- When it comes to electric SUV's from BMW, the most popular is undoubtedly the iX. But its smaller sibling, the iX3 is equally as capable. It has a range of over 430km's on paper, but we all know that it is almost impossible to reach that range in the real world.
So we tried to put it to the test with a drive from Damansara to Penang, a distance of about 350km. Now that should be manageable, but lets not forget that there are mountain ranges in between and managing a highway speed of between 110kmh to 120kmh is going to drain the battery quickly.
So how did it? Watch to find out.

Your comment on the WLTP range of the iX3 (11:00) of about 350-380km is incorrect. The iX3 has a 461km WLTP range, on paper. 🙂
Thanks for the video.
Wish you would have stated what was your average speed driven as EVs are extremely sensitive on driving speed especially on highways.
Based on your driving data, a distance of 330km traveled in 4:17 hours equates about an average speed of 77km/h.
At such low speed i dont believe its a fair representation of a typical highway drive.
Hi, thanks for the feedback. Think I did mention that we were sticking to the highway speed limit of 110km/h. And just to share, that whenever we touched a constant 120km/h, we lost a range of about 20km. You're right that EVs are very sensitive to cruising speed.
