry all original documents (passports etc) from your entire family with you and register all members of your family, so all of your family members should receive their tax ID via postal mail a few weeks later. As far as we know, when you have tax class III and V, you have to file a tax declaration together. The Social Security Number does not get issued automatically through the Anmeldung, but rather through your health insurance or employer, depending on how you are insured. You can find more details in our three guides on the topics: www.simplegermany.com/tax-number-germany/ - www.simplegermany.com/tax-class-germany/ - www.simplegermany.com/social-security-number-germany/. Yes, now that you mention it I think I was issued the social security number when I received a confirmation of health insurance from TK… it was on their letter of acceptance. I will move to G in August and start work shortly after so all your advice is much appreciated. Thanks again.

    Hey guys! I have another question: If you have to do your anmeldung 2 weeks after arriving in Germany, can you use the hotel's address if they say you can send letters there, or should the hotel specify that anmeldung would be possible?

    • @simplegermany
      @simplegermany  2 года назад

      You would need the Wohnungsgeberbestätigung from the hotel, which is quite rare that they give you one. If they do in your case, fantastic. Otherwise, we recommend looking for short-term rentals that allow the Anmeldung with the flat.

    Hi! I'm moving to Berlin in January and will subrent a room in an appartment. The woman I'm renting from (the main tenent) and I have signed a subrental contract agreement that specifies my stay, detailes about the appartment, rent etc. My question is, will this suffice as Wohnungsgeberbestätigung? Even though it's not signed directly by the landlord? He is informed of the sublet however. Grateful for reply!

      You need the specific form for the Wohnungsgeberbescheinigung, it can't just be a generally written up agreement. We hope your move will go smoothly 😊

    What documents are needed when one changes apartments in Germany?
    A new form from the new landlord? Or something else from the previous landlord as well?

    • @simplegermany

      For the re-registration just a new form from the new landlord. If you leave Germany for good, a form from the current landlord. We also have a video on how to move within Germany, as there are a few more things to do: ruclips.net/video/p8I9jx4mKNc/видео.html

    Thanks for the video. Regarding tax bracket during registration. What if I'm married and my family will just follow in the next month (or within a month). Can I put on the civil status Married? Or I am still Single since they are not there yet during my first registration? Follow-up question is, if I need to put Single initially, once they arrive, do I need to re-register? Any tips? Thank you. Again, very helpful video. :)

    • @simplegermany
      @simplegermany  2 года назад +2

      You should put married, as you are married regardless of where your family is. You should have your marriage certificate with you (also the translated version), we speak about it here: www.simplegermany.com/anmeldung-germany/#Step_2_Gather_the_documents_for_the_Anmeldung_in_Germany
      However, most likely, you will be listed in tax class 1 first and will need to ask to change the tax class, once your family is in Germany as well. We speak about it hear: www.simplegermany.com/tax-class-germany/

The Wohnungsgeberbestaetigung, right?

      Usually it should be after 3 months or more, as that is the time after which you need to register.

    Hello! I love your videos and I’m from Honduras, I’m moving to Nürnberg in July! I have a question, Hondurans have an advantage that we can enter Germany without a visa for 90 days, that would be my plan and apply for a Sprachvisum afterwards, my question is, can i do the ANMELDUNG without a visa? Or is a must to have the Visa for the anmeldung?

    • @simplegermany

      You can do the Anmeldung without a visa, as long as you intend to stay longer than 90 days 😊 Just bear in mind to apply for your visa/residence permit in time, as you only have 90 days to stay without one. All the best for your move 😊

    As far as banking I see there is a bank of America branch in Dusseldorf. I get money from my military service that will continue after I relocate there. Would that work for me to make the transfer easier?

    • @simplegermany

      We would assume that the transfer would remain in USD. But then you would still need a German bank account or a service like Wise to convert the USD. Why don’t you speak to Bank of America and ask them what there services in Germany are?

      That highly depends on the mood of your case worker. If you only fill it there, it could be interpreted as you wasting their time. You can print it at any copy & print shop in your neighborhood or at your office, if you are working already.
