  • Draymond Green. NBA Champion. NBA All-Star. 2x Defensive Player of the Year runner-up. All-NBA Second Team. 2x NBA All-Defense First Team. Olympic Gold Medalist. The 2015-16 campaign was a historic one for the Warriors, as they won a record 73 wins in the regular season (including starting a record 24-0). It was also a personally historic for Draymond because he became the first player in NBA history with 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 500 assists, 100 steals, and 100 blocks in a season. For a player who primarily played the power forward or center spots, Draymond finished 7th in the league in assists with 7.4 per game, joining LeBron James as the only non-guards to finish in the top 10 in assists.
Whether you like him or not, Draymond maybe the most vitally important part of what Golden State does. His ability to defend all five positions at an elite level is obviously next to impossible to replicate. On the other side of the ball, yes, Steph Curry and Klay Thompson (and now Kevin Durant) are some of the best, most explosive shooters/scorers in the league today, but Dray's decision making and floor spacing make him the perfect fit for Kerr’s carefully crafted offense.
The Warriors love running split-action across the low and high posts, essentially using those spots as hubs for their offense. The post-up is more of a play to generate passes out of, rather than to score. Otherwise, they attack out of their motion, with a trailing big as the trigger man up top. An automatic for this is to weave or dribble handoff into a spread pick-and-roll. Whichever action the Dubs run, teams have (in the last 2 seasons) opted to put their best defenders on Draymond so they can simply switch. The only problem with that is that Dray can capably exploit most mismatches, and is smart enough to be able to find the right play instead of forcing a bad one. That’s why he finished in the the top 10 in Win Shares, Box Plus/Minus, Value Over Replacement Player, and finished in the top 5 in Defensive Plus/Minus.
This is easily one of the most requested videos I’ve had, and while I was going to make it already, the frequency with which I got these requests meant I simply took what I had and worked to expand it. Please enjoy both of these!

@@jemarcoarmbrister2321 he’s right bro, in 2016 Draymond didn’t really have that many weaknesses(Obviously times changed lol) but once at a point in time like these highlights he could literally fo it all. Elite defender, could bring the ball up the court, great passer, athletic/physical player, respectable shooter back then(2017 idk ehat happened but teams literally start daring him to shoot and his shot been a little broke since 2015-16 szn). He was a top player in the league around this time he was a walking triple double basically Lebron on a much much much smaller scale

@@rtlxhuncho5222 exactly bro these ppl in the comments must be new to basketball or sum bc anybody in there right mind remember back around 2014-16 he could shoot the ball at very respectable level not somebody u wanted to leave wide open, also he could finish and bring the ball up the court he basically did have no flaws around this time of his career

We need this version of Draymond Green Back. Let's go dray. You got this. Warriors nation. Dubs need offense from dray in these finals. We can't win 4 on 5 playing the Celtics. 2 pts 4 rebounds from your third best player will not win us another title. Someone has to step up and help Stephen and Klay. Kaminga,Poole/Payton ECT we need to ball out like we are capable. Let's go Warriors. We get the Split game 4 and return home 2-2
