Aired fifty years ago tomorrow. ❤ 24th December 1973. A window to another era.. and much better times. 🙁 I wish I'd have lived in those days.. I was not born for another 15 years. I believe it to be the greatest sitcom ever made. I am from a different era but I grew up watching this show in the 2000s. My Mother got the box set for me one Christmas probably sometime around mid 00s because I loved the show so much. I still watch it through, all eight seasons, at least one or two times a year. RIP Harry and Wilfrid. You will never be forgotten.
When dad was poorly both him and i watched these most days. Made dad laugh even through the darkest hours and he sadly passed away watching this episode. Every time I watch this, it still makes me laugh like hell. Absolute classics.
I’m 28 and I love this. I’ve seen this many times because my much older brother usually puts this on every year and has done since I was little. According to today’s youth and societal standards, I’m supposed to be offended by this. Even though I am young, this is the kind of comedy I want to see and not the woke bullsh@t that is being forcibly rammed down our throats today. Being a Danish girl, I’m understanding the cockney dialect rather well. Wilfrid Brambell’s accent is pretty damn good to say he was the Dubliner. Just a point to make here, if we take our eye of the ball too much, comedies like this will become a thing of the past, and even surviving copies of it will eventually be outlawed. The agenda is very real.
Was good seeing the unedited version of this classic episode…..all time classic this show was aired before I was born but my dad got me into and I’m glad he did never be shows like this again
@@Maesterful research Enoch Powel and you'll get the none political correct joke that millions laughed at in the day and present day because it’s humour, not hate.
My late father and I roared with laughter at Steptoe and Son. Every episode a classic. They don’t make them like this anymore.
I'm 33 it's 2021 and steptoe and son 1973 is still amazing no more needs to be said
I'm also 33 and i grew up watching this and i still love it !
I’m here because it was always on the telly when I was a kid. My late dad liked it.
Most programmes age well - today's will age even better than shows from the 70s

Not a Palestine flag in sight
I watched this as a kid and still laugh out loud👏🏾👏🏾😂
So sad they all thought Enoch was racist … look where we are now.. thanks for that !
I’ll start paying my TV license again when they start making Classic comedy again
So never?
It's TV licence (English spelling), not 'TV license' (American spelling).

Thats not a bad way to go, watching steptoe and son.

Forgive my spelling errors. I should’ve correct them!

Timeless Classic 👍
Enoch’s dreaming of a white Xmas!!😂😂😂
That bit is usually cut nowadays
Quiet Man
We probably will be arrested for laughing at something totally inafencive 🤣👻❤
Luckily the woke brigade have no influence here on RUclips and that is how it should be.
Saint enoch. We were taught to hate him in the 70s it didn't work on me son of an ulster loyalist that's probably why
@@leeenglandland2978 well said Lee👌have a great Christmas Mate👍🎄🎄🎄

I'd never seen that extended opening travel agent scene before
have the dvd box set, yet the BBC cut out the scene when Harold is writing on Dads gift. which is one of the funniest scenes in the episode

Brilliant
Snobby travel agent and them two in there.
Is that Captain Peacock at 0:58?
Sure is..
The late Frank Thornton. Also did "Last Of The Summer Wine."
Has anyone got any idea what the first bottle to go into the punch bowl is?
Pause at 42:56, one of Harold's spots is stuck to his scarf!😄
They didn't half used to talk to themselves a lot in those days.
