You go for it Robin. Modifications to any set are permitted 😂, it's lego! Just remember, any work if art is never truly finished, they're just abandoned 😂.
Next Brick haul video from Ikea! Love it.... guess you can put one of those storage boxes the do in partnership with Lego, just to keep it 'official' 😂😂😂😂
Robin, just put in a little Lego order for you this morning! Something I’ve been wanting to get for the channel for months. I like the idea of the guarded inn turret, and putting together ikea furniture is half of RUclips, so why not do a video! We’re easily entertained
Great haul. Your videos extends my own part knowledge any time, thank you! About the guarded in, I´m okay with closing the building from behind. So it looks nice from all angles. But if you really need a proper way to the tower, I would prefer to place nice old hinge or maybe a printed plate on the bottom, to mimic a roof hatch. A full extended way with outside stairs, ladder, or a catwalk is to much imho. But in the end, do what you like at most. Thanks!
I’d love to see a video about your system for organising your LEGO parts and one about building and modifying your IKEA tables would be nice as well. Of course modifying a set to fit in your city is fine, that’s the spirit of LEGO. I do it as well, I just done an upgrade of the 7715 train set to have a diesel locomotive that used a powered up motor for my city. I move everything off baseplates onto 16x16 plates so I don’t have problems connecting to the new road system. I sometimes scale sets up or down to better fit in my city.
Remember a baseplate sat on spare plates is the same height as a new road plate or two plates, as shown in my guide video. Helps get them a little higher too!
@@BrickHaulOClock yes, I know. I watched so many RUclips videos before I decided to switch over. However I also like that it allows me to make my city compacter and I already had quite a few sets that were sitting on plates (city or creator) anyway. I’m really happy with my system and that’s the most important thing.
I might be biased but I fully support modification of sets. That’s one of the main reasons we love this hobby. If were not satisfied with the build, we can always improve on it. 😊
Yes Robin! Open back building should be completed and if you can do it with period correct pieces then all the better. Build stairs that weren't there that should be and use those interesting pieces!!!
*RH* The race car and transport truck set that you got - the race team depicted is also on one of the two go-karts in set *60400 “Go-Carts and Race Drivers”* . The other go-kart in that set belongs to the race team from set *60151 “Dragster Transport”*
Also on the box of the race car and transport set, in the top right corner of the artwork is a green & orange sign that’s blurred. That sign is the branding of the race car in set *# 60399 “Race Car”*
yeah, I had Firebreathing Fortress as my big christmas gift one year. Was probably 5 or 6 based on its release. It had a cool trapdoor feature too! I loved the dragon, such a classic piece.
Great Brick hall o’clock ! Great you got more train tracks, I think you need more. 🤔 The castle 🏰 horse gold armour looks good.👍 Recreating the old castle inn set I don’t think is a problem at all at that time they didn’t have the pieces so an upgrade works. When you take old set and update that’s RHB building! So definitely add as much as you can. Also the insides of the old sets are often empty! JJ F
All very true. It's amazing how much more stuff I need for this room. Tables, track. It looks bigger but I think it's actually substantially bigger in reality!
I like the intention to update a old Lego set but I must ask what about a ladder to go up the tower' it could save space for decor or it could also not turn this idea to be a bulky mess.
I never understood why the set should stay as the instructions dictate. The early Lego sets, up until I believe 1999 or early 2000, showed alternate builds without instructions to help show what was possible. It was there to spark the idea in your head to think about the bricks differently. To show some options but to leave it up to the individual to figure it out. I miss that aspect. I want to bring that back to the forefront again.
Make whatever modifications you want, Robin. First of all, isn't that the fun of Lego? You get inspired by something and put your own spin on it. Secondly, let's be honest. Your modifications are amazing. I am sure you'll make the original design 'even better'....
I bought a lot with alot of 90s lego back in october, and found 2 horse armor pieces, one was worth just 75 kr (around 7 £), and another that was worrh about 300 kr (30 £) in good condition, being almost mint they will be kept safe from other bricks😊
@@BrickHaulOClock I also got alot of 60s-70s Lego with boxes in the same lot, and instructions stored in a vintage Nesquik box, that was worth around 500 kr (50£)😊
If anyonr thinks you should only build sets exactly like the instructions, I would say they have missed the point of Lego. I build sets once according to the instructions, but while I have a few MOCs most of my sets now are modified (usually improved) versions of official sets. By all means add stairs and round out the guard post on the roof. Lego often tends to ignore the need for minfigures to have stairs to be able to access upper floors I look forward to seeing your version
Robin l have the guarded Inn, I have modified the battlements with inward sloping bricks. Its always baffled me that its an inn but nowhere for the visiting black falcon Knight to sleep.
Its me, I buy the arches at 3-4$. I have 11 in a sith temple moc I am currently working on. I have paired it with a beautiful dragon print glass piece from a ninjago temple.
Hey Robin, cool additions to your growing 2.0 collection. Is the Alien Conquest mother ship made with some type of track pieces for the circle shape? They look narrow, are they monorail size??? As to the question of modifying an old set, I see no problem with that at all. The whole point of Lego is….to be creative, inventive and to have “fun”. You have added floors to buildings, put a casino in a department store, etc. I have had some of my most favourite Lego moments modifying and “improving “ original designs that just seemed a bit “unfinished”. Carry on good sir, public opinion be da - - - 🙃
Very true but I just saw that set as an iconic one. The track is narrow gauge track. Six studs wide rather than eight. It was on a few sets like the Batman Funhouse and even had height changes!
It's not controversial to modify sets in that way it's your city and it is ment to be built the way you want that's the whole point of lego is you to take their idea and expand it
Can you refresh me on your position on non-Lego items? I know you're not a fan of non Lego bricks, but what about custom window inserts, custom printed Lego bricks, and such?
I'm ok in theory. I don't go there personally because I'd be bankrupt fairly quickly. Where would I stop? I do have custom printed wanted signs, glass and Boaty McBoatface tiles already and I'm very happy to include them!
@@BrickHaulOClock Excellent. Thank you. I saw some interesting customs that would go great in your castle in Brick Nottingham 2.0 and am considering sending them to you as a thank you.

I didn't think that would be in demand, haha!

Good to hear and excited to receive your package. Thanks!
Nice haul. The rail sign with the scratch can be used for a scene with a graffiti kid! You could put a portal in the turret the way in and out! 🎉
Haha, a pair of portals to solve an access issue. Priceless!

My plan was simple steps in amongst the roof tiles from the main wall, then a quick hop over into the crenulated turret!
IKEA VIDEO! YES!
I'm surprised but ok I guess!
That golden horse head would feature greatly as an architectural decoration in a neo classic building.
I saw a whole golden chariot on a real life roof near Leicester Square. Maybe I'll do that!

You're very eagle eyed!
Modify the set can't wait to see what you do 😁
It'll be similar. I want it instantly recognisable!
I say go for it. If you don’t like it afterwards, you can always disassemble the set and do it the way it originally came.
Very true!

If you do have the person in Flumox’s robes as someone of religion, Nute Gunray’s hat in dark red would look rather good with the outfit.
I've got him on the list as his robes are also pretty useful. Just need to lose the head!
Those parts can be swapped onto someone in the cantina. Might as well get your moneys worth.
Tike laps of building the tables please 😊
I don't know about that. If it's hot I'll be sweating!
