  • This was one of those trips that kayak fishing dreams are made of. We have plenty of big snapper, kingfish and even john dory coming on board. This was a mission to remember!

    Some really nice fish caught Greg! Unfortunately once the ass blows out on those beaut of snapper, they're a done deal. Might pay to do some further investigation on that one. Looking forward to the next vid. P.S package on its way...

      Seems like that's the general consensus on the blown snappers. I always thought if they could swim off then they're good to go. Guess my hopes to release them might have just been wishful thinking! Will do some research on it anyway.
      Looking forward to the delivery 😉

    Looks like ya need a needle/something to deflate the swim bladders when they blow up like that mate!

    • @thor_6886
      @thor_6886 Год назад

      I was going to comment on that. The research I've seen is that situation with the intestine hanging out the rear is likely fatal, an internal injury way beyond the swim bladder issue.

    • @gpfishingadventures7834
      @gpfishingadventures7834  Год назад

      Yeah I carry a needle onboard. Didn't really think about using it as they all went down. May help relieve some extra pressure though I guess! Will try and remember for next time 🤙🏽

    Nice Greg. Good on ya. You put the hard yards in and you get the rewards. Re the needle...i also read somewhere that although you get a 'feel good moment' it actually doesnt make a difference as the damage is irreversible. Whst rod and reel combo are,you using? Loos very effective

      Thanks Rob. This was that day we were in the same neck of the woods. Yeah I need to do some research into whether its worth releasing those fish that are that blown.
      Currently using the Penn Fathom II 25NLD on a Penn Battalion 250-400g rated slow pitch jigging rod. 40lb Slammer braid, but I'm considering going down to 30lb for the deeper stuff.

    How's the stability of this kayak compared to the profish? Does that higher seat cause any issues?

    • @gpfishingadventures7834
      @gpfishingadventures7834  Год назад

      I found my Profish 440 generally more stable. The high seat in the PDL throws off the centre of gravity. But you get used to the stability of the PDL pretty quickly. It's not really an issue for me.
