Some simple things like cooking more and bigger things like getting my g2 again (canadian) and BUYING A CAR. 13 /24 things are ✔️ DONE on my vision board and I'm already dreaming bigger for next years vision board. I mean, who are the five best rappers of all time? (counting on his fingers) Dylan: Dylan... Dylan... Dylan, Dylan, and Dylan. Because I spit hot fire. What you wrote is pronounced Die lawn
It’s a shame you didn’t get to show him the surprise how you planned… but now atleast you get to enjoy the rebuild with Danny and see him smile all day long 😊
*LOVE* to see you getting into doing something with an LS. An "LS swap" has almost become cliché (in a good way), but it's because they fit in so many things and they're just.... so.... good. Simple, plentiful, easy to find parts, can make gobs of broad power N/A or even more with some extra PSI. The LS3 has been acknowledged by some of GM's engineers as perhaps their best LS engine. For being a 6.2, they're not physically huge. Don't let a mishap with a seller scare you away from them. You're a real one for doing this for Danny!
Honestly LS's seem super straightforward to work on and a fresh motor will be fantastic for Danny, his reaction was priceless! excited to see you guys tear into that and freshen it up. cool to see you do this! i totally want to do this build in my NB miata! Holly EXU's are just sooo good and easy to work with.
Even though you had some setbacks on the LS, it's still a great thing to have thought of doing something big for your buddy. Congrats to Danny and hope to see him turn some wrench with you, Dillon and the one and only Kuya Calvin on his sweet new setup.
I mentioned this to one of lz’s employees when he built the ls3 for his moms solstice, those factory ls3 timing chain tensioners are junk and known for going bad. Looks like you might be able to get by with just cleaning the block and replacing with the ls2 timing chain tensioner and a new chain (checking bearings as well of course)
What you are doing is still fantastic, you will fix him up. It's only time, which I'm sure you don't have much of, but we will enjoy watching the rebuild for sure, bud.
That man definitely loved his turbo setup and From a turbo miata owner, I can say he wasn’t thrilled about it. Then he got over it. That V8 will give him more smiles, he just doesn’t know yet
Yup U can do alot of upgrades with an ls3 there is this other channel I watch his channel name is myke myke and he has a Nissan 350 z with a ls3 and its supercharged I forget the name of the supercharger and he got a Chevy corvette c6 that comes with a ls3 and he supercharged it and he has corvette c5 with a built 402 block and now he's building an infinite sedan with a ls3 as well
Finally LS build hope you fall in love with it & build an LS3 or LS7 slap it in the brz what you needa do. I drive a FBO cammed 🍿LS3 G8 GT I’m EXCITED for this build series !
The shavings in the oil are relatively normal in a fresh engine during the break in period. The silver stuff COULD be assembly lube if the oil wasn’t changed more than twice since being built. The timing chain guide thing is weird but look at the cylinder walls and bearings for good measure. Good luck!
be cool to see Danny help with the final part of the rebuild and include the rebuilding of the engine and if your rebuilding it at least you can make it robust enough to handle limiter
Sorry to hear about the LS3 swop but it going to be amazing when it's done and danny will be really really happy with what u have done for him 😀.....fantastic idea
Probably assembly lube from ARP stuff, and some natural break-in wear. I put built LME engines in at least once a month and that is very close to what is seen after the first oil change after dyno time. Tensioner broken is definitely a concern but throw a dogbone in there and send it!!
I think someone over at McFarland Racing might know a thing or two about LS rebuilds that could help you out. . That sucks though on the material in the pan, but you all were meant to find this out before firing up due to having to remove the pan etc. Also all the parts can be found at Orielly's/Napa/AutoZone and are normally in-stock since the LS is the B/K-series of V8's.
TJ Hunt Awesome Video I think it's awesome that you bought that LS3 for Dannys Miata and I'm sorry to hear that it has damage and I can't wait to see the teardown and rebuild
That really sucks that you got scammed. People suck but it's amazing what you're doing for your friend. Can't wait to see this Miata rip! Hell yeah brother!!!
yo atleast danny gets to be apart of the build now and put some work in too so he feels like he deserves to drive a car he helped build too instead of a hand out type of feeling most of us gear heads feel when someone else does out mechanical work!
Danny is such a good dude. You can tell he trust and loves you like a true brother. He is in shock, but you can see the evil smile he has thinking of 525 crank hp! 😂😂❤
This is gonna be an amazing series honestly this takes me back to when you would build your brz!! I know Ls swaps are so common on RUclips but to see you guys do it, it’s gonna be a good series to watch
A built LS Miata is going to be nutty bro. Ive got a 2012 ZL1 Camaro making 812hp and its wild in a 4000lb car. lol A good NA 450-500whp build in a Miata will be a riot.
Hey TJ idk if you guys touched the cam bolt or the oil pump torx bolts but they definitely have tooling marks.. which would be a big give away, that it has been gone thru, and checked out. Unfortunately leading to thinking it was actually a scam, and they knew about it.
That timing chain tensioner/guide failed on mine too. Bought the car like that, and found out when i was doing a cam swap and DOD delete. I ended up putting an LS3 timing chain guide/dampener. Motor has had a knock since i bought it. I've been running it for years with a slight knock. Stresses me out every time i drive it, lol.
