    Seeing a lot of comments saying the HD-25 is also modular. As a HD-25 user myself you'll never hear me put the headphone down, however they are more repairable than modular. You can't swap the headband for a different design or change the sound of the headphone with a new cup for example. That's where the TMA-2 design shines, if that's what you're after of corse!

    • @Drrolfski
      @Drrolfski 3 года назад

      Sennheiser actually has different qualities of cups in their confusing HD-25 lineup and you can eat your heart out with their headbands designs if you go to their website. You're right though that repairable is probably a better word than modular and this is how you really use the HD-25. But that goes for the AIAIAI TMA-2 as well. Modularity is not a thing in reality. It suggests that you swap around different parts for different uses regularly which no DJ/producer does.
      If anything, the AIAIAI TMA-2 is more customizable when you buy one but that's nothing more than a hollow marketing concept. Sennheiser and other DJ/producer brands offer a zillion different headphones for different uses as well in their line up and with many of these you can buy parts when they break.

    • @fjrichman
      @fjrichman 3 года назад +3

      @@Drrolfski Sennheiser doesn't make it obvious though that they're "modular" or that you can mix and match any of the parts. TMA-2 pushed this as their core idea at least when I bought mine. The idea being you could have like your really bassy soundscape with certain speakers and earpads while having a completely different sound with a different set. They kind of pushed the idea that you could swap it out for different listening experiences.
      Sure its not how most people use it but honestly I've used the modular aspect to build up to my current set of headphones as AIAIAI released better parts. Upgraded my headband when they released their bluetooth version. Upgraded speakers and earpads later on because they came out with better ones later. Effectively that means I bought a whole new pair over time but I really like their overall quality and customer support so I'm good with that.

    Hands down these headphones should be the standard for any techno/house dj who doesnt wanna spend crazy $. Theyre eco friendly, stylish, sound great and MODULAR. I can't express how important this is, no more repairing entire headphones or having to buy a whole new pair if something breaks, you can just replace the individual part thats broken and you can even have multiple parts for different uses, today i wanna use them for dj use, no problem, studio use, no problem, thats genius. I first bought a pair of AIAIAI TMA-1 Studios back in 2015 and Nicole Moudaber was the first dj i notice using them and i was sold. They still work to this day and ive added 3 new pairs of TMA-2 to my collection, theyre amazing.

    I like the philosophy behind these headphones but I certainly won't give up my Sehhheiser HD 25 II for it. Which is as modular as you need it, packs a superior, neutral sound, and doesn't suffer from excessive sound leaking.

    TMA-2 DJ preset are a little misunderstood I think. If you're looking for listening headphones they're not good but they're really intended to reduce harsh upper frequencies that can cause ear fatigue and ringing, whilst beat matching. I do find them a little too muddy sometimes, but I've gotten use to it & i'm thankful at the end of the night. My HD-25 are more natural, but my ears suffer for it. Tough one.

    6-7 years ago everyone was saying how great V-Moda M100 is and I bought one based on the reviews. These were the shittiest headphones I have ever had! (I didn’t like the sound, they broke 1 month after I got them, signs of wear in a few months... just awful for this price). So thanks for the „review“. But I would never listen to music with the SO2 speakers. Therefore I want to purchase a second pair for production and casual use during Black Friday, they give you 30% on everything on their website

    I was very excited to order a pair of custom spec with bluetooth headband so that I could have the practicality for travel and pop the cable in when I get to the booth. First, they took ages to arrive. When they did arrive, the bluetooth headband (the main point I tried these for) didn't work. Customer service was very slow. They finally sent me a replacement headband but my overall experience was not good. One other thing I noticed is that wind noise is quite loud with these. Maybe related to the sound bleed through you mentioned but I find it annoyingly excessive with wind noise coming in when I am out walking with these on. HD-25 are still worlds better in my opinion though they don't offer the same modularity nor bluetooth.

    Sick review! I needed to hear that about the SO2 vs. SO5 speaker units. Been using AIAIAIs DJ configuration for years now but always feel like I'm missing something with clarity (bass is so good but TOO good making it muddy at times) so it forces you to boost the volume to hear what you want to hear (dangerously high for my ear health)
    So yeah... gonna have to try the SO5 speaker units or its back to the drawing board deciding between a pair of Pioneer HDJ-X7s/HDJ-CXs or (of course) HD-25s

    Being modular is what caught my attention, I like them, I consider them a good purchase for dj.

    Ive got a set of the TMA 2 HD's full top spec ones (Wireless, Alcantara etc.) but managed to get them with 30% off (wouldn't have paid the full whack!). absolutely love them, use them all day at work for listening and video calls etc. work great, and for DJ'ing and production these have been incredible!
    only downside i have with them is that the Alcantara material on the headcup has come loose which is annoying but a little bit of adhesive will fix them if AIAIAI wont send me a replacement etc.

