I've been watching your videos for the last few weeks and purchased my very own 2002 Acura MDX today! You're going to save me a ton of money. I genuinely thank you for your time and effort in making your videos, I enjoy your cooking videos too.

Thank you for the encouragement. It's a little bit of trouble to film when you're trying to get a job done but all worth it when you know it's helped someone else.

    Hey Joe,
Looks like you've been doing a couple repairs on your 02 MDX. I have a 06 MDX that I was planning on doing some of my own repairs similar to what you have done, i.e. tie rod ends and sway bar.
    Thanks for your informative videos.

Did you mash your hand when trying to pull out that pin?

Was there a ballpark torque for the tie rod or just hand tighten?

I do not remember. When I need a torque, I've had good luck Googling it. Please try that and let me know what you find.

Thanks for commenting, Alex. I'm embarrassed to say that I'd forgotten I ever made this video. I guess I should watch it.☺

Good video. I've replaced tie rod ends before but wanted to make sure that there were no gotchas on the Acura.
The only remarks I would make are:
    1. Torque?
    2. When you are tightening the locking nut, the steering shaft appears to rotate a little. I suppose that's not an issue if you're going to take your car in for an alignment anyway but would it not be better to prevent the steering shaft from turning while securing the locking nut?
    Cheers, Max

HibsMax Thanks for watching and for the kind words. I didn't think to call out the torque. I"m sure it's in the shop manual. I just tightened it as tight as I could.
I'm not looking at it right now but it seems like I remember the steering shaft had flat places where you could put a wrench to keep it from turning.

Nice video. When I try to unbolt the tie rod, it keeps spinning and my pliers can’t hold it 👎

Antonio Castillo Usually when I get an alignment they give me a paper with the alignment result printed on it. If this is correct then I wouldn't worry about the extra threads showing. Perhaps it wasn't aligned correctly before or something else changed when you did your repair. In any case, I would keep an eye on that wheel and watch for uneven wear of the tire. Good luck and happy motoring!
