Watching that clip from mass effect when they are bringing Shepard's back to life. I'd like to see a video on what was involved in that process. And a great video as always!
I was already immersed in your talks when that clip of the Nanosuit showed up. I felt a chill run down my spine. As for prosthetics, I'm quite confident that we'll see improvements and refinements quite soon. Technology has been upgrading itself at quite a fast rate
Wow, you sound like the real life David Sarif on this subject. I have long since been attracted by the concet of Transhumanism, despite not fully embracing the whole philosophy, I have a lot of ideas around it, and this comes from someone who has a disability in the medical sense, ever since I was young, the fiction I loved to watch, read, play, and write about involve cybernetic augmentations, Deus Ex Human Revolution, Metal Gear Solid, Mass Effect, and other things I have forgotten on short notice. Now the reason why I haven't fully embraced the whole philosophy, is while technology is getting further than we can see, accelerating at a greater speed, our understanding of ethics and morality, for the most part, has been slowed. There's still a lot who fear the idea of cybernetics under the beiefs of very valid concerns. Some I even share: 1: Technology is not any more good or evil than the ones using it, so there needs to be a lot of ethics going into advancement. Do we want to become Cerberus and Bob Page in seeking the advancements of technologies? Or someone with a great respect, logic, and empathy for the human race? Do we want these technologies to be for the betterment of mankind, or the betterment of a small few? 2: How far should cybernetic augmentations go? Do we want to become so far that we lose our humanity? At what cost? What of our individuality, our humanity? Losing the very core of our species humanity and meaning is why i'm not fully onboard with Transhumanism. It's a part of a complex worldview of mine though. 3: Do you want to create a Society like in Deus Ex? What of personal freedom and who gets to decide? How do we stop a sall few with power from becoming the only ones who get such technology, or using it for evil? These are good things to consider, as true cybernetic augmentations are around the corner, and I love cybernetics and augmenting the human condition, but along the way, we should not lose our humanity itself along the way. What it means to be human. I believe that some biological, cultural and technological advancement should be human, and not Borg. We need great minds, but we should not become ONI, Cerberus, Bob Page, or The Patriots of Meal Gear Solid along the way. Our Humanity should remain. It's why i'm a supporter of the David Sarif philosophy, but blended with one of restraint so that Society and culture can handle the harder questions too.
The issue with cybernetics right now is how we wire them to us. Our body functions on a mix of both mechanical and electrical signals to function and so we need the cybernetics to connect to these points as well to be as functional. Unfortunately that's nearly impossible. The electrical signals are fairly possible but the mechanical ones are the issue. Move your finger and you can feel your nerve move all the way up your arm. That's one thing that's basically impossible to replicate as the motion is caused by the mussels surrounding the nerve to move it and the electrical signal functions in tandem to make the function go through. In theory we can just wire straight up to the electrical impulses, but the big question is does that work better where you replaced the limb or straight at the brain. Is it easier to find the neurons in the brain or the connection points in the limb, which is more reliable, and which is easier. As of right now, we are being conservative with our moves as we are cautious of scaring people off of it. Kill someone by going into the deep end of inserting chips in the brain too quickly and you may have just set cybernetics back 20 years. It involves messing with the human body which we are wired to not want to do. Why people in the military have PTSD. No doubt cybernetics will change the world, but I don't think it's coming as soon as some people. I say good cybernetics may still be 50 years off. We are pushing really slowly as it's a risky process and involves a mix of chemistry, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, biology, and is a medical procedure. Getting all these things to fit together cohesively is not an easy task.
You sir, do seriously amaze me in every way. All I want is a most detailed break down of your work you've done, the fields you've personally learned, your experience with the world. You seem like a man that I could just sit there, pick your brain for information, be fascinated and not realize how much time has passed. I've been around since possibly your first Collab, I think halo follower, and every time I find a new video, it's like a podcast. Its incredible. But now I'm just wanting to learn what ever the hell you're doing behind the closed doors and learn, simply, learn.
I prefer the Spartan augmentations. They never had to loose a limb or another body part. The Spartans simply augmented and advanced their biology to an almost godlike level.

Many of your own thoughts mirror my own in all honesty. From science fiction possibly prophesizing our ascension through technology to the effects of the way society views the world of transhumanism. In truth, the main reason I am where I am today is because of one thought: "I want to make science fiction-nonfiction". And you are one of many that have inspired me to continue my own research into further evolving the world of cybernetics.

"Sarif was right about one thing. It's in our nature to want to rise above our limits. Think about it. We were cold, so we harnessed fire. We were weak, so we invented tools. Every time we met an obstacle, we used creativity and ingenuity to overcome it. The cycle is inevitable. In the past, we've had to compensate for weaknesses, finding quick solutions that only benefit a few. But what if we never need to feel weak or morally conflicted again? What if the path Sarif wants us to take enables us to hold on to higher values with more stability? One thing is obvious. For the first time in history, we have a chance to steal fire from the gods.