    I'm really torn with the Tma-2 DJ preset and if they would be too bass heavy and loss of clarity.
    I only DJ at home and also use headphones on the PC.
    I'm leaning towards the beyerdynamic dt770 pro 80ohm as a multi purpose but not sure if they would be a good choice for beat mixing. I can't make a decision.

I cant really hear that "tack tack" when a track is not 100% beatmatched and the bass is completely separated with enorm wider stereo image. The senns are now very boring for me.

    Hope you guys see this, I know you guys recommend the s05 drivers, the main thing I’ve seen about the S02 is that they can sound “muddy” but I’ve seen a lot of DJs say these “save” their ears because when turn up in volume in loud clubs they don’t hurt your ears with the high frequencies after hours of DJing and cueing tracks, any input on this before I order a set?

    • @Crossfader
      @Crossfader  2 года назад +1

      If you're just using the headphones to beat match, having a bass heavy speaker like that does help DJ hear the kicks at lower volumes. However if you want to blend and monitor the sound and EQ in the headphone, we'd recommend getting a driver with a flatter response.

The DJ series and the Comfort with the S04 drivers are boomy, bassy with uncontrolled low frequencies. It all has a barrel sound, with bad mids and highs. Does anyone in the factory listen to these at all? This brand is overhyped. Huge disappointment, i got back to hd25.

    Pay famous people to wear these "fashion" headphones and passes that marketing cost on to consumers in combination with cheap materials. It happened the same with Beats headphones. Those were rubbish, but since famous people were wearing them... People thought they could be good even if those were used by football players. If the HD25s are used over the years as reference headphones by Djs and professionals at the studios for instance, there must be a reason. For the unpaid Djs, it would be a good question to ask, Why are not they wearing the TMA-2? If you value the aesthetics over sound quality it is absolutely respectable. Cheers

      Hd25s are good, not great though. Do high end people actually use them? I figured regular people loved them because they sound good and aren’t super expensive. My Pioneer HDJX-10s sound infinitely better. But they’re over twice the price so it’s not really fair to compare them.
      I get the cost difference being a factor, but if a person has the money I see no reason to get the hd25 over the Pioneers.

    SO5 are muddy AF too. SO4 the winner but AIAIAI don't make them anymore.

    Reading all the sound specs on their website, they are really quite poor. For me, Custom in-ear monitors are the way forward for DJ's. I love mine. And DT770's for studio listening. They are so comfortable you can wear them all day. Hence they are the worlds biggest selling Headphone. And every single part is replaceable. And just £130 !.

    PSA: HORRIBLY LOUD HISS AND CLIPPING!!! Most reviews won't talk about as they are paid shills by AIAIAI!!!
    Everyone and their nana and even doggo is blessing these cans to Valhalla tho the hissing is super fucking loud and can be annoying. Like an built in white noise feature.
    On max. volume on them the hiss is way too loud!
    Pushing the Volumedown button 6 times makes it almost inaudible tho then the cans are too quiet. Really gone is the hiss firsif you press the Volumedown button 8 times tho then again are the cans waaaay too quiet!!
    Using an amp to power the cans is also not great as they start to be clipping really bad relly soon!!!
    No one was reporting on this. Tho no wonder if AIAIAI gives those cans to ppl to 'test/review' aka do lazy marketing...
    One Love!
    Always forward, never ever backward!!

      @@n3phalem754 Nope they sound great with cable. This guys going around and shitting on AIAIAI because the wireless system doesnt do the same as wired. Yes there is a compromise but its worth it as nothing else out there does wireless low latency like these. Set the headphones up and the hiss is low on wireless.

    This MUST be a Sponsorship but crossfader didnt make that clear at the start. Im not going to watch this until someone replies to tell me they said whether this is paid sponsorship or not.
    TBClear, Im OK with paid sponsorships but when they are packaged as product reviews that undermines the credibility of the channel. Just be upfront with your audience, we want you to be sucessful.

      Not a sponsorship, we don't do paid reviews. These are our honest views on the product.

    I will stick with my ATH-m50x any day.
    I like the try to make them environmentally-friendly but noch much else. They do too much marketing with big DJs and it shows in the price. For that money I can even get myself studio headphones (like beyerdynamic or audio technica) AND some smaller headphones for Djing. Also for 300 bucks those should come assembled. Sorry to say that but being able to customize is no excuse to ship them in pieces. Especially since they come packaged separately instead of one thing in one bag. -> They call that environmentally friendly. excuse me wtf.
    That said I like to try out headphones myself and did not meet someone yet that got them. Thats mainly because I wear glasses and headphones should work with that. Maybe these are indeed a great product but the marketing is really bad imho.

    Look cheap and nasty to me. Environmentally friendly made in China and brought to the UK on a slow boat with an enormous carbon footprint. Surely making making them in country would be better. Find it amusing that world famous DJs try to make statements about the environment just after they've been flown to a gig on a private jet.
