From this GUYS' INTENSIVE REPAIR EFFORT, I WILL SKIP THE TEAR-DOWN, TRY SOME LUBRICANT ON THE GEARS IF ACCESSIBLE. I HAVE ALREADY USED AXLE GREACE ON THE HOSE WORM SCREW. NEXT IS TO JUNK IT AND GET A HANDWINDER MODEL.
Mine was not reeling in. Without even unscrewing anything, I used some aerosol silicone spray with a spray tube to lube up all the gears that I could see. There was an immediate improvement and I was able to reel in. Time will tell how long it will continue to work.
You could have removed the hose instead of the gear. Turned the mechanism where you needed it and then reattached the hose. Otherwise thanks for the info.

Did you get it working?
I did, it works like new.
It is a high maintenance piece of junk.
