    Works!
    I called Suncast to replace (under warranty) parts and they would not replace anything without a store receipt...even under warranty!
    This hack works!
    IN YOUR FACE, SUNCAST!!

    Awesome idea. I was going to throw out our broken (2yrs old) reel but thought of fixing it to save 50$. Thank you

    Nice video. I just ordered the correct replacement part from suncast for $8.
    Your video was helpful as to how to get it apart

    omg thank you! The flaky, cheap, aluminum spigot just snapped on mine, but this solution will fix mine.

    Good idea - thank you.
    Just FYI to others: If your suncast hose reel is only leaking fom the center slip joint (and isnt otherwise broken) you probably only need to replace the two internal o-rings which cost about $1-2 each and can be had at any decent hardware store.

    Way to go! I found the replacement "in and out tube repair kit" online - for $49 to $85! Not gonna do that, duh. That leaves a hack and this one looks promising.

    I thought I would take my exact reel apart and fix the leak but the part with the o'rings would not snap back in correctly and pop out with water pressure. So I thought it was junk until I saw this video.I used a hacksaw blade to cut out places for hose to go in and sanded the edges.The quick connector worked perfect and I'm back in business with no leaks😀.A little vaseline on the o'ring and connector area won't hurt.Thanks for the ingenuity Hack Man! 😀

    Perfect!. This is the best solution and best video of the many I watched. This was my initial thought after determining my SunCast reel is older than any in the other videos and parts are not available even on zbay. Was out of options and about to just fix it somehow by Redneckory, then watched one more video , this one. Thanks!. Macgyver, Redneckory, and Hack Man are this landlords heroes!. Winning!

    I tried this today and it worked perfectly. Inexpensive repair and easy to do! Thank you. I had to add a little plumbers tape to seal the connections better but that's it. My only worry is over the long term if the rubber seal on the adapter will wear down and eventually leak or become harder to turn.. Do you think applying some type of lubrication around the rubber piece will help? If so, what do you recommend and do we put it on the black rubber washer around the adapter? I've heard vegetable oil is good to use (a safe product since you might drink the water from the hose).

    • @hackman4330
      @hackman4330  3 года назад

      I'm not using any oil... Time will tell how it holds up!

    • @stevenmitchell6885
      @stevenmitchell6885 3 года назад

      @@hackman4330 I guess. It works great now so don't want to mess with it. If it lasts a while for another $9.99 i can just replace the adapter with a new one. Again thanks for the fix.

    Great idea but the quick fit conector is not design for coninuous rotation, I actually use a brass swivel fiting from another brand and adaped it to this model, is a bit more expensive but it rotates better and last longer compared to plastic.

  • @CENTAUR559
    @CENTAUR559 3 года назад +1

    Are those plastic quick connectors better to use for this purpose than the metal ones? I have metal ones and wanted to know if the metal might have more friction and not allow it to rotate than these plastic ones i've been seeing.

    • @hackman4330
      @hackman4330  3 года назад +1

      Metal ones would probably have a bit more friction. But I'd try it anyway and see how it works... It might be okay.

    Do all quick connect fitting allow for spin like this? What brand did you use?

    • @hackman4330

    The part you need is less than $10 directly from Suncast. Why go through all that trouble for a hack when you can fix it in five minutes once your part arrives.

      Either the quick connector isn't clipped all the way in.. or a bad connector?
