    I straightened my hair for the first time in 7 years and I got heat damage, my hair was past bra strap length and now it’s just at the nape of my neck. I’m keeping it in twists until it grows back but I’m really really sad about this 😔

    Thank You Girls so much ! I literally have been crying and sobbing over my hair. I haven’t had heat touch it in over a year and had it blow dryed (medium heat with a concentrated nozzle ) and straightened ( 1pass) I believe the issue was I used the honey hydrating leave in and my hair automatically puffed up after straightening. Like within seconds . And I have hair down my back and cut 4 inches off for a much need trim and dead ends . And I’m literally so disappointed in myself . I will see if the natural salon near me does this and get this done . Thank you so much

    • @cakedfacekenya
      @cakedfacekenya 3 года назад

      I noticed the same reversion when using that leave in. Honey is a humectant and pulls moisture to it. I recommend using a leave in that does not have humectants or foregoing a leave in altogether and used a cream based heat protectant that will give moisture without pulling moisture from the air

      Those Dominican hair salons need to be shut down until they can pass necessary healthy hair care standards. I used to go to them a lot when living in NYC when I was relaxed and knew very little of healthy care and didn’t care much about my hair cause I thought my hair would never grow. They damage hair a lot of the times beyond repair. I just washed my hair post a press and trim I got done last week in Atlanta at a Dominican hair salon cause I thought they have changed for the better and was in desperate need of a trim, and lucky my heat damage is not as bad I was thinking (probably cause I washed/treated/deep conditioned/put in a leave-in and heat protectant and thoroughly detangled prior to arriving at the salon), but still they don’t care nothing about the health of hair. Am gonna see if olaplex can save me from the little heat damage that I incurred🙄.

    I'm 12 and I have A LOT of hair. My mom had to do a big chop in the early 2000's but it is still taking a while to grow. Recently, I have gone through an accident where my hair stylist fried my hair off. I know it sounds dramatic but there are actual pieces of my hair broken off and straight. My mother is African american so she has 4c hair. I have 3c and 4c hair. Do you recommend any products that could help me get my healthy hair back?

    • @ashleyangelique5740
      @ashleyangelique5740  4 года назад +6

      Hi! Yes! So it sounds like your hair is transitioning from heat damaged to natural. You need to do a lot of protein treatments, and sometimes making your own is better then buying off the shelves. Try an avocado, olive oil hair mask. You can also put a raw egg in it if you’re brave lol. You can use coconut oil in the mask etc. Theres a lot of “food” ingredients that are really good for the hair. If you’re hair was literally fried off then cutting that off and starting over is best (😩 I know it sucks, we’ve been there!) You can’t really save fried hair and working with 2 textures (your healthy natural hair growing in and the damaged hair) is difficult.

      Overtime it will. Maintaining the health of the hair is most important so make sure you’re using protective styling methods to reduce excess manipulation. The protein treatment will help make the hair strong again and eventually your natural curl pattern will come back.

    • @ashleyangelique5740
      @ashleyangelique5740  4 года назад +7

      Hi! Okay so we had a similar situation when we had a perm and had heat damage. Your hair is matted because it’s basically dead because of the heat damage, it’s really difficult with work with damaged hair especially when your washing it. And long strands of hair are coming out because it’s falling out from the root because it’s already dead. Your hair is growing back but when you comb it, your “dead” hair is breaking off. If you want to big chop then do it 🤷🏽‍♀️ it’s definitely easier just to start over. But you can also just continue to let your hair grow out and keep trimming a few times every year and eventually the dead hair will be gone. It’ll be a process for sure, because you can’t save hair that’s fried. We think a big chop is the way to go.... have a fresh new start 😍😍 short hair cuts are so cute to!! It’ll look great

    I tired the Aphrogee 2 steps tonight. I wasn’t sure which one to use. There’s two. I did use their shampoo and the 2nd step moisturizer. Unfortunately I didn’t see any real change in the areas that are most noticeable. Idk if I used enough🤷🏾‍♀️ I also tried pure aloe Vera juice on my hair prior. I did see some change but not enough to convince me. I do make my own hot oils and masks. I think I’m gonna try an egg white and avocado mask for max protein. I cut my hair boy short (no particular reason) just came home from work and did it 😂 back in January and I only straightened it to cut the ends a few weeks ago. The mistake I made was leaving it straight and passing the iron back 2-3 times days following the initial straightening. I just want my curls back! 😩😩😩 How do I know if I used enough of the product on my hair? My damage is also most at the back and mild in the front.

    • @ashleyangelique5740
      @ashleyangelique5740  4 года назад +3

      The results vary on hair texture and the amount of damage to the hair. Everyone’s different. When we first started using this product years ago back when we were transitioning from a perm, it took about 3 uses over time before we saw some results.

    Do you have heat damage if your roots are curly, the ends are curly as well but the middle is straight? Because for a party I did a bun and curled the two front pieces, but now they’re not reverting back to its original pattern. This is the first time I’ve straightened my natural since my big chop a year ago and I only did a couple passes. The ends curl a bit, the roots are fine bu the middle won’t budge 😭

      Hey! Thanks for watching! it sounds like you might have some heat damage. Sometimes different areas of your head can be more sensitive to heat then others (the front of my hair is super sensitive to heat too) We would suggest that you try a more natural protein treatments first, like a DIY hair mask protein treatment with olive oil, a avocado, eggs etc (you can search different recipes on RUclips). Your heat damage doesn’t sound severe, so I would try something more gentle first to see if that helps before you start putting a harsh chemical filled protein treatment in. ❤️ let us know how it goes!

      What a coincidence, I’m on vacation in the Dominican Republic right now. Thanks for the heads up but I really hope that your hair reverts to how it was before ❤️

    How many times a week should we use it? Should we do it daily?

    • @ashleyangelique5740
      @ashleyangelique5740  3 года назад +3

      No! Only use this maybe 3- 4 times a year! It’s a very strong chemical, it’s way too intense to use weekly or daily.

      Can I do once a month for 3 months and that be it for a years time? I have 4b hair but because I have flat ironed it so much over these past 6-7 months the front and back are bone straight and the middle is just wavy. It’s not breaking or falling out but I fear that it will if I don’t do something soon

    I like how ppl say they're never goin to the salon again.. stylist damage their hair.. but they asked for the damage. But I get it.. maybe they feel the stylist should've informed them of the damages that a process will cause. Got it
