pearl abyss seems to be really confident in this game with all the previews that have been shown and played by people, excited to be surprised by something new.
This will be BDO without the FOMO, P2W, and typical Korean MMO tropes. So it will be Good, BDO isn't bad - it's got some of the best combat in an MMO, it's just a victim of Eastern MMO symptoms which just leads it to become bottomless pit grinds, market place manipulation, in-game store greed, etc etc. As far as we know, this will have none of that - and all the things people wanted in BDO in the first place. Voice acted characters, more story-rich areas, etc etc.

Whenever I purchase a new action RPG, the very first thing I do after installation is disable all of the “cinematic effects”, like Motion Blur, Film Grain, Chromatic Aberration, etc. 2:15 I agree with Aztecross - I don’t know why game studios even include these visual options. The gameplay is ALWAYS better with all of those optional cinematic visual effects turned OFF.
Its so cool seeing the NPCs i know the names of in a different providence space from black desert. This world is not plague by the black spirits and its just so cool. Shakatu my boi!

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the amount of lore, not that i know many people who do focus on it, but BDO(Black desert online) has an a pretty rich a storied lore, this game is based before BDO so i expect it to be fairly lore heavy and cement a lot of it. Combat does look fairly simple, but again so was The Witcher, they have mentioned skill trees before, but never shown as far as i know. They have shown in previous trailers tho doing specific combos and there's also like team based moves, specifically i remember them showing someone playing the half giant character throwing a dude at Kliff and then Kliff catching the guy with that lariat mid air. From years ago when it was first announced (Not sure if it's changed since then but) you're going to be able to play i think it was 5(?) characters, all of which were introduced in the start, and then there was supposed to be some form of co-op/multiplayer component but whether that was scrapped or not no idea, they haven't really elaborated and everyone seems to know a different right answer depending on who you ask lol.
Skill movement of Kliff is the same in the succession warrior class in BDO. Alustin is from BDO, Shakatu is merchant guild leader in BDO. Makes me ponder if this is a prequel to the world of Black Desert Online
Lower footstep noise, lose the motion blur, chill with the particle effects, add more combat options than just a sword and a shield. The game looks great and with a little tweaking (minus me wanting more weapon choice, kind of a big ask in terms of implementation) I feel like I’ll be playing this for a very long time if the story isn’t anything like what dragons dogma 2 turned out to be
This isn’t a knock or derogatory point - 6:12 - The footage so far smells more like Assassins Creed Valhalla, rather than The Witcher 3. There’s nothing wrong with AC: Valhalla; I genuinely like that game, a lot! However, it’s a BIG step up from AC: Valhalla to the exquisite glory of The Witcher 3. Crimson Desert, in my opinion, looks more in-line with AC:Valhalla, in terms of quality and depth. Again, that’s not a slight. I just think it’s more correct and appropriate to compare Crimson Desert (at least based on this footage) to Valhalla (not TW3).

There was a option to talk to the boss at Warlord's when he kneeled during the fight. That's pretty cool. Maybe you can talk a boss out of continuing the fight if they are losing bad enough or just get more lore and dialogue
thats old news tbh, to ur question if this is similar to BDO, Crimson Desert is singleplayer focused so the whole experience will be way more cinematic but the combat system builds heavily upon Black Deserts aswell as using an upgraded version of their inhouse engine. So i say while not gameplay wise reflecting BDO, BDO should give u a little sneak peak of what to expect from the combat, npcs Dynamic systems, world interactibility aswell as the graphics (put into relative perspective of course). Oh and the game seems to share alot of characters, we have to see how the story pans out but it seems somewhat connected

Playing black desert to get a base feel for the combat probably isn't a bad idea. After watching the trailers, I can only imagine theyre going to be using the same WASD + lmb/rmb/e/q/etc for combat. Very interactive and combo oriented.
Oh boy the old black desert engine is clearly showing. It was constantly upgraded and looks kinda up to date but i see so many issues in this trailer. If u would have played BDO from the early days and saw its transformation u see where it flaws are, but i gotta admit i always wanted a big open world game like bdo itself. If a single player game with the BDO looks and awesome action gameplay would have released back then it would have wiped the floor with the current Western RPG division =)

Play Pearl Abyss's Blank Desert, and it practically looks the same. This seems to be a prequel to that game. Alustin the alchemist is in black desert, albeit, much older in that game, but the character model looks pretty identical. Edit: Just noticed another black desert character, Shakatu. Really seems like a prequel of sorts, for sure.
I haven’t been this excited about a game without knowing shit about it in a long time. I just need something like this in my life so bad. It may end up like shit but I can fully say if it’s this I’m in 100%
So as long as there’s a difficulty option because man the amount of damage you take is a lot less than what you’re dealing out. Whoever is playing in this gameplay is okay and getting hit a lot too but anyone who comes with a bit more skill is gonna dodge and counter a bit more. So taking more damage is gonna balance out that skill gap because it’s more punishing when you miss a parry, counter, or dodge.
Looks good! Only thing that nags me a little with the combat are the sparks/particle effects on weapon swings. Looks like a good combination of open world exploration and boss variety. Looking forward to this one. Hopefully the story isn't expected Eastern hollow trash. Seems like toneally, the Eastern game devs are hitting the mark whereas Western devs are too concerned with agenda driven identity politics and rainbows.
I will say, game looks good, however I hope you can change that camera angle lol. I find it really distracting as well as you can barely see things right in front of you. I could see it being useful in a large scale battle.

What I find with many open world games is that they are really not very interactive - just eyecandy! Unlike Bethesda's Skyrim, Fallout, Starfield and GTA, RDR2 open world games where there is large interaction and ohysics within the world with objects, items, chracters in the world making it much more sandbox immersive worlds rather thsn the empty eye candy of newer open world games.
