To me he’s the best drummer in the world right now. Not due to complexity or speed or an individual thing. But the way he writes is just a step above everyone else. Not over the top, but complex, and never repetitive. Keeps the flow going and then turns it on when he needs to. If this was another metal drummer the double kick would just be going constantly and get boring. All the mini rolls are just 🤌. Love it
Which is exactly what the great Greyson Nekrutman tried to do with ST song on Drumeo and totally messed with his head how creative the actual drums were.
@@NijFix All I remember from that video was him repeatedly saying "pretty close" when hearing the original. Not sure how he could think that when he was essentially doing double time the whole track lol
Idk if you've noticed but he has a bit of an obsession with teeth and biting. Once you get into the newest album it sort of all comes to a head. I love this band, been listening since their second album. I wish I knew about them sooner 😭.

The closest drummer to this brilliant type of drumming is Daniel Liljekvist of Katatonia. When DEK came out I was left hungry for more and left dry. ST Vessel II drenches me with his brilliance. As a drummer, I have found my next musical hero in II (R.I.P. Neil Peart of Rush, who will always be my drumming hero.)) Great series! Hope you continue all the way through!
