Every hit piece I’ve seen about the Norway maple focuses on how it affects a forest and not someone’s front yard. I speculate the scare tactic to not plant Norway maples originates from sugar maple nurseries.

Inherited a NM that was already 40 YO when we bought our home in SW Ontario. Illegal now to cut down, as the diameter is such that a city-issued permit is required... and it is 50 ft high now. It's a dead zone underneath. Nothing, not even precious lawn will grow under a NM without chronic life support. Maples are notoriously shallow-rooted, and NM is amongst the worst.
    Kill, hate.
